Is this how it feels...?
What had me so busy this last weekend? That would be saying goodbye to Emily! (nekonezumi) After all, today's been pretty useless. For some reason I felt super-hungry and stuffed myself full of meatloaf, string beans, mushrooms, and now oatmeal. The time in between was spent... I'm not sure what I was doing! I managed to watch an episode of House (decent) and Gossip Girl (as boring as always.. why do I watch this show?) Also, when I went to the 100 yen shop, I was in a hurry because it had suddenly turned 5pm.. what happened to the day?!?! And I forgot to take pictures. Oops! ^^;;

I felt like I'd barely met Emily, but had to say goodbye to her already! ToT You'd think that I'd be used to it by now.. almost all of my friends that aren't japanese move away from Tokyo/Japan eventually. There really aren't a whole lot of "gaijin" lifers that aren't staying for something other than marriage (I want to marry Mako one day if possible, but that's not the reason I'm staying. I'm staying because Japan is my home, and I want to live and work here).

Anyways, my lovely sometimes-transient friends! (I just like saying it, it sounds kinda cool XP) How many of you guys are planning to stay? And how long are you planning to stay? What do you want to do? Let me knooooow!! ^^ I think I'll have to start discussing this in earnest. :)

So, um, pictures!! :D

On Saturday, Tiffany, Emily, Adele, Eda, Marianne, and I went out to get Okonomiyaki! ♥ I looooooooove Okonomiyaki!

At the best places, you get to make your own Okonomiyaki! I first had okonomiyaki in Arizona, but it wasn't until I moved to Japan (and really, until I went to Oosaka on vacation a few years ago) that I really learned to appreaciate love it! It sounds gross (shredded cabbage in a batter made of flour and eggs, with various ingredients like fish or meat mixed in, all grilled slowly, then slathered with a generous helping of fishy sauce, dried fish flakes, seaweed sprinkles (and huge globs of mayo if you aren't me))

But it's actually really, really, really good! Marianne and I made some with cheese and kimchee inside. :) I made the orders for the sake of simplicity, but I can't for the life of me remember what the others were. I think someone had mochi inside? Eeeeeda?

Emily seems to be enjoying her okonomiyaki experience... :D

T...time to flip! I think????

And now it's time for a story...

But I need you guys to fill in the blanks!! Why is Eda looking at Marianne that way?

Tiffany, Emily, and Adele seem to have their own opinions about the situation... Captions, anyone??
(Could we have been talking about Captain Picard?)

See how much time passed? (not much at all!)

I don't drink much, but I do really, really love ume-shuu. (plum wine) Nomg, it's like drinking sweet syrup. Not surprising, considering that it's almost half sugar... x.x;; It's been a long time since I've had ume-shuu, but it was a special occasion!

Have you got a handle on that? *dead*

About ready for seasoning!

What manner of funny are they looking at? Thinking back now, I really wonder!

But, it seems to have been pretty funny...

Watch out Emily, Tiffany is aiming for your kimchee!!!!! :O

Three pretty girls ♥ (Or, one pretty girl, and one pretty hobbit and pretty kender, if I'm correct?)

Two pretty girls and me! (Or...? Suggestions?)

Emily holding the goodbye picture that I drew for her.. I've been drawing a lot lately!

Afterwards, we took Purikura (I hear that Adele scanned them, so I will probably post some of them as part of the meme :D), and then headed to get dessert! It seemed the appropriate time to perch my new hat on Emily's head =)

This is the next day! Somehow there are repeat players.....? I feel I've seen this picture somewhere before...
We had mexican food! Mmmmmm ♥ Well, Tex-mex, Japanese-style :)

Things like this! Shall I point out how Emily's salad is bigger than her head?? :D

We then headed to here: http://www10.ocn.ne.jp/~milky91f/
To get our dessert on! Don't let the ugly website fool you, this peach tea was to die for!

Complete with little cubes of white stuff shaped like stars! I'm tempted to call them annin-dofu, but really they didn't have any flavor. ^^

How this huge parfait fit into the tiny Kimberly I will never know! ♥

Emily, Tiffany, Adele, and Hannah find various ways to enjoy their yummies!

Captions, anyone...?

I couldn't resist, so I had to get this scrumptious piece of deliciousness! OMG it was soooo good. I'm a sucker for caramel.. (my poor diet.. must go running...)

And to round off the "weekend", I spent Monday with Ale-chan and Mako in Shibuya! We actually got together not just to catch up, but to discuss something important :3 As expected, Mako was full of ideas! (he still refuses to appear on the internet on camera, lol)

But we went here: http://www.snfruits.com/ Nishimura Fruits Parlor..

Ahhhhhhhhhh I could go there again. And again and again and again!! (at least, it was pleasant until someone started smoking in the "smoking section" (basically tables next to non-smoking tables, no divider, nothing. I don't get why this is done. There is no meaning to having a nonsmoking section if it's in the same room as the smoking section with no divider. Smoke knows no boundaries. X.x;;)

Anyways, the desserts were yummy! I'm just waiting for the laws to catch up so I can come back!

Ale's off-shot!

It's only fair if I make fun of myself too! LOL I love the black line under the eyes that was not there in real-life! And I guess I shouldn't wear a bumpy shirt underneath a smooth one XD Lesson learned.

Me and Ale! Hisashiburi!! ♥

I think we have a fairly interesting idea! More will be coming about that some time down the road! ♥

Oh my... time to work out now! I found some really old purikura of me and can't believe how much I've slimmed down.. it makes me really afraid to eat more! I can definitely see the 30-some kilos that I've lost, no problem. It also makes me really motivated to lose more! I'm almost there!!! Just a few more kilos to go, I can do it!! *ganbarimasu*!!!!! =^-^=

I have to go back to the hospital tomorrow to see how my medication is doing for the ITP, which means that I have barely enough time to go for a run, take a shower, and go to bed. If even enough time. But I'm sick and tired of looking really tired, so somehow I must make myself get enough sleep tonight!!! *determined* I guess I'll try to work tomorrow........... T-T *unproductive*

Well, I plan on being in Japan for as long as it will have me (i.e. steady work and a current visa). I'm looking to make it my fairly-permanent home, so yeah. ^_^

Those pictures look awesome and now I want dessert. XD <3

In the pumpkin head-picture....Is she eating a flan inside an acorn squash?! If so, that's an awesome idea and I will try it! If not....it's an awesome idea and I shall patent it. = P

She's eating pumpkin-flavored pudding (I think similar to flan?) inside of a japanese pumpkin =D

You say you don't like to drink... How do you/did you survive those notorious after work drinking parties? I'm planning to go to Japan in a year and I don't drink. Everyone says I'm going to have to (of course I'm not, but...). -____-
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on October 5th, 2010 11:05 pm (UTC)
They've never really had them where I worked. ^^; I wouldn't go to them anyways because I don't like cigarette smoke! And even if you go, it doesn't mean that you have to drink ^^ Just tell people that you don't drink alcohol and I'm sure they'll leav you alone if they're decent people.

I always find it adorable when people in the background who aren't part of the picture pose for it, just in case they somehow manage to make it in the picture, and this dude did it by a hair XD

My favorite thing about your journal is how many ideas you give me for when I finally take my trip to Tokyo in a while :)

Well I don't plan to be going anywhere anytime soon. As of right now, I'm planning to live here the rest of my life, but I can't rule out the possibility of that changing eventually down the line. XD

Those desserts look awesome! I keep meaning to go to the Milky Way~ I'm sure I'll get there eventually~ ^___^

I'm sticking around for one more year, maybe two. If I get a boyfriend, that might convince me to stay longer. Prob is that my family will not be happy with that. :(

Okonomiyaki! <3

Get some sleep!!!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on October 5th, 2010 11:09 pm (UTC)
If you got a boyfriend, would you consider staying forever for him? LOL I might be old-fashioned, but I wouldn't date anyone that I didn't think I might want to stay with forever XD

This is funny, you just proved you really are assimilated in Japan and should be living there! Only you and Eda make the peace sign in the photo's, the other girls just look at the camera ^_^

Well, as you probably already know I've been wondering whether to stay or not. I decided to stay a bit longer, but eventually I wanna go back home.
I wanna discuss this with others soon, too. Already have an entry ready for that, but just no time to post ;o;

I just started reading your blog and I'm really enjoying it! I've been to Japan twice-I'll be back a third time this December to visit and next year I'm hoping to move there to teach English for awhile.

It's hard to imagine you've lost 30kg-you look so good! I'm actually the same-I lost about that much weight too a few years ago. But now I'm stuck on how to lose the little bit of flab I still have left. What are you doing to help? I could really use some ideas!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on October 6th, 2010 12:58 pm (UTC)
Thanks! ^^

I'm keeping my calories down, but it doesn't really do much. What really helps is both doing that and working out. I try to do 30 minutes every day, and I do leg lifts too. When I finally lose that stomach flab, I will have great abs! =D =D =D At least I'd better!

I'm so jealous of pepople who have flat stomachs. Even people a lot heavier than me, still have flat stomachs and can wear bikinis... sooo jealous!

Those desserts! +w+ Woooaahhh! Looks delicious!!

Tell me, Jamie, do you drink lots of water? I have been on a diet as well (sort of, I lost 40 lbs so far) and I get enough sleep every night, yet, I find myself always looking and feeling tired too. I discovered the secret! Drink more water!! It's calorie free, keeps you hydrated and feels you up for a while, so you don't feel so hungry all the time either. Well, that works for me. Maybe if you haven't tried that already, you could give it a go? Good luck at the hospital n___n//
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on October 6th, 2010 01:00 pm (UTC)
I actually don't drink a lot of water, lol. I drink a TON of tea (green in the summer, black or other blends in the winter). I like teas of all kinds, and they're cheap and calorie-free! I often put in a tiny bit of milk and non-sugar, though, in the winter but it's not really enough to add any calories, lol. :D

I need to cut back though.. because I tend to get up 10+ times throughout the night to go to the bathroom.

It is fun to see the pictures in your blog and really make me want to travel. One of the places on my list is japan. Just all over. Must finish nursing school first though.
