Sweets Paradise in Shinjuku
Today Yesterday was Adele's birthday party! And, being a fellow lover of the colorful, Adele chose to have it at the (cheap) dessert buffet chain called Sweets Paradise.

To be honest, the food there is not exciting at all. The desserts are pretty standard (mildly tasteless cakes in various "flavors" are the main feature. Though I personally liked the soft-serve ice cream, which tastes great with oranges stuck in it! :D There is also curry and various forms of badly-cooked spaghetti to offset the copious sweetness). But the decor more than makes up for the food!! Plus, it's buffet, so if you are hankering for cheap all-you-can-eat cake, and rainbows, then why not!! I used to live in Kichijoji, so I went to that location once a few years ago, but the Shinjuku one has MUCH better decor. A+ in the decor department, which made it a lot more fun =D

So, of course, I took a lot of pictures!! =^-^=

The sign outside... just by looking at it, you know what's in store!

Me inside..

Hannah: Why yes, my headband does match the decor!

Adelle: I'm really not gay :)
Eda: Riiiiiiiight :)

Adele has a better camera than me!

I don't know! (I couldn't come up with anything funny.. ^^;)
Marianne: You know, the bugs on my shirt glow in the dark :D
William: ..............

Alexis explains the reasoning behind his dessert choice... Anyone want to add text??
Full size is here: http://www.jamieism.com/lj5/suipara07a.jpg

Me :D (Please add text if you want! Post it in the comments and I'll add it here!)

Me again.

And some shots of the room...

Kimberly and me =^-^=

Come on... this one is begging for some funny text!! =^-^=

Pink mannequin from the Peach John store downstairs. :3

Two if the purikura that we took =^-^=

And finally, shots from my iphone ^^

If you would like to go yourself someday, there are instructions and a map (in japanese.. but click on the "MAP" and you should be able to figure out the directions) here: http://www.sweets-paradise.com/shop/shinjuku.html

The buffet is the only shop on the third floor. When you get in, the staff will ask you how many people are in your party, and then tell you to buy a ticket from the ticket machine behind you. It is ¥1480 for adults and ¥840 for children. Buy your tickets and give them to your waiter, who will show you to a table and very very very firmly tell you to finish by the time limit, which is 90 minutes and clearly written on your receipt. Also, that you must clear your own tables when your time is up.

If you decide to check it out, please leave a comment and let me know how it went!

Btw, Happy Birthday Adele!! :D

I thought their cakes were delicious D: Maybe the cakes are different in locations...I went to the one in Ikebukuro. For the price, there were tons of cakes, lots of variety, and other foods as well so you didn't overload on sweets. I loved it!

I'm glad to hear that somebody liked them! ^^ For me, I don't like the kind of light cakes that have only subtle flavor-- I like dense cake packed with all of the flavor that can get shoved in there =D

I think it depends on your taste. I've been to the Shibuya and Ikebukuro locations many times and the cakes at both taste the same--pretty plain. And tho, I'm used to American cakes, living in Japan for so long I kinda got used to the light flavors. And I do tend to prefer Japanese cakes now. Especially, the ones they have at the Ginza shops. But the ones at Sweets Paradise have little flavor and are more cream than cake. It seems like they try to save money by just filling the cakes with loads of cream than anything else which makes me get tired of eating them really quickly...which perhaps is their plan...? I usually go to SP for the regular food instead of the cakes. Their wonton is delish!

Well, it's true that I'm not gay. I'm just not straight, either. ^_^

If you're not straight, does this mean that you're loopy? :D

I love the decor! Haha! You always take such neat pictures, i love seeing them. Btw, one of my students was telling me about how she wanted to see Japan someday and i told her you took all these neat pics, she just about died from happy overkill when i showed her a few of the pics you took. She told me you don't get to see all this cool stuff on the tv pictures. Like, nopenope. So thank you!

Adele looks like she could be part of the restaurant decor. XD

I've been to Sweets! Wow, they changed up the decor. It used to be pink Hawaiian themed, now I can see that its rainbow themed. I like the rainbow theme better honestly. Hope it keeps til I go there in December! And I would agree the food is medium quality. But then again it's all you can eat cakes and pasta for a decent price!

I'm still sad I had to miss the Rainbowy Madness but my schedule was exploding ;_;

Hope to see you soon though!!

Wow! That's a lot more colorful than the Kyoto branch. I think I prefer Shinjuku's decor, haha.
