☆Welcome back!!☆
Tomorrow, the Asahi Weekly article where I write about attending a seiyuu class with Jenya comes out! I think it came out pretty well, and I want to give Jenya all of the support that I can, so if you're in Japan, I highly recommend it! ^^

By the way:

These days, to be honest, have and haven't been good to me. There have been great times with friends and with Mako, and fun times where I've been working, but money is a huge stress. Last week I was pretty busy with Asahi Weekly and Pop'n Press work, so this week I want to finish up work and get back to my manga name(a rough draft.. I didn't like the last one, so writing a new one), Denkiki, and blog! And probably commissions, because.. the money thing.

Despite all of that, (almost) without fail, I've been getting in 4 hours of japanese study a day!! I'm not sure how much it is helping, but I can't forget my goal of becoming fluent(ish) by the end of the year. Whatever else happens this year, I want that to be a goal that I seriously reach. I'm really at just a high-intermediate level (speaking, not reading..) right now, but there is a LOT left to go....In fact, the more that I learn, the more it feels that I've just barely begun. By the way, I use a lot of different methods to study. One is textbook (I am almost done with this book, which is excellent!! I recommend it highly). Another method is reading manga (Just finished Marmalade Boy and currently in the middle of Shinshi Doumei Cross, as well as keeping up with Ribon), or books (just started Yanagi Kotaroh's memoir, Shougai Yakusha), watching tv/anime (totally obsessed with Saki-chan's part in Loke-Mitsu right now.. unfortunately not really watching any anime/drama. Any suggestions?), and talking with friends/daily life. I most enjoy the last, obviously, although Saki-chan is hard to resist!! =D;;

Getting in shape, though, is pretty hard. I am only about 5 pounds away from my loose goal, but they just won't seem to come off. I'm not sure if I can lose them while it's still possible to wear a bikini.. and considering that I will turn 30 in just a few weeks, it doesn't seem like it will happen before then, either. T__T But I am so TIRED of dieting, exercising, and practically starving! All that it makes me do is binge later on. >.< (especially since I love ice cream and have no air conditioner).. But I will write about those later. Ganbare!! is all that I can say.

So, I'm going to try to write every day for a week! Let's see how this goes! If I can make it a habit to update my livejournal again, I think that I can go back to the old writing ways.. And especially because I want to communicate with everyone, I have to believe that it can happen! GANBARIMASU!!

I know the feeling
I've had a rough couple of months and I need to find a job so that I can move out of my grand fathers house and hopefully move in to Tokyo or near it. I need to find friends so that I could pick up Japanese easier that way plus that's the only way I can get into the conversational situations that I need other than that I need to brush up on Katagan and start studying kanji and then I should be all set.

Wow, 4 hours a day! So dedicated! Ganbare!

Ahhh, Shinshi Doumei ♥! It's one of my favourites~. Haine is just so cute >w<!!

Those last few kilos are always the hardest! And I know what you mean about wanting to binge later ;~;. Hang tight!

Longtime lurker speaks! :-O
Have you tried eating 6 small meals a day on top of working out 30min-1 hr a day?

Binging is no good, and starving yourself makes your body quite literally eat its own muscles first, slowing down your metabolism even further, which helps you keep on more fat because your body thinks there is a famine going on!

If you start gaining muscle, your resting metabolism will be much higher, and if you eat 6 small meals a day (no more than 300 calories each, maybe a little more if you become pretty active) you will keep your metabolism burning efficiently. This is what body builders do to lower their body fat.

You -must- eat regardless of whether you are hungry or not! An example eating schedule would be 6AM, 9AM, 12N, 3PM, 6PM, and your late night protein snack at 9PM (milk is fine, or peanut butter) to help keep your body from munching on your muscles at night when you're asleep. You may notice that you already naturally reach for food around these times anyways so it won't be hard to try!

You don't need to lift weights. Yoga, pilates, any exercise using your own body weight (sit-ups, crunches, push-ups, pull-ups, etc.) will help you build muscle.

Don't forget to warm-up with cardio first (jumping jacks or jumping rope for two minutes works), then stretch after the warm-up, then exercise, and cool-down with a walk if you did mostly cardio, but always finish with a stretch. Stretching is crucial to healthy muscle growth!

Hope that helps. It really helps to sign up for a cardio and a weight-lifting class at a local gym. Make it up in your mind that this is a doctor's appointment you have to make everyday at a certain time. It may help to find a place to work out in the morning on your way to work or in the evening on the way home. I'm not sure how long you have for lunch, but that may also work!

(If you look at my journal, I'm so sorry but I haven't made any recent entries viewable except for a very small few people, and my profile probably hasn't been updated in years! XD I actually am planning on living in Japan in a few years and have secretly wanted to work for one of the manga publishers... so I added your journal to my friends page for some great info... like, I am so glad I know that there is only one type of tampon to buy in Japan!!! I will definitely stock up on my Tampax before I leave! LOL)

Re: Longtime lurker speaks! :-O
Thanks for the information! ^^

I'm already pretty informed about it, and have experimented around with what works for me (Ialready lost more than 20kg), but it just seems to have stopped working T_T

I do think that I should do some kind of sport.. karate gave me too many bruises so I'm taking a break, but there must be others that I can do for free.. (classes/gyms being too expensive for me)

Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on July 11th, 2010 11:25 am (UTC)
It's a real newspaper-- on Sunday you can find it in many convenience stores, and in most bookstores! ^^

Good luck with everything, hope everything turns out well.

As for suggestions drama wise Akai Ito, and Koizora (There's a movie form too). They are great dramas and they aren't to long either.

Jamie you don't look like you need to lose any weight in your latest photos, your wrists are so thin. Don't force it, kay?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on July 12th, 2010 02:55 am (UTC)
Don't worry, I'm not going to waste away until I look like a stick. ^^ It's true, my wrists are as small as they are going to get-- my leftover fat is all on my abs/stomach/hips/etc.. I think that I might try changing my focus to trying to build muscle there, and maybe it will change things.. ....

You know how much I love food, so don't worry, I won't waste away. ^^
Kimyunni on July 11th, 2010 06:41 pm (UTC)
Ahhh, cutting down on food intake is good but not if you're really hungry and end up binging after. All you need to do is eat until (or just before) you have that 'I'm full now' feeling. You have to practice to really be intune with your body. Eat low calorie, healthy food - balance your diet as much as possible and as long as you don't stuff yourself you can pretty much keep eating what you want. Couple this with the excersise you already do and that should do it.

When you cut down on too much food, you will probably platau weight-wise and don't see progress. Then you snap and binge! It's a cycle that dieting does to you - so try not to look at at as dieting and just try to think of it as eating healthy :) Loosing weight is a mental thing, because you're changing thinking habits as well as your eating habits.

OH! And it's very imprortant to reward yourself and have icecream reward treats now again. That helps with the binge-attacks too ;) Icecream tates even nicer when it's a treat!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on July 12th, 2010 02:56 am (UTC)
Yeah, I try to do that. I rarely eat junk food, aside from sweets.. Things like potato chips and pizza, they just don't exist in my diet anymore. Unfortunately, real health food like nuts, berries, and fruit are a rarity. T_T It is too expensive for me, at the moment. I can'T wait until I get enough money to really shop!
Kimyunni on July 12th, 2010 03:15 pm (UTC)
Yeah - I can sympathise... I'm poor too ; 3 ; Today I had congee!

Just saw your Salsa entry! Yum! :)
