Hisashiburi na!!
I'm so sorry that I've been awol! It's just that I'm basically being worked to death, and haven't had time to breathe let alone post on lj... I did manage to snag a little time with friends these last few days, but that's about all.. (Since I am on-the-go/working a lot though, I post a lot of rambling crap on twitter. None of it's really fit for lj, but if you want to see what's up, then..)

So, aside from work there really isn't a lot to talk about. Basically, in order to have a 3-week break over the New Years holidays, we are squishing all of the work into the beginning of this month. It's killer, believe me. But I am glad that we have a long vacation coming, because maybe then, finally, I can get to work on my stuff!

Sorry about the cell phone picture... right now, my camera is stashed away in the other room and I am about to go to sleep.

By the way, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the lovely V-gifts, you guys!! They really surprised me, and made me really happy to see them! ^-----^

Info Meme

This is a meme where I talk about myself and answer some questions. This way, people can be a little more educated in the life and times of me, a person on the internets keeping an LJ.

Elaboration is awesome, since one-word answers don't tell you a whole lot.

Jamie ^-^

I've always liked my name. It's not too common, and well... it just wouldn't feel like me without it! Sensei started calling me "J" though, recently, and it's stuck. Then my director for Pop'n Press did the same, without knowing. Oh my.

Just turned 29 recently.. I feel young though, in no way excited about leaving my 20s behind. But oh man, how many things have changed in the last 9 years.. I wonder how many will change in the next 9!

For the last 5+ years, I've been living in/around Tokyo, Japan. Before that, it was college in AZ, before that WA state, before that CA, and before that several different cities in WA. Maybe that's why I was completely comfortable with moving to Tokyo on a whim..

Part-time parrot-trainer!

Okay, that's a lie. I work on manga, as an assistant. Specifically, "The Prince of Tennis". I want my own manga, though! Oh, the dreams ^-^

I also work for JCTV hosting a great show, Asahi Pop'n Press. It's fun, but a lot of hard work!

I also work for Asahi Weekly writing a monthly column.

I also do random jobs for JUNES Japan (modeling company), and have a few others in the works. As well as my own thing! Too much to list while I am this sleepy! It would need it's own meme anyways. =)

Currently looking for Mr/Ms Right. I thought that I had found him recently, but was mistaken. But really, oh well. It hurt at the time. Actually, it still hurts when I think about it. Anyways, I am always up for meeting someone new, because you NEVER KNOW!

I'm not settled enough to have kids. Not by a long shot.

I am the oldest of three, but the only one unmarried and childless. (Jennifer, 27, two kids and one arriving in another month. James, 24, one kid through marriage) Did they just grow up faster than me, or is it because I chose another route? I'm not sure. It's still weird to think of my little sister and brother married, though. And with kids. Maybe it's weird for them to think of me as single and living so far away....?

Because my studio job is so demanding, right now I don't have any pets. I did have a cat until last year, Nessie, but she moved to Canada with my ex-housemate Ami. It seems they are both enjoying each other's company quite a lot. :D

When I change job situations, I am planning to get a snake, octopus, jellyfish, seahorses, tropical fish, a giant beetle, and something furry.. Not sure what yet.. it has to be something in a cage though, since that is all that is allowed in my apartment! (ToT) I owned a sugar glider in the past, so possibly that. Or a squirrel, or a mouse or a hamster. Or a monkey! Okay, maybe not a monkey.. maybe..

1. Manga studio work (Tenipuri). All the time. Almost no time left over!
2. Pop'n Press work. This is where a few days of my month go to.
3. Writing work. I spend the rest of my time on these jobs..
4. There is a tiny bit of time left over to see friends, read, and even watch a movie or two, or tv... sometimes! But really, not much.
5. Trying to work on my projects, but right now basically waiting until my break in a few weeks, it seems.
(6). Searching for people to date.. I never knew it was this hard. But I don't seem to meet the right people, and I don't get out nowadays outside of work much.

Steve and Joanne. No longer married to each other. I wish that I could go back to visit them sometime!

Thanks for sharing your Meme. But don't overwork yourself with all the things you are trying to do.

If you don't mind me asking, which college did you go to in AZ?

My fiance and I raise giant beetles : )
We have six babies from our last breeding pair! :D
I love them... the only difficulty is they love rotting bananas. Fruit flies are our enemies!

Wow! It's a wonder you don't explode by doing so many things! Do take some rest in your weeks off please :)

If you lived in the states I would totally want to date you. You are beautiful.

Sorry if that was too forward of me, I just felt like saying it. :-).

Could you explain more about how you got into modeling with JUNES? I think that would be so cool to do!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on December 9th, 2009 05:56 pm (UTC)
You can just email or call them (search for their website, it's easy to find) and set up an appointment to register and get your photo taken. And there you go! ^^ There are lots of companies out there like that.

Thanks for posting this meme! You're such a huge inspiration to me, and it's encouraging to see that you also worry about things like being single in your late 20s (don't worry girl!) and being totally overworked by a demanding career/careers/big dream. It's important to still make time for your own projects, friends AND downtime too though... ack!

I'm a single 25 year old female software engineer at a big videogame company, but I also record and tour in a band, try to develop my own otome games on the side and dream of moving to japan within the next 2 years - so I can definitely relate to a lot that you write about! Your perseverance and positive attitude really inspires me to do my best too. がんばりましょうね!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on December 9th, 2009 05:57 pm (UTC)
Your comment made me smile just now.... I just wanted you to know that ^-^ *hugs*

Good luck on your dreams too, let's both make ours come true!

Man it sounds like your life is going great. :D I love these kinds of memes. I hope to be living and working in Japan in the future, though I have no idea where I'd work.

Asahi Pop'n Press
you're life seems cool/busy, someday i hope my life can be like that~ ^o^
How come I can't find/watch it anywhere? (not even on youtube)
I'd really like to see it! T^T

Re: Asahi Pop'n Press
Gomen.... I don't think that it's popular enough for anybody to upload it, and I'm not allowed to do anything like that.... but if I ever hear of it, I'll post it here for sure!
kakibellkakibell on December 9th, 2009 03:29 am (UTC)
I don't recommend the seahorses. I had a pair once, and it was a pain in the ass. They're hard to feed, and you can't keep them with many things. Currently, I just have corals and sea anemones with limited fish. I also highly recommend plants to better your mood. (I keep an indoor jungle.) I think I'll copy your meme as well, since I haven't posted to my journal in ages.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on December 9th, 2009 05:59 pm (UTC)
It's alright, I've done a lot of research on how much of a pain they are to keep.. but I've always wanted one, so I figure that I have to give it a try!

Wow you're one busy person. How do you manage to juggle all these?

It's nice to get to know you better.

My sister advised me to go to match.com after she found out that I'm still single. I told her she's crazy.

Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on December 9th, 2009 06:00 pm (UTC)
LOL Actually, I know a lot of people that have met through online dating sites! I even gave it a shot myself a few years ago, but nothing really came of it. I think that I am just too picky.

Thanks for sharing. I've been following your blog for a while, and it's one of the whole two reasons I still visit LJ regularly as I am utterly fascinated with all things Japan. It's wonderful to see a place I hold a special place in my heart for through your eyes, and I genuinely appreciate the priviledge.

I'm also in my late 20's and hopelessly single, so I can empathize. I'd date you if I had the chance. Just sayin'... Keep up the good fight, and don't settle for any less than what you deserve, because you deserve a lot!

Aww, thank you so much! I love to hear comments like these... and who knows about the future ne? ^~

I do have to say your are a really big inspiration to me Jamie ^_^ You helped to give me the motivation I needed to keep working through this hellish semester and I'm really glad I got the chance to meet you with yume_no_koe when I was in Japan. You're really nice, beautiful, and funny and I had a blast hanging out with you. You're also terrifyingly good with cameras >>; everyone's favorite picture from Japan is the one you took in Kichijouji on my camera lol.

I hope to be as strong as you and be able to live in Japan for at least as long as you have ^.^ I also want to be as good at Japanese as you ^^; mine is still lacking, but I'm gettin' there.

I hope I get the chance to hang out with you again when I finally move to Japan in like 2 years ^^; We can go clothes shopping again and maybe I'll absorb some of your fashion sense through osmosis or something >D

Hm, this comment ended up a very odd rant >>; but what I originally wanted to say was you're an awesome person with a lot of amazing skills and one day I want a pet jellyfish too ^^ Also, it's mr. wrong's loss <3 I bet you'll find someone that will put that guy to shame and make you the happiest girl on the planet ^_^ <3
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on December 10th, 2009 02:22 am (UTC)
Which picture is that?? I can't remember anymore!! Send it to me? =D =D =D

And thank you so much ^-^ Yes of course we will hang out then! I rarely get the chance to shop for clothes, but it's actually a lot of fun these days =D

LOL And I'm sure his other 238745964369 girlfriends don't agree with that. Nor his fancub, all of whom probably would kill me if they knew. It would have been worth it if he hasn't been such an ass, though. x.x Where am I ever going to find someone that pretty again?

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this little meme for us! Make sure not to overwork yourself ok? But the vacation time will be nice after working so hard won't it? Haha ^w^;;

I wish I could have pets but my apartment doesn't allow any. For now I'm starting to buy a few plants to take care of and brighten up my apartment. Do you have any plants?

Don't worry about the dating situation. My older sister is in her late 30s and just married recently- shes a wonderful person but it just took time for her to find the right guy. I'm sure it will be the same with you. When the time is right, he'll show up! I'm 24 and have never even dated anyone seriously yet, so I kind of understand how you must feel. For me I would like to meet someone special, but I have so many wonderful friends in my life I don't feel too lonely ^w^.

Will you be doing anything special for Christmas or New Years during your vacation? I'm sure there will be lots of interesting things going on in Tokyo! Enjoy everyday to the fullest!!
