Okinawa, day 1 ♪♪♪
Going to keep this brief because I have a strict schedule tomorrow for myself, but here are some pictures from Okinawa! I had a great time!! Keeping with a longstanding tradition, Eda, Erin and I made the trip together. It was sort of a farewell trip for Erin, since she is leaving Japan (actually, she left today... I cried.. T-T).. but I'm sure that she won't be able to stay away for long and I'm anxious to see her again already! Hope your flight is going well!! I never thought she would actually leave.

That said... Okinawa is the most southern island of Japan. It's sub-tropical, so Japan sort of sees it as their Hawaii. Having never been to Hawaii, I was expecting gorgeous sand beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see, lined with palm trees... apparently that is not what Okinawa has. At least not the main island. Honestly, that was a big disappointment. But I had a good time otherwise! A trip to *real* tropical island is defiinitely on my shortlist of places to visit now!!

Leaving Tokyo on the plane..

Mt Fuji as seen from the air ^^

There was a rainbow pulling into Okinawa!

......Oh Japan. Remember, this is the side of a bus. In public. But really, it's not so rare. Child pornography is obviously considered bad, but Japan stretches the limits, in my opinion. Accordingn to Japan: This is okay. 6 year old boys running around naked is okay (apparently...). 12 year old girls in provocative poses wearing bathing suits and covered in whip cream is okay. Displaying porn manga next to children's manga is okay. Maybe I'm old fashioned, because I don't think it's okay at all. ^^;

Our rental car was lime green! Not that you can tell in this picture. XD

I thought this toilet was funny because it's obviously missing something... Even better was how there was a diagram on the wall off how not to use the child seat.. but there was no child seat.

Shuurijou castle.

I didn't know it was a world heritage site!! YAY! Crossed another off my list!!!!!!!!

Why, hello! These types of guardians were all over, btw.

Eda looks lonely up there..

Erin and I being ourselves XD

Eda showing off her new fashions!

Okinawa was beautiful, hot (only 90s, but over 90% humidity and a beating sun made it hard on us all), but the weather was lovely!

More random shots of the castle..

Actually, the castle that you see was just a copy rebuilt above the ruins of the old one. In WWII the castle was destroyed when it was bombed by America. But in some places you can see through floor windows like this and see the original ruins. It was kind of eerie.

We had just enough time to catch the only beach in Naha....... which wasn't much of a beach at all! ^o^;;;;;;;;;;;; But I had fun playing with my waterproof camera!

It's amazing how much better the beach looks in pictures, lol!!

Erin snapped Eda and I in the water..

Driving around at night.... Oh how I miss cars!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought this t-shirt found along Kokusai doori was particularily sad... It basically says "I don't love Jibun (myself)" Aww. :(

Next... day 2! (eventually)

If you want you can go see this blog: http://www.miyakojima-paradise.com/blog/
Actually it's a French (married to a japanese) who is renting appartments on Miyakojima Island. It's written in French but you can still watch his pictures and videos, and why not going there for your next holidays ^^
I already know that I will go there!!!!!
