Summer means new limited drinks!!
So... one of these is really, really good and the other is not.. Any guess which?

Hint: I love chai &hearrts;

The chai is great and not too sweet, which is the best way to have it! Unfortunately it's a little bit too watery and the calorie (about 200 per bottle!!!!!!!) content is too high. But it's good for a bottled drink and I'm really hooked!!

The shiso pepsi... Well, I had to look up what a shiso is, and it turns out that it's an herb from the mint family... So I thought, HEY! Mint can't be too bad! It might actually be good! But it's not minty at all. It's vaguely like if someone made basil pepsi. LOL I know a few people that liked it, but I'll pass. ^o^;;

Oh Japan!

Ah I miss Japan's drinks!! I used to buy one every morning... which probably explains why I was broke toward the end of the exchange. lol

Shiso pepsi doesn't even sound remotely good. Of course, I cook with shiso so know what it is, I'm forewarned!!

Sticking to black coffee for now, thanks...

So I suppose the new Pepsi logo that looks like someone's pants falling down is not yet made it to Japan, then? Maybe it's for the best.

Shiso is the same thing as perilla IIRC (and is the green leaf you get with sashimi). Dover make a shiso liqueur that is great as a dash in Gin and Tonic. Legato do this if you want to try it sometime :)

Reminds me of the Pepsi clear debacle..

....basil....pepsi....? Oh god... just the thought makes me sick....

Yeah i know someone who uses Shiso to make Pesto since it has a similar taste to Basil.

If at all possible, I'd love it if you could buy a bottle and save it for my visit in October. It just looks so fascinating and I am sure it will be gone by then.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on July 2nd, 2009 05:09 am (UTC)
Sure! Though I'm not sure how good it will be in October. I wonder what the shelf life is..

I love shiso!!
It's got a kind of flowery taste. I'm surprised you didn't know. AMAZING with raw tuna.

Ahhh...Japan and their seasonal things...OMG! And what a coincidence I just had that Pepsi Shiso for lunch today. And my verdict is ICK!!!

Shiso sounds so pretty, but I guess I will never drink it.
Basil isn't tasty at all.

He he, I wonder if the word "CHAI" is a loanword from Russian ('chai' - tea) :)

I love Chai! I was going to guess that was the one that tasted really good~ I just finished Vanilla Chai with a little Cinnamon in it myself. I wonder if I can find the Lipton Ice Chai in the states? That sucks it has a high calorie count but sounds like a nice treat/drink to have once in awhile ^^

Also, I hope you don't mind I sent you a request over on Facebook to be friends? My name is Christina/live in Seattle area - so if you see a Christina adding you, that's me! But I'll understand if you are adding only people you know also. ♥

Ooh! Speaking of recommendation - even though my recommendation is on a show/book, have you ever heard of True Blood? The main character has telepathy and there are vampires, maenads, witches, weres. . shape-shifters! If you might be interested: http://www.charlaineharris.com/bibliography/bibliog-sookie.html True Blood is based off of that series: Sookie Stackhouse novels/Southern Vampire Series.

Ooh, that's awesome that you live in the Seattle area! ^-^ I always love to meet people from there!

Yeah, I read the first in that book series a while ago, but didn't really like it. Sookie really annoyed me. ^^;; I've been watching the tv show, which I think is much better, but somehow it's still not believable enough. When it comes to Vampire shows, I think that Moonlight was really the best of the best. ^^

Ahh, thanks for the Facebook recommendation, but I only add people that I personally know there, gomen. ^^

X3 I tried those two out the other day. The Chai was so-so (give me the stuff at a nearby indian place anytime! It's wonderful) and the Shiso Pepsi - eh... strange. And green. Very. Green.

Have you tried the green tea Coke yet? That wasn't too good IMHO. It just tasted very nutrisweet-ish. :
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on July 3rd, 2009 04:16 am (UTC)
I tried it and it wasn't too bad... But I didn't think it really tasted like green tea at all..
