TK Works
Courtesy of sensei.. LOL, or something like that. During our MEET THE DEADLINE marathon session of the last few weeks, where I never once saw the daylight sky in person (seriously ;_;), sensei took us out for dinner to unwind. ♥ Mmmm, we had huge course dinners at a chinese restaurant.. and it was looooovely. Topped off by some recreation.. we work really hard, but sensei is so generous. I am so happy that he is my mentor. ♥

Well, I'll be going back in again next week.. I really had no idea how hard sensei & his assistants work, and have a completely new vision of what it's like to make a manga. I am definitely impressed. There is a strong work ethic in the studio, and I wonder if it's the same for other studios? I really am interested in finding out. I already find myself daydreaming (bad for when I'm drawing a special attack and nearly nod off XP;;) about what my studio will be like. Maybe a bit like Mayu Shingo's, with the generosity of Konomi-sensei (since I have no idea what Mayu is like in person). My dream is to appear with sensei some day, talking about my new manga hit. I long to hear those words of congratulations come from him, and my current coworkers (as I will be there for them when they debut also!).... it's definitely a dream to shoot for, and I have confidence that I can get there someday.

The people in the picture: Su-chan, Koko-san, Kai-san, Konomi-sensei, Tamusho, Marie, me. =D (sorry, mostly nicknames..)

My comment as we left the studio.. 久しぶりね、靴を… (it's been a while since I've put on my shoes..) was all too fitting. LOL

I need to remember to bring my camera when we go out of the studio!! I always forget and leave it behind. ^^;;

Thank you Lindsay for watering Miaka (my plant) while I was gone!! ♥

SHOW ME YOUR BRA!!!!!! <---- written down for posterity, and it will make sense to like... less than 10 people but oh well. ^^;;

So, the new thing in Japan is apparently the mini-laptop!! Su-chan brought one to the studio, and I totally fell in love with it. OMG. ToT And at the price of free (with signup for wireless internet for it) it's perfect!! I will have to look into this amazing thing. (^o^)// WANT. Why does it cost so much to buy it in America when you can get it for (sort of) free in Japan? I definitely prefer the japanese price. ^^; If I can get one, I am definitely going to!

I may have to say goodbye to my lovely Nessie. ToT I'm not sure.. Ami would love to take her, and I would love to have her stay with me. She's kind of both of ours. She's been with us since she was a little baby, and the thought of her not being around anymore breaks my heart. When I go into the studio and I can't see her, my heart breaks. But I talked with Ami, and if it's possible, it's best for Nessie if she takes her with her when she returns to Canada at the end of next month. I am just at the studio for weeks, and I can't burden the other people here to take care of her. I'm afraid that she'd get forgotten about, too. And what would happen if I move out on my own? I would have to hire someone to feed her. So, if it's possible then Ami's going to take her to Canada with her. I don't know if there is enough time though, to get things ready. Or if she has the money. I don't want to say goodbye to Nessie, but I could always come and visit.. and I'm sure that she will come back to Japan one day. I know she would be well cared-for by someone who loves her. So I can handle it without crying too much (it makes me start crying just to think about it, I love that little cat so much ToT). So, she might leave.. If she stays here, I will definitely find a way to make it work with me. And I will love her forever and ever. No matter where she ends up, she has two mommies that care for her so much. She'll always be my little baby, no matter if she's here or somewhere else. I really wish that she could stay... but who knows. I would rather do what is best for her at this time.. and like I said, I will love her forever and ever and ever, no matter what happens.

Umm.. I decided that I'm going to go for level 1 japanese test this December (lvl 1=fluent). I suck at studying, but I work for weeks at a time speaking nothing but japanese. So I might have a shot... maybe. If I go into 2009 with this intent, though, it's possible that I may have the motivation to make it happen. I would love to look back on this year as the best year of my life (so far), and so I think that it's a goal that I want to set for myself. 頑張るわ!!!!

I'm looking for good music recommendations!!! I listen to my mp3 player so much at work (it's best to get into a good rhythm!), that I go through the songs like crazy. I think I have both Britney and Miley's latest albums memorized by now. Not to mention the Katobe version (SAIKOU!!) of Imperial Hyoutei-myu. XD;; I'm going to load up David Cook's album before I go in again (I LOVE this style of music!). Any other recommendations??!! I'll take a look at pretty much anything, in any language!! ^___^

LOL I can also recite nearly every song from Macross Frontier by heart by now. It's good music, but oh my. ^^;;

Some bad news... it seems that one of my eyes has some kind of injury. The thing is, at the optometrist, they told me that it was my left eye, when it is my right eye that hurts a LOT. Maybe they meant my left eye while they're looking at it, not how they are arranged on me? (if that makes sense) They seem to think that it will heal on it's own if I don't wear contacts for two weeks. But they don't realize that it's been this way for months. Feels good and then comes back. And wearing glasses is not for me, especially in winter. Crap, I am kind of in a dilemmna. Well, I wear my glasses a lot more often now, in any case. I do wish that they'd given me some medication for it, but all that they gave me was a prescription for some dry-eye relief drops. Sad. T-T

Did everyone that I promised to send Tenimyu postcards to get them? Just wondering! ^___^

I am almost done with the Xmas cards.. (erk.... ^^;;) But since I'm going in again so soon, I'll have to send them when I get out of the studio in a week or so-ish. But I'l write here when they're done!

Oh, thank you to Ami, who was a really big help this month!!! ^__^

Hugs to Fru, who really, really deserves them!!!

And congrats to Jen on the big step!!! (so to speak!)

PS: Unrelated, but I really admire singers. I wish that I had singing talent. I really admire the hard work that goes into it, and I'm sure that we never get to see most of it.

I made tortillas today, and they were yuuuuummmmmmy <3 I think that I might make some more for breakfast =^__^= I think I have some jam, and they would be amazing with jam!! If only I could afford some raspberries right now, because I want to bake a cobbler to take into work! But alas, kinda broke.. ^^;;

ARGH I had a terrible nightmare the other day involving my cousin Sonia, who recently got back in contact with me (yay on the contact!). ... Oh man, it was scary. I wrote it in my work diary, but other than that, It hink I'm better off forgetting it. ToT

Back to drawing~ ^__^

PPS: CONGRATULATIONS OBAMA!! ♥♥♥♥ Finally a president that seems like he's going to do a good job! I have high hopes for you!! *hugs* Watching his inaguation speech filled me with hope. For the first time that I can ever remember, I feel proud to be an American. These are the beginnings of good times. ^__^

A video to lighten the mood ♥

Awww, thank you for the nice comments!! ^___^

I took a chance, put my best foot forward, and was lucky enough to get into a job that is like a dream for me.. and if I can do it, then anyone can! I am sure that you can be a voice actor if you try hard!! It's definitely possible! One of my friends (she is Russian) recently became a seiyuu here in Japan, and I'm so proud of her! Another of my friends became a seiyuu in America! If they can do it, you can do it too!! Just don't let go of that dream-- if you work hard enougb, you can definitely make it happen!!

By the way, you're so lucky! Chile is such a gorgeous country. I've always wanted to go to South America... definitely Chile is on the list!! ♥

When are you going to be at the studio next week? Like the work week, or gone for longer? I'll be there on the 1st and 2nd, so if you're around maybe we could do something around then?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 23rd, 2009 01:59 pm (UTC)
I'm going in on Tuesday night, and we're basically going to stay until we are done with the chapter. I head that it could be up to a week, but of course there is no way to know.

I hope that I'll be done early so thatI can see you!! <3 Let's definitely do something if I can!!

ObamaRolls will never ever ever get old. Every time I hear the song now, I hear Obama singing it.

For a music recomendation, I say Mahi, by Aneela. I was introduced to this album accidentally through video production class last year, because I wanted something with a Bollywood sound for a video. This stuff is really high energy and fun, I've always found it fun to work to. :)

And omg how do you go about getting a minipc for practically free? XD I've been eyeing them at Yodobashi for ages, but can't afford them. ;-;
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 23rd, 2009 02:28 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I will give the album a try!! ^___^ I love stuff that is full of energy!

Well, she said that she got it at PC World, by signing up for an internet subscription. It seems that they were giving it away when you signed a contract. I'm going to look into it myself this weekend-- if I find the same deal, I'll tell you! (and vice versa? ^^)

Good job and good luck with work! I'm glad to hear that you're working hard and enjoying!

Waaah! I want a mini pc! Well, more for the fall when I study in Tokyo...don't want to lug my 15" laptop around with me... TToTT Will have to look into the prices in Japan.

I'm so sorry about the situation with Nessie! I know I'd die of heartbreak if I had to let my dogs go but at least you'd be doing what's best for her and yourself instead of trying to hold on and accidentally hurting her.

Music recs! Um, I'm currently obsessed with a Kpop boyband named SHINee so I'd rec them (see icon!)! XD Also Genki Rockets is fun and upbeat! Dunno if you've heard of them (it's Jpop) but it's all in English and it's techno-y. And The Veronicas are pretty popular right now in the US with their song Untouched! The album is called Hook Me Up. They have an older album as well but the new one is better, in my opinion.

Oh no eye injury! I really hope you can fix that! Eye problems are NOT fun. I've been on eyedrops several times a day since I was 12 because of glaucoma and I really hope your problem goes away soon and doesn't develop into anything serious!!!

I have high hopes for Obama as well. Let's hope that he can pull through for us! ♥
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 23rd, 2009 03:00 pm (UTC)
LOL, tell me about it-- I actually lugged my full-size desktop pc to Japan when I came. It took up an entire extra-large suitcase!! LOL

I'll give those bands a try, thanks! ^_____^

Ouch sorry to hear about Nessie/ I still remember when you post her kitty pics.
You guys are making the decisions that's best for her though. At least she's still staying with somebody who loves her.
Good Luck in arranging the journey. I imagine taking a pet out one of a country will not be easy. Will she needs to be quarantined or checked first before leaving/entering a country?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 24th, 2009 06:28 pm (UTC)
There are different restrictions depending on the country, but Ami is looking into it, I think. ^^ Either way, we will both do our best for Nessie!

We should go singing!
I can't recomend much beyond Fukuyama Fire! A Tribute to Nekki Basara becuase I've been on a HUEG Macross 7 fix lately!

I wish you could have hung out with my friends from Austin! We were retards and it was fun! And I sang Watashi no Kare wa pilot! *laughs* It was RIDDICULOUS!

And I want to visit your studio some day! Don't worry, you can come visit mine in Texas! *laughs* I'll have to send you issue 1 of Limitless here in a month or so when we start printing!

I have a Kohjinsha which is a bit more expensive than the new Asus EEE PC and all the other tiny PCs that came out lately. But there's a version with a DVD drive so you can watch DVDs on the go too (didn't get that one) and it generally has a bit more things on it. I love it to pieces (except for VISTA which was on it sadly). It even has a touchscreen so you can draw on it or read a book etc. It's of course also perfect for travelling as it's so light and small :)

Definitely try to get one! Just watch those packages with Internet. Sometimes it's a lot cheaper to buy the PC and take a cheaper internet with it than to take the package as they're trying to sell you their most expensive product and you're usually bound for 2 years.

Something that's also to consider: I heard that they don't offer these kind of packages to foreigners anymore (even if you have a gaijin card and live there) because so many bought an iPhone package and then left Japan and practically got it for free as they never paid their bills :(
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 23rd, 2009 04:34 pm (UTC)
Yeah I'm a little worried that the packages won't be available to foreigners. But I guess that I'll find out. ^^;

I think though, that it'd be best for me to get the free one in any case. =D Even with paying the internet service for two years at $40/mo (how much my friend pays), it's still cheaper than paying even half that for a service and buying the laptop separately. ^^ Plus, of course I have no money for a laptop at all and won't any time soon. T_T

I rec Wonder Girls "So Hot" and "Tell Me" lolol perfectly catchy poppy songs by Korean girl group for energy~ I learned the dance for So Hot and it was fun. XD

Good luck with meeting deadline and studying for Level 1!

Konomi-sensei sounds like such a great mentor. aaaah.♥

Good luck on your Japanese test! With all your work, I'm sure you're more than ready for it. :D

Also, the minicomputer sounds awesome. ugh. WANT. Why am I not in Japan?!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 24th, 2009 06:32 pm (UTC)
Thanks!!! Oh, trust me, I am nowhere near ready for level 2, let alone level 1. But I'm improving steadily, and it's for the sake of my work (and life), so I'll do my best! ^^

Congratulations again!!!! I get hope and inspiration to follow my own dreams whenever I read posts of yours like this.

My birthday's on the 25th, and Carlos and I are taking a road trip to Key West and we're *so* taking a picture when we get to the southernmost point in the lower 48 states. ^_^

I wish you the best in all of this, and hope that you know we're all rooting for you. I can't wait to pick up a manga off of the shelf here and be all like "Not only do I *know* this chick, but she introduced me to my soul mate from 10,000 miles away or so" :)

All the best to you, happy 2009, and keep following your dreams.

~Kimi
