♥♥♥ Breaking Dawn FTW FTW FTW!! ♥♥♥
I promised genkischuldich that I would write what I thought about the final book in the Twilight series.

Right as I started reading, Kat said that there is a lot of wank online about the book and that a lot of people were unhappy with it, so I was kind of nervous that I wouldn't like it too. I'd been waiting for it for such a long time, and I basically attacked the book and waited for whatever upsetting thing was sure to happen...

WTF? Why would any fan of the book be unhappy with it????

I myself was overjoyed!! ^O^ I had been tearing my hair out waiting for three things to happen ever since the first book (and ESPECIALLY after the third book with all of that dripping sexual tension):

- Bella and Edward to have heated Vampire-Human first sex. (yum!)
- Bella and Edward to get married (awww)
- Bella to become a vampire (I'm so jealous!)

Okay, I could have done without the bizarre vampire baby (blah, I don't like babies) thing and the Jacob-gets-Recognized-to-her thing. But it was better that that happen than Bella ends up with Jacob or something.

I mean, Twilight is basically a big Self-Insert original fanfiction. Only slightly better written. But that's the appeal of it-- decent writing, and a main character that girls can write themselves over because she is boring and has no personality. It's a win-win formula, right? I mean, who doesn't want an Edward? (I do!!) Who doesn't want to live forever under those conditions? (I do!!)

If Bella had ended up with Jacob or not became a vampire, I probably would have cried, I'd have been so crushed. After all, Bella is me (and you and you too!), and I want an Edward. I also want to be eternally beautiful, and strong and fast and able to live forever and never get old. And who doesn't want to sparkle? *^-^*kirakira

I was so amused when Bella was more beautiful than the other vampires when she was finally turned, and faster/stronger/unneeding to go through the "1st year" of torture that all newborn vampires have to go through, just because she was awesome. Oh, and she's had cool mind powers all along, voila! ^.^ If it wasn't apparent that this was a Self-insert (the author said it herself) and a Mary Sue, it would have been uncool. But it just made the book cheesier, and therefore more awesome. =D

Did I mention all of the vampire sex?? :D;;;;; Too bad that she left most of the good details out! I wonder if Stephenie has written explicit fanfiction of her own books and hidden it away in her bedside stand for rainy nights, you know? ^.~ Woe that they could not include it in the novels, but such is the fate with teen novels. (while we're at it, I'm also disappointed that the Harry Potter novels did not include sex. Well, they didn't talk about it directly, anyway)

So I loved it! It was a fitting end to the series, seriously. I would love to read more about Edward and Bella's life together after this (and continue pretending that Bella is me, of course), if she decides to write any more. ^^

If I had to complain about the book, I could only say two things:
- The sex scenes were not explicit enough.
- I am not Bella *cry*

So, I loved it! I will definitely reread it when I get it back from Sarah, who promptly snatched it away.. =D;;

Don't read this review too seriously.. I'm a little giddy at the moment due to other things, and most of it's very tongue-in-cheek. Though I did mean everything. I really did like the book and those are really the reasons why.

So, what was your opinion, if you read the book? =^___^=

You're welcome! I know how much you love hot het vampire sex (and werewolves), fantasy, emo, and stupid!girls, so you're always welcome to borrow the books from me!

But between Tohru and other people telling me about the Twilight wank (apparently there's an LJ comm just to make fun of the book, the author and the fans! because you know, obviously it needs making fun of since it is such Srs Bzns) and you telling me why it is awesome, I feel I understand it all so deeply that I actually never ever need to read a single word of it.

OH baby bring on the vampires and werewolves, you know what I like!!

XDD I must say I'm one of those that don't like the book, because its too much like a fanfic. DDD: The plot is interesting though, but I really can't connect with the characters. LOL.

Was totally amazed when Jacob imprinted on the child. LOL.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 2nd, 2008 03:39 pm (UTC)
LOL I know, that was so crazy! We should have seen it coming, though. After all of the emphasis that they'd put on the other guy imprinting on the little girl. XD;;
Williamgenkischuldich on August 27th, 2008 01:48 pm (UTC)
I'm glad that it worked out for you after all. :)
illuminesce on August 27th, 2008 02:29 pm (UTC)
I laughed at the, "who doesn't want to sparkle?" comment. :D I want to sparkle! Me me! XD I'm glad it turned out good for you - I would read Twilight, but probably not spend munnies on it <_< *is her opinion*
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 2nd, 2008 03:40 pm (UTC)
Me too me too!! I so want to sparkle (and live forever! :3)

Maybe they have it at your library? Or you can borrow it from a friend. ^^
v_rozouvan on August 27th, 2008 03:28 pm (UTC)
I have never heard of the books. With nothing to do, I just might head over to http://www.mininova.org/. Should be an interesting read. However, something puzzles me. You mention

I also want to be eternally beautiful, and strong and fast and able to live forever and never get old.

You can't do that, and not be one of the gods. The downside to them, they are eternal - they have no way out. Most likely, at times, they wish for the opposite - be able to "call it quits". I would go as far to say they _ENVY_ the simplistic human life.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 2nd, 2008 03:41 pm (UTC)
There is always the possibility!! ^^ I really do want to do all of those things, so I will continue to search for the fountain of youth. ^^
hyokohyoko on August 27th, 2008 03:54 pm (UTC)

I SO LOVED Breaking Dawn. :D

It was simply perfect.
Couldn't have a better ending than that. <3
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 2nd, 2008 03:41 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I totally agree!!! ^O^ (though I want more!)
jean_kun on August 27th, 2008 05:30 pm (UTC)
I liked the book too! Personally, I thought it was a good ending to the series, though I wish there was some more details and events....like, I totally thought there was going to be a fight near the end, but no XDDD
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 2nd, 2008 03:42 pm (UTC)
XDXD I was very glad that there wasn't a fight at the end. ^^ For a while there, I was terrified that something bad would still happen and it would end badly!

eh, well, you know about me, I'm a slight intellectual snob on all things literature. Part of why I don't appreciate the book is because of its wild popularity for being such terrible fiction.

It's not so much that I'm against bad writing (which I am, but not so much the case here), as I'm against how so many people call this good literature. It's absolute garbage, and while I'm not going to say that people shouldn't be allowed to read rubbish written by a horny subpar fiction writer (as I read fanfiction for recreation), I'm not going to want it being appreciated as something new and refreshing. It's not.

It's not like how Paolini's Eragon isn't Star Wars with a dash of LoTRs. It's the likes of Entertainment Weekly and Border's Marketing specialists who stress the non-existant profoundness of this book so that they can milk it. That's what I'm against in this book. A replacement for Harry Potter indeed, thats what EW called it, as well as MTV. The New York Times had sense to talk about how subpar it is as literature... and of course, it's only the NYT that gets all the flames about how they are being elitist or "not getting it."

Bah. eh, sorry for the mini rant there. if you enjoyed the book, you enjoyed it, and I'm not going to rile on you for that. I mean, if I did, people have open shots at me for reading and liking pop-fiction.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 2nd, 2008 03:45 pm (UTC)
Oh, I agree. It's nothing in the world of literature.. I prefer to think of it as a teenager's version of a smutty Harlequin Romance. AKA great for the entertainment value and to get the blood pumping, but not something that you're going to remember 75 years down the line as an old man/woman. ^^
C L O V E Ridyllica on August 28th, 2008 02:40 pm (UTC)
I have no opinion on the book since I haven't read the series even. I think its due to the fact that it is in first person, and I just don't like it when authors write in first person. I don't know why. sighs Oh well. I'll try to read it since everyone recommends it, but still...first person. ARGH!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 2nd, 2008 03:46 pm (UTC)
Oh but I think that really added to the feeling that YOU were Bella. Which I think is what the author was going to. It's a really nice little escape from reality, that series. :3
sacredwindsacredwind on August 30th, 2008 04:21 am (UTC)
OMG I totally agree with your review!!!
and i also agree that the sex scenes were not explicit enough...
I loved how Bella was all over Edward(she was a beast), but i doubt anyone would blame her! (I wish i was her too!) ^__^
But i do wish Stephenie would write another one...i heard she'll write a book from Edward's point of view (hope she does!!!)
And i'm anticipating the movie that comes out in November, i hope they didn't change TOO much when converting it into a movie...hope you'll get a chance to see it! ^__^
Dang i typed WAAAAAAAAAAY too much, sorry ^^; I just get over-excited when talking about Twilight!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 2nd, 2008 03:48 pm (UTC)
XDXD I totally want an Edward of my own!!! :3 Completely hot (supposedly), immortal, chivalrous, and utterly devoted to you, what more can one ask for, lol?

I'm actually quite upset about the movie. Well, maybe upset isn't the right word. I think, disappointed? To me, Edward and Bella look nothing like I imagined (Bella doesn't look like 'every girl' at all, and her voice is too low, and Edward is way too manly.. x.x;). But I will still goo see them. >.>;;
sacredwindsacredwind on September 2nd, 2008 11:51 pm (UTC)
Yeah i want an Edward too ^__^ (maybe i'll get one for Christmas,JK ;D )
But yeah i kinda feel that way about the actors too, absolutely nothing like how i imagined...but oh well i'm just hoping they didn't change too much of the original storyline yuh know! I heard that the scene where Bella finds out Edward's a vampire(that was the scene where they were in his car on the way back from that one shopping center place)got included into the meadow scene.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 3rd, 2008 01:18 am (UTC)
Wow, that's going to be weird..... how else do they explain the super-fast running and the sparkles? O.o;;
sacredwindsacredwind on September 3rd, 2008 10:09 pm (UTC)
From what I've seen (from the internet and MTV caps) the running will take place at Bella's house? And i have know idea how they are going to tie in the sparkles...But i found out some terrible news from my friend last night!!!

She went on Stephenie's website...and Stephenie says that she probably won't finish Midnight Sun (Edward's point of view from Twilight) b/c she let a friend read it and that FRIEND put it on the internet without her knowledge...so of course Stephenie's pissed! But she said that if she cooled down a little she might finish it, but she told everyone to not count on it. And i was soooooooooo looking forward to Midnight Sun! T__T

where did you go ... T_T crycrycry

Hi, I have to comment just because I want to say this: I'm going to read this book only because of those spoilers you told 8D. I loved the first book, but then the second one...well, I didn't really like it so now I'll start a search for the 3rd one, all thanks to you ^^.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 2nd, 2008 03:49 pm (UTC)
Oh man, definitely read the third and fourth books!! I LOVED the first one, but then hated the second one too! I guess I'm just not a big Jacob fan. :333
sansanita: jhudorasansanita on April 17th, 2009 04:11 pm (UTC)
A little late but...
I think most of fans are dissapointed about the free caracteristics of vampires Steph created. But, basically is what you said. Is about a common girl (me) who finds a dream guy (Edward) and he is better than real because is a vampire (everyone wants a vampire, since ever). Is a very good original fanfic, and is possible that if someone else had the idea before, could writte it most fangirl mode, but Steph had the idea first, and that's all.

I included the review on my memories.
