It's a Rumic World exhibit---
Trisha is heeeere! Well, that's nothing new. She's been here for a while! ^O^ But between the last post (Wonderfest) and this one (It's a Rumic World) a week later, she got here. I also went to see Tenimyu (yayayay!! but more on that later), cleaned the house, went to the chocolate cafe, and.. errr, not sure? I had my Bday party on Saturday, went to Wonderfest on Sunday, ate at Sweets Paradise (all you can eat sweets buffet!) with Lindsay and Wataru on Tuesday (my actual birthday yay! I'm now 28, wow!), cleaned the house like crazy on Wednesday, continued on Thursday morning, picked up Trisha on Thursday night, and went to the chocolate cafe and then Tenimyu on Friday (again, more about that later, it deserves it's own post even if I can barely contain my enthusiasm)! So that brings me to... It's a Rumic World!!

I am an ooooooooooold Ranma fan! Actually, it's really one of my first favorites, and probably my first anime obsession after Sailor Moon.. I drew art, read fics, made a huge elaborate website, you name it.. Actually, does anyone remember a really dorky ranma site called YKYWTMR12W: You Know You Watch Too Much Ranma 1/2 When? I spent so much time on it, and learned so much html, since I wrote the site from scratch! I was a bit of a snob that way, lol! Ahhh, so anyways, Ranma holds a special place in my heart. =^-^= Speaking of the mangaka, my favorite series of hers was of course Ranma 1/2, followed by Mermaid Forest, Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, and others. I do like Inu Yasha, though I stopped reading it at around volume 10, I think? I can't even remember..

Anyways, this was a really great exhibit!! First in the door was a really great opening animation!! You can watch it here on youtube:

Then inside, the rooms were divided into four areas featuring ORIGINAL artwork from both the manga and the special color/cover images!! It was SO COOL!! It's really rare that I get a chance to see the original work of mangaka, and this was such a real treat! I can't even say how long I spent staring at the details of especially the color images, studying how they were made and the techniques that she used and comparing them to the printed editions. It was fascinating!! I could stare at original artwork for hours!! It's so different than the final product! And sure, Rumiko isn't the best artist in the world, but there is something special about her style that makes it just jump off of the page. Ah, I was in heaven surrounded by 30 years of creativity!!

After the exhibitions (Urusei Yatsura, then Maison Ikkoku, then Ranma, then Inu Yasha), was the special viewing room! Depending on the day, you could either see a new Inu Yasha OVA, or a new Ranma one!!! The first new Ranma in 10 years, you can bet that I was SO there!!!! :D :D :D It was titled Okumu! Shunmin Kou, and based on the Incense of Spring Sleep story from Volume 34 of the manga. Uwaaa!! It was so great! I really revived my love of Ranma then and there... and while I think that the english voice actors for Ranma fit the characters a lot better, it was easy enough to overlook it and really get back into the swing of things! Uwaaaaa!! ♥♥♥

After the video room was a really awesome display that was Lum drawn by 34 different artists. Among them were the artists for Azumanga Daioh and Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei!! They were so awesome, and I'm kind of sad that they weren't reprinted in the program book that I bought at the end... ;o; I would really love copies of them!!

I wasn't able to take pictures inside. There weren't any signs not to photograph inside (just ones that said not to use your cell phone though of course nobody listens to them.. -_-;;), so there aren't any, but this site has a bunch (they are more bold than me! XD): http://www.furinkan.com/features/articles/itsarumicworld.html

Here are the pictures that I did take, though:
Me and Trisha being silly:

And that's that!! By the way, if you're a fan and you haven't read it, let me link you to the best Ranma 1/2 fanfic ever, written by a friend of mine. ^__^ Daigakusei no Ranma. Read read read!! It's really good!!

If there ever was ONE event I should be seeing, it would be this one, and wouldn't ya know it I'm just stuck here in Arizona....

Glad to see you had fun at both Wonderfest and Rumic World!

(And thanks for the link back! ... yes, I've finally gotten off my butt to write the next episode...)
