Aftermath and such....
First off, the Gundam 00 doujinshi is dooooooooooooooone!!! (yeyeyeyeyey!!) You can see samples and order it here: http://www.geijutsuya.net/anthology.html The copies are really limited, and we're starting to get a fair number of orders now, so I suggest that you hurry and make sure you get a copy! :3

Pepsi's new summer flavor is really delicious!! Last summer it was Cucumber Pepsi (yuck!), and this time it's Blue Hawaii! It's supposed to be pineapple&lemon flavor, but it actually tastes EXACTLY like a blue raspberry slurpee!! UWA! I must must must make some slurpees with it this summer!! So nostalgic~~ :O Mmmm, I loooove it. <3

Well, yesterday was quite busy actually.. but I feel like one of 100 weights has been taken off of my shoulders, at least. Eda and I went to take the doujinshi to the printers, which was near Tokyo station. It didn't take too long, and it was really nice that we could see other examples of their printing work at the same time. ^^ It's going to look SO amazing when it's printed up!! I celebrated by going to karaoke with Aloni, which I haven't done in such a long time! Ages.. Ahhhh I loooove karaoke. ^^

Well, Tuesday wasn't really a great day for me. On the way to work (I only work a block away from the murders), I had to walk past the memorials for the dead. It was really sad, and so moving to think of how strangers are coming together, caring for all of the people whom have died. The government and people have set up monuments where anyone is welcomed to leave flowers or gifts for the victims. I didn't know this, but in Japan it's a custom to leave items that the deceased enjoyed in life, so there were many bottles of soda, canned coffee, snacks, and manga in addition to the flowers. So, so sad.. In the morning, the pile was somewhat small, but by the end of the day was taller than I was. Also, there were helicopters flying overhead for most of the day.. I learned that the security camera in front of our building apparently captured the killer's truck on video while it was moving over people (he drive down our street and into the closed-off intersection where he stopped and got out). Supposedly the video is on youtube, but I can't find it and it got quite depressing to search through so many videos of the aftermath..

In lighter news, behind our building, there was some kind of filming going on in the alley. I leaned out the window (we are on the 7th story, lol) and took a few pictures. No idea what drama it is, but if anyone sees it on tv, please let me know? The scene that I watched (I couldn't hear though obviously), was a few schoolgirls taking a manga (?) or some book from an otaku-looking boy.. I must watch it. :3

Blue Hawaii pepsi = YUMYUMYUM!!

The memorial in Akihabara on the corner in front of Sofmap.. It was taller than me by the end of the day.. I wonder what it will look like today..

Lots of drinks and manga being left for the deceased..

Down the street by Mc Donalds, there was a smaller memorial being set up along the street. It felt a little more private, so there were more people spending long amounts oftime here.. The kids in the back are trying to light some incense.

So sad.. If I had any extra money right now, I would definitely leave some flowers or something.. But I will just leave my thoughts instead..

The drama being filmed..

Anyone recognize the actors or the uniforms or something? Please let me know if you do! Sorry I don't have anything closer up, we were on the 7th floor, though it was right below us! ^^

I think it's good that the government is setting up memorials, I think it probably really helps.

Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on June 12th, 2008 12:09 pm (UTC)
I think so too. ^^ It was especially nice today, they'd cleaned up a lot of the memorials from the night before and were managing the offerings so that there was always space for people to pay their respects. ^^

Ahh thats so sweet. I wanna leave something there but i'm like in Singapore. I bet, by now, it will very that those victims will definitely rest in peace and is very thankful for the thoughts left by you and the others in Japan even though some may be a stranger.

Ah gomen, but i dont recognise that drama. -___-"

I noticed a lot of the cans or bottles are opened, at least at the smaller monument. Is that so the deceased can drink, I assume?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on June 12th, 2008 12:11 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I think so! At first I thought that it was trash, but after seeing so many, I'm fairly sure that it's there to make it easier for the deceased to drink..

At least I hope so... :x

Aww the memorials are so sweet.

I'm glad you like the Blue Hawaii. It was a bit bimyou to me. XD;;;

お疲れ様 on the doujinshi!! ^______^ I'm glad the orders are picking up~~

Hey dear, glad you're finished. must be exciting!

I wanted to ask though, you know any good maid cafes or butler cafes in Tokyo? Something a bit different from the traditional sense.

I'm headed up to Tokyo on the 25th, and I'm on assignment for my newspaper. :D

And of course, I'd like to meet you if you have the chance ^^
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on June 12th, 2008 12:16 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah, there are a ton!! =^___^= There's even a Gundam maid cafe in Aki! And a butler cafe in Ikebukuro, but you need to reserve way ahead of time to get a spot.. I'll see what I can find for you as far as their websites go~~

I'd love to meet up with you! Though I'll be working the 26-27th, and leaving for LA on the 28th, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have... Maybe in the evening of the 27th for a while?

Wow. Yeah, on regular news and Japanese internet there are endless films of the event happen, caught by security cameras and what. I saw some on the news, but haven't made a point to search out more (but, they are linked in threads I read on 2ch).

The mug cup I use for coffee in the morning was bought near there, seeing that one mug left made me think of it.

I might be going back for a visit this fall, makes me wonder what will change. Well, what more will change, I guess - I'm still amazed the 秋葉原デパートis gone :P

/went there from small kid time! How can the world change?! :D

Wow, that is so sad. That's a huge memorial.

But OMG! Blue Hawaii Pepsi??? OMG! I WANT! Why don't we get awesome things like that in the states??? O.O
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on June 12th, 2008 12:17 pm (UTC)
XD They always have a strange summer flavor over here. I think that it's to make up for the fact that Japan has almost no variety in their soft drinks. XD;;
tl;dree970 on June 12th, 2008 06:16 am (UTC)
Wow, that is a lot of flowers! I wonder how long they'll continue to leave them... The guy who died in front of my house, they left flowers and coffee cans (well--I think that was memorial and not just littering) for a couple months before stopping. And then recently, for the 1 year anniversary, I guess.

At least the doujin is done... I hope it gets here before I leave for the States!

Also, I got Hyoutei badges if you need one!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on June 12th, 2008 12:17 pm (UTC)
OMG really??? Yeah, definitely! ^O^ Where did you get them?

that blue hawaii pepsi looks soooo good! sad that we never get anything cool like that here in the US~

those memorials are so big~ or at least, widespread anyways. it's such a nice gesture ^^

D: don't recognize the people in that picture for the drama.......i mean, it's a bit hard to tell just from an overhead view. it's making me curious though XDD
Kira_Shadowkira_shadow on June 12th, 2008 08:54 am (UTC)
Omedettou to the printing of the anthology!~ *throws confetti*

...why don't we get funny flavoured soda over here? T_T

the memorials make me sad...and yet it's nice to see the people are remembered...it'd be sadder if nothing had happened at all and everyone had been left to continue as it was.

mh...hard to tell from the bird view perspective but maybe it's "Yasuko to Kenji"? Can't tell tho since it's not aired yet (summer season drama, so I guess they'd start shooting now tho since the promo clips have been released)
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on June 12th, 2008 12:19 pm (UTC)
Ooooh, do you have a link to the promo clip? I'll have to check it out and maybe recognize them! ^^

What I love most of Japan is how there's so much attention to detail so much so that people are considerate enough to open up drinks for the deceased. It's often the 'little" things that move me the most.

Rest in peace to the deceased.

Oh yes, I agree! The new Pepsi is pretty interesting. Actually I'm drinking it right now :D

I've read your last entry about the Akihabara incident and of course saw it here in the news. I'm still a little bit shocked .... not that something like that happened in JAPAN, I mean Japanese people are only humans, too, but that it was in Akihabara! One of my fav places in Tokyo!

And it's really good that nothing happened to you!! :/

Oh gosh. I'm so sorry for the victims' friends and family. And sorry, I haven't been updating either since there were problems with my computer. I think its great that the government is setting up the memorials. It was really nice of them.

Although, somewhat, the same thing has happen to our town. Just recently, the park nearby my home, a jogger who goes to UCF was murdered as well. We've been setting up memorials at the park. Its just so...sad and at the same time, I wonder why people can't just talk it out instead of harming others.

Although, I'm not sure what happen to the victims or anything like that since I haven't been on. Gomen!
