I'm so happy, it feels like a weight has been taken off of my back!! A really, really heavy weight! *sigh of relief* Now I can resume a really busy but otherwise not all-consumed-by-doujinshi life. =^-^= I actually still have a LOT that I want to do, but I can finally bring it to the forefront now that I don't have to work on this any more (not that I have a choice, it's due today and I sent it in this morning. I have to go to work soon, so there is no time to alter it anyways). I had to stay up really late last night, and I didn't have time to do the cover (I've been working on this nonstop for weeks, but still not a stitch of time to draw another picture...), so I had to use one of the pictures from inside, blown-up.. And after I was putting the letter on, I realized that I haven't screentoned two of the pages! I don't know how I missed them *sigh*. But there was no time to redo them either (it was already 3 am and I had to be up at 7 because I have to work today..). So I kind of half-assed them. -_-;; Buuuut! It's finished, and it's not too bad for a first project, really! Just so long as people enjoy it, and all of the copies eventually fade into oblivion and are never connected to my professional career, lol. Anyways, I will put up information about it after Comic City (which is when I'll receive the copies, in two weeks). ^-^

Now to get ready for work.. I am making myself go in an hour early.. because I don't have any idea what to do! Why oh why did my first day in a new job (I've worked there for a year but I've never taught classes before), have to come today, when I've had maybe 4 hours of fitful sleep at the most? ^^;; I was so tired this morning when I got up that I ended up throwing up.. *does not handle sleep-dev well* I am really, really muddy in the head right now, but I'm hoping that I can clear out my head more. Even if teaching isn't my dream job (unless it's art/photography to pros), at least I want to do a good job! *still clueless about what to do* I only have a few ideas, I'll have to plumb my coworkers for advice!!

PS: That pic is my street from yesterday. It was supposed to rain, but it was actually nice and gorgeous!! Though I was holed up inside all day, I stole outside for a few minutes to take a picture. ^-^ Now, off to WORK!! *nervous*

Ah, the rewards of dedication.
Stunning pictures. Speaking of weather in Japan - I'll be in Chiba in June...what's the temp around that time?

Mmm I guess it depends on what you're used to. For me, it's not all that hot (I'd guess 80s?), but it's super-humid, so it's a little difficult to not walk around and sweat your entire supply of water out in an hour. ^^;;

There's just something about artists holing themselves up and concentrating fully on their art that I really appreciate.

But are the majority of residential areas as pretty as the one photographed (narrow streets, plants, etc.)?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on April 26th, 2008 08:37 am (UTC)
Me too~~~ ^__^

Yeah, the neighborhoods in the city are pretty much similar to this. I the country it's a lot more spread-out, though. ^ ^

Congratulations on finishing it. :3

I've never drawn comics but I am just IMAGINING it's a similar feeling to either finishing some giant programming project (from my work experience) OR finishing some giant term paper (from when I was in school).

Either is a great feeling, only made better when it's finished at the same time things turn to spring and you can finally walk around without a coat.

When I was in school, and had to write the big papers (oh how I hate writing with the passion of 1000 white hot suns, but...) I used to use wooden pencils, I had lots of boxes of them from when I was in lower school in Japan, with my name on. So, I'd start a fresh one, and only use that one. With a plastic pencil cap on. But so sharpening it would make it smaller, and smaller...

The one from the last paper I had to do for college I still have, it's maybe an inch long. Ah, the suffering. Which is DONE.

Also I had some little bells on a thread I would carry around in my pencil box, they were happy teal colored with wrinkles in, like water in summer, I would look at it while writing and think, only a bit more! and then summer... :P

So if you're drawing on paper, you still get the usual "screentone"? The kind you rub out onto the drawing?

In highschool the 漫画部 would use it, so I had some, then later when I was in college I lived with an artist (who since got jobs in video game animation) who had some too.

I guess if people do stuff all on line there are ways to get similar effect, I don't know. I've seen some "how to" pages hinting at it.

I remember as a very very naive kid thinking "how they get the dots so even...?" :)
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on April 26th, 2008 08:59 am (UTC)
Yeah!! Think like writing a publishing-quality term paper when you've never written one before, and you don't know how to write one, plus the computer that you're using is constantly crashing and being very very very slow "thinking". Also, and trying to do it in japanese, which you can't speak now. LOL

But it's good to get it off my shoulders!! ^___^ I don't like the finished product all that much, but it was a good learning experience so that from now on I can do awesome things! ^O^

For screentones, I have the normal kind, where you cut out the pieces and then they stick to the drawing. ^^
