60 Things you didn't know about me...
I need to keep a rolodex, seriously. x.x

60 Things You Possibly Didn't Know About Me
1. What is in the back seat of your car right now? I'm the opposite of my roommate-- I hate public transport with a passion!! Well, it's not the transport itself-- in places like Tokyo it's actually really convenient! I don't even mind walking 15 min to the station to use it. I just hate the people on it-- rude rude RUDE! There are days (like yesterday) when rude people on the train ruin my entire day. I hate being in crowded trains because people don't care where they step-- come on, when I step on someone I'm going to say "I'm sorry!!", but nobody EVER does here. It feels like they're doing it on purpose, which is very aggravating when you're already using the train to go somewhere that you don't want to be (work) at a time when you don't want to be outside (before sunup) in the freezing cold. Then you're scrunched up next to some disgusting dreamless salarimen that is coughing and hacking, and you stop at a station where smoke pours in from the smoking station outside. No thank you, I want my car back. ;_; Um, yeah.. Seriously, I would kill for a car right now. Definitely getting my license this year and a car probably next year.
2. When was the last time you threw up? Hmmm, it was a few weeks ago. I randomly felt really sick and had to run to the toilet! Ewww. It was something I'd eaten the night before, I'm sure.
3. What's your favorite curse word? ^_^;; I'm trying not to use real curse words as much (and failing..). But seriously, "you illiterate asshole!!" is the one that I think of the most. Because illiteracy is completely voluntary in a modern adult I see it as one of the worst insults ever, and there are a billion people in my little city that can't read the nonsmoking street signs. Iliteracy is a big problem in Tokyo!!
4. Name 3 people who made you smile today? Well, I've just woken up and the only person whom I've seen is my cat.. ^^ She did make me smile though, curling up on my bed. ^^ Yesterday, Melissa and a few friends of hers made me smile. =D Despite my bad mood.
5. What were you doing at 8 am this morning? I was in bed trying to sleep a little more! But it didn't work, it never does! XP I love getting up early when I don't have to go to work!
6. What were you doing 30 minutes ago? Toilet. =D
7. What will you be doing 3 hours from now? Hopefully cooking lunch, and working on manga stuffs. I need to go to the store too to get Jun's present for her party tonight.
8. Have you ever been to a strip club? No.. I wanted to at one point, but never found the chance, I guess. My friends aren't really strip-club type people, and here in Japan it seems to be really segregated, so I don't think they'd allow women in. Especially foreign ones.
9. What is the last thing you said aloud? "Nessie I love you...*snugglesnuggle*"
10. What is the best ice cream flavor? OMG how can I choose?!?!?!!! It totally depends on my mood what I'm feeling a craving for. There are so many amazing flavors out there, and the more complex the better!! I suddenly want Baskin Robbins' rainbow flavor!
11. What was the last thing you had to drink? Milk!! Yum ♥♥♥
12. What are you wearing right now? Pajamas =D
13. What was the last thing you ate? Chocolate fudge.. >.>;; It was left over from what I made for Valentine's day and just sitting here by my desk and all.... Gotta eat breakfast but it's so cold I don't want to make anything (but I want miso soup with veggies!!)
14. Have you bought any new clothing items this week? Well, technically this is Sunday morning so I haven't done anything this week yet.. But I bought a shirt at Jam Pixie for 99yen yesterday. I don't know if it fits because they won't let you try anything on. But I figured, 99 yen.... what can go wrong? I should try that on now, really.. Other than that, I haven't bought anything in a while. I hate winter clothes, and of course clothes in Japan are especially ugly/ill-fitting. That will change in Spring, I'm sure! If I can find any spare change you know I will buy all that I can ^^;; Gotta stop that!
15. When was the last time you ran? I only run in emergencies. Because actually I'm unable to breathe when I run. I think that I have asthma, so I really need to get that checked out. But I have a hard time finding an American doctor in Japan.. (probably because the money is so much worse here)
16. What's the last sporting event you watched? I don't know.. I think I watched a few minutes of a soccer game a few years ago. But I don't really care for most sports so I wouldn't go out of my way to see them. I really want to go to sumo sometime though!
17. What is one thing you could totally live without doing? Drugs.
18. Who is the last person you emailed? I mailed Athy yesterday! I'm proud of myself, gotta keep up that trend! ^^
19. Ever go camping? Not recently.. I used to do thi sall the time when I was little and I really miss it!! This summer, after I get my license, I plan to rent a car with friends, buy all the equipment (must save!!!), and get out and camp! You can't really do it without a car here, but it's about time!
20. Do you have a tan? I wish!! ;o; But I can't seem to tan. And besides, it's winter and who in their right mind wears the kind of clothes that you can tan in in Tokyo winter?
21. What is your guilty pleasure? I don't feel guilty about chocolate, so I don't think there could really be anything else..
22. What kind of foundation do you use? Whatever I can get that isn't yellow! :O
23. Who is your cell phone service provider? Vodafone... err, I mean Softbank. It's the same thing though!
24. Do you drink your soda from a straw? At a shop, maybe.^^
25. What did your last IM say? IM?????! Wow, I haven't used that in a loooooooooooooooong time!
26. Are you someone's best friend? Always. ^__^ I have lots of best friends and I'm sure they reciprocate. Distance doesn't matter! ♥♥♥
27. What are you doing tomorrow? Today? I'm going to a friends' concert! It's been so long and I really want to see her! And since her birthday is tomorrow, we've got to celebrate!!! ^_____^
28. Where is your mom right now? At home? I don't know, but I'm sure that it's nearing home time over there. Either that, or she's at work or a family member's house.
29. Look to your left, what do you see? My kerosene heater.. the only thing that has saved me this winter! (Thanks Erin!) It's expensive as hell, but it's the only reason that I haven't felt like I was dying from the cold!
30. What color is your watch? Silver. It was a gift from my parents for my 10th birthday, and it rarely leaves my arm now. I only take it off to switch it for a different watch on rare occasions. But usually it's perpetually attached to my wrist. I would feel naked without it!
31. What do you think of when you think of Australia? New Zealand!! I want to go to New Zealand! And of course Australia too, but NZ has all the movie sets.. >.>;;
32. Would you consider plastic surgery? I would do it tomorrow if I could afford it! What's to consider???? Lipo please!! And something to make my dark circles go away. And lasic, does that count?
33. What is your birthstone? Peridot. :P I don't care so much for green, so I didn't really luck out there..
34. Do you go in at a fast food place or just hit thedrive thru? I would totally drive-thru if I was able to! They're usually really dirty and sometimes smell like pee inside, so I don't often sit down inside (I'm thinking of McDonalds and the like).. But sometimes I do with friends. It's nice because they're usually equipped with non-smoking sections, though it doesn't help much.
35. How many kids do you want? I don't know... maybe one or two girls is best? Or maybe a girl and a boy. I don't know what I'd do with more than 2 kids though, and it would be hard to raise a boy without a fatherly influence. Btw, I will never EVER birth kids. I just want to adopt one day when I'm old.
36. Do you have a dog? No, but I really miss having one!! I really want an Alaskan Malamute, but it's not something I can get until I move back to the states. No room for a big dog here!
37. Last person you talked to on the phone? I can't remember.. Maybe Melissa. I called her to tell her what floor of Kiddy Land I was on..
38. Have you met anyone famous? I dunno. Nobody really famous I guess, but some fairly well-known people in Japan are my friends or I've met. Maybe the most famous is (the asshole) Kimeru.. or (the sweet) Yanagisawa Nana-chan (who swears she's famous now) and (the sweet) Kamekari Kenta, who was in Tenimyu. I didn't recognize him though and he was like, "ToT I played guy with the hat, don't you remember me? ToT" LOL I think that he's doing well, because I hear about him appearing in dramas all the time, but I don't really keep up.. eh.. Maybe my friend Iwao Junko is more well-known? I really don't know. Gah too many people in show-biz that I know here, but I don't know which ones are famous and which ones are just kinda.. not! ^^;;
39. Any plans today? I talked about them earlier! ^^
40. How many states have you lived in? Three! Plus Japan.. (Washington, California, Arizona) It's all about the west coast, yo!!
41. Ever go to college? Of course, I graduated with a bachelor's degree almost 4 years ago! Wow.. That makes me really think about the excessive time that it's taken for me to reach my dream. I'm still not there..
42. Where are you right now? In my studio.. waiting for it to warm up before I get on with the day! Gotta get dressed and then start drawing!
43. Biggest annoyance in your life right now? People on the trains. SMOKERS. I am starting to go into a murderous rage inside every time that I see one. It's like, what in the hell gives you the right to rob ME of life?!! Fucking murderers. Oh, and cold weather makes me unhappy. Want the warmth NOW please! It's not fair that AZ and CA are warm now and we're not.. *cries* I've decided that when I'm rich I'm going to constantly move between warm places. Or just live in one permanently, like Hawaii. But it's really too far away from everything else!
44. Last song listened to? I have a Shawna Colvin CD on right now.. It's currently "Get out of this house". LOL It's way too cold outside that's for sure! I think that it's only in the 40s still. Geh.
45. What do you wash first in the shower? Umm, depends on the time. I don't wash my hair every day, but if it's one of the time sthat I do, my hair is always first! It takes the longest and you always have to wash your body after that anyways.
46. Are you allergic to anything? I have hay fever, I think that's all.
47. Favorite pair of shoes you wear all the time? I only have one pair of winter shoes that don't have holes! But I only wear them for that reason! I want lots more shoes, but there is no way to buy them in Japan! Sad sad sad.
48. Are you jealous of anyone? Super-rich people like Paris Hilton, who have money and opportunity without having to fight for it. Who can do what they want and squander it away on nothing. I wish that I had their fortunes! But I have to work for what I want. I can't wait until money doesn't matter anymore. Then see how she's going to end up! XDXDXDXDXDXDXD
49. Sweet foods or Salty? OMG both please!! Usually within moments of each other, or I start to feel a little queasy on occasion.
50. Is anyone jealous of you? I ... don't know?
51. What time is it? 9:26 AM. Oh crap!! I wasted way too much time on this! Gotta hurry...
52. Do any of your friends have children? Yes they do! They're not people that I see often, but sometimes it's strange to think about people my age or younger having kids. I'm not in that stage of life yet at all, and it's weird to see how people mature differently in that way.
53. Do you eat healthy? I am trying to eat healthy now! I manage it sometimes, but other times I find it really hard. I think mostly because the kitchen just cannot stay clean and I hate cooking in a place where I have no clean counter to work on at least. ;o; When I cook, I usually cook something fairly nutritious, because I love cooking! But sometimes I give in to the junk food taste! As long as it's in moderation, it's alright I think. ^^
54. What do you usually do during the day? Recently, WORK, Sleep, Draw when I have a spare second, email on the train. Not much more... I can't WAIT until this job is OVEROVEROVER!!!! *counting down the days seriously*
55. Do you hate anyone right now? *shrugs* Smokers. That's all. Go quit or die already! But please stop killing other people!! If you expose yourself to just 30 min a day of tobacco smoke, it raises your risk of heart disease by 70%!! You smokers on the street are literally murderers!! I don't know what I can do, but I just can't keep swallowing these feelings. It's making me really upset every day, compounding worse and worse and worse!
56. Do you use the word 'hello' daily? Usually ^^
57. Favorite time of the day? Early morning, when the sun is just coming up ^________________________^
58. How old will you be turning on your next birthday? 28.. way waaaaay too old!! ToT I really thought that I would have a career by now. But I guess now is as good a time as ever to start!
59. Have you ever been to Six Flags? Yeah! I love Magic Mountain!!! ^O^
60. How did you get one of your scars? There is one on my chest that I have no clue about. The other ones are on my hands and should NOT even be there. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the Japanese government to pay for their mistake! >.< It was definitely malpractice! Grrrrrrrrrr!

Wow, I ended up getting angry. But smokers make me angry, so.. ^^;; It made me think of a time when I went to dinner with a bunch of people who are involved in the entertainment industry recently. One of the guys was a big director (I don't know him though), and he was like, "is it okay if I smoke?" Obviously he didn't expect me to say no, and my friend was like, "you can't say no, he's the director." But he ended up having to go to another table because I will not have it at my table. Preferably not in my life and lungs, actually. >:( I don't care who you are. You have no right to steal my health.

http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/acs/tacs-7119.html <-- Here is a link with some places where there are English speaking doctors in Tokyo (and Japan) and a variety of different types of doctors.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 17th, 2008 02:48 am (UTC)
Thank you Sarah! ^__^ My problem is that I don't want to go to a doctor who was educated in Japan, because I have only heard bad things and my experiences were terrible (it's not the language barrier, it's the negligence that is so common). I see that one of the clinics is British though, so hopefully they will take the national health insurance or they're cheap! Cross your fingers for me! ^^

This is really interesting~ I stole this meme from you! XD

I agree 1000000000000% with you on smokers. My GOD, I hate them. If they want to die, they can die by themselves. I don't want that crap killing me as well. :[

That clothing place sounds like a cool place. Damn, I wish we had a place like that here. x_x
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 17th, 2008 02:51 am (UTC)
YES I do not want to die! Smoking around people is the same as premeditated murder, imo. And that is punishable by long prison sentences or in some cases the death penalty. In what country does a premeditated serial murderer not go to prison? Yet I see hundreds of them out walking on the street! I am really not sure how to fight them, though. Without getting more hurt myself! (And the law is in my favor in most circumstances since it is often illegal to smoke on the street, but I never see cops out looking for people doing it!)

How interesting! I love this sort of thing. You get to know a person really well trough some of this questions. And your answers nece cease to amuse me! (in a good way! XD)

And smokers...OMG! Yay for smoking beeing banned in every single public space here in Brazil. Our lungs say thanks to the authorities =D
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 17th, 2008 05:18 am (UTC)
Really??!! You just made Brazil jump up to my top three places to visit in the world. <3<3 I had no idea... and now I really want to go to Carnivale!! (I never really considered it before because I assumed there would be tons of people lighting it up) I'm suddenly so excited!

So you're OK with killing the environment with car exhaust because it suits you and not for people to smoke?

I understand what you mean about public transit, I hate when it's crowded, too. But it's better for the environment and I don't mind being uncomfortable for a few hours if it means less CO2 gets released into the atmosphere. Especially since trains are electric.

The day I will accept to have a car will be the day that they invent a car that is pollutant-free.

I guess we just have very different things we focus our dislikes on. I don't mind smokers (though I don't really care for the smell as it stinks), but I mind it a lot when people don't take care of my precious planet. Which is why I can be a bit of a bitch about recycling and things like that. XP (Next step, small boxes! Need to find somewhere to put them, though).

The kitchen is really discouraging. I try to clean it all of the time and it always comes back within a few hours. Argh! v_v;; It gets so messy, so fast.

There was a bunch of questions in there I must have skipped somehow. *sticks them to the post* There. 8D
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 17th, 2008 05:16 am (UTC)
We definitely have different things that are most important to us. Different people are different people, no problems with that!

It comes back so fast? Ah man, how in the world does that happen? I always clean up after myself and wipe the counters when I'm done using them, and the stove if I made a mess or the microwave, etc. Often I have to wipe the counters beforehand as well, which I really hate doing because it wasn't my mess to start with (which makes me upset every time). But it's always dirty when I want to use it. I would really like to see us all making sure to wipe down the counters and stove and appliances immediately after every time we use the kitchen. (Including the breadcrumbs that appear all over the counter near the toaster constantly.) I was hoping that when I wrote a note a long time ago about the counters that things would change but it hasn't at all. It makes me sad. If we were all more careful and used the sponges and only put dirty dishes in the sink (and maybe cleaned them every day if we can) then it would stay clean. I would certainly be willing to agree to some kind of agreement where if I haven't cleaned all of my stuff up within the same day (or sooner), people can bitch at me about it.

i HATE HATE HATE cigarette smoke, rude people, dirty places, and crowded trains, which is why I don't think I could ever live near the center of Tokyo. now i live in the suburbs of Kanagawa and it's not perfect, but every time i come back to my neighborhood from crowded, stinky Tokyo I breathe a sigh of relief.

while people still smoke inside some restaurants, there are many non-smoking restaurants to accommodate families with children. plus, i rarely see anyone smoking outside, the trains are not crowded, everything is clean, and the air is fresh! i am only 20 minutes from shinjuku by express train.

i know you really love tokyo, but if you find yourself getting really frustrated, you might want to take a break in the suburbs for a while!

(i'm going to have to move to tokyo in a few months for work and i'm not too happy about it...but if i can find an awesome house like yours i think i'd enjoy it)
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 17th, 2008 06:34 am (UTC)
Ah man, not seeing anyone smoking outside.... that would be SO nice!! It's banned all over my neighborhood, and there are even special smoking areas at the station that I go out of my way to avoid. The road is plastered with signs that state the ban too, but constantly, every single day, I smell smoke and see people smoking as they walk straight past those signs. It frustrates me to no end! There are even people who patrol with signs and a loudspeaker, but it seems to make no dent at all. I wanna run to the policemen and tell them to do their jobs so badly!! But the police here aren't very good and I think they would just laugh at me. It's kinda of sad, actually, to think that we're paying their salaries, but they're not making the people paying them feel safe. (Or rather, maybe they are if they're involved with the yakuza, which I wonder about)

I'm actually 15 minutes away from Shinjuku on the express train myself, so I'm technically not in Tokyo city proper, I'm only in the suburbs. I guess that I should have moved a lot farther out, but I had no idea that it would be as bad as it is! I rarely if ever saw people smoking when I walked around my neighborhood IN Shinjuku (where I lived for 2 years), but here which is much more rural, I see it all the time. ;_;

There are a few restaurants that have non-smoking sections in the city as well. But most places don't, or they don't really have any divide or filtration, and the person is smoking in the smoking section which just so happens to be right next to your table.... so it makes no difference. ;_; I recently heard that there are some measures being adopted in the city that prohibited smoking in taxis in certain areas, so it's a step in the right direction at least! I hope that the voters here start standing up for their health rights and enact at least a ban on smoking in any public places (both outdoor but especially indoor!). There is a bar that I've been wanting to go to forever, but never been able to because of the smoke that I'm sure exists!! :(

In llinois, they banned smoking in all public spaces and within ten feet[?] of the doorways. I'm hearing about how they're cracking down on all kinds of smoking issues in the States. I think the only things that lawmakers shouldn't touch is the right to smoke on your own property. That smacks of all kinds of privacy infringements, but other than that, it probably makes a lot more people comfortable to be in a non-smoking environment.

Anywho, this meme is awesome! I was really glad to see that there were actually questions under the cut. I don't think I could think up 60 things that people don't know about me. *laughs* I think I'm going to steal it, but I'll probably do it tomorrow since I've been working on my feet all night. @_@

Smokers make me angry, too.
It's sad that a lot of people in Japan smoke...
Wish there's a way to get rid of all cigarettes.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん): No Smokinghinoai on February 17th, 2008 06:37 am (UTC)
Yeah, same here! Really, I think that it's up to a person to poison their own bodies. It's their (stupid) right. But their right ends where it leaves their bodies, because they don't have the right to poison anyone else's. If smoking a cigarette didn't cause any smoke, then there wouldn't be any problems anymore because they're not affecting anyone else. I think that the tabacco companies are eventually going to have to figure that one out! (I can't believe that they're not already working on it-- they must be!)

Don't say that you're old, that makes me feel old as well!! XD

But I TOTALLY understand and agree to what you've said about those stupid fuck.... smokers!!!! I must be stupid to leave a country where smoking in bars, restaurants, trains, schools etc. is forbidden now!! I MUST BE STUPID!!!!!!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 20th, 2008 11:33 pm (UTC)
I know!!! In AZ and WA it's outlawed now, and yet why did I leave?!?!!! ToT Why can't countries like Japan that want to emulate the west actually do so????

Oh, the answer about guilt (not feeling guilty about chocolate) was good XD

and (the sweet) Kamekari Kenta, who was in Tenimyu. I didn't recognize him though and he was like, "ToT I played guy with the hat, don't you remember me? ToT" LOL I think that he's doing well, because I hear about him appearing in dramas all the time, but I don't really keep up..

Oh...Heh, the way you described it was so cute. He was in a number of shows but he sort of fell silent for about over half a year, for reasons unknown--a little news trickled through now and then, though, and it seemed terrible had happened to him. He's back now, though--just restarted his blog again yesterday (17th Feb) because it was his birthday.

Are you jealous of anyone? Super-rich people like Paris Hilton, who have money and opportunity without having to fight for it. Who can do what they want and squander it away on nothing

...It's a pity...

On smokers, I used to feel that way to. And any breath of cigarette smoke just made me feel so polluted D: I don't think about it now because perverts rank way higher. I really can't stand them D:
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 20th, 2008 11:40 pm (UTC)
LOL Thank you. ^^

Thanks for letting me know about Kenta. It's good to know that he's doing pretty well for himself! ^^ I hope that the fangirls don't give him such a hard time about being himself!

LOL for me smokers>perverts. Since perverts are easily stopped (not as likely to get violent either) and they don't actually kill you with their act, for me they're not even on the same level. ^^;

Hi, my name is Emily and I found your blog through MyYahoo. I really enjoy reading it! I live in Chicago but have always been obsessed with Japan. I'm so happy you moved there to pursue your dreams. I hope to travel there within the next few years, I'm studying Japanese little by little. Anyway, I put my myspace link at the top of this comment, friend me if you use myspace. =) Take care, best wishes in everything you do.

Hello Hazel! Thank you for your comments. ^__^

You're the second person in a row to comment on here from myspace. I get the feeling that my journal's url was posted on myspace somewhere! =D

I'm often asked about my camera, but the truth is that I use multiple cameras. The good ones are always belonging to friends of mine, and the rest, everyday photos, are taken with a normal compact fit-in-my-purse camera that I bought a few years ago. It's not the camera that will give you good results, I believe that any camera will give you good results if you know how to handle it properly. ^^
