Song of Ice and Fire book 3...
I'm a little over halfyway finished, and I feel like, "AAAAAAAAAH!!! NONONO you didn't just do that!!"

NONONONONONO!!! No you didn't just kill Robb and Caitlin and Arya!! Please tell me they're not dead!! Especially Robb!! NONO! *cries* Okay, please don't tell me, people who have read farther than me. Don't tell me what happens. But I read the part where they're massacred in the Frey's castle last night in bed and nearly threw the book across the room.

Why oh why does he always keep killing off/maiming/whatever the characters that I like the most? I started crying in the second book where they "murdered" Bran and Rickon. I was so happy it turned out to not be true, but oh man, why does the author like to put the sweetest character in bad spots?

I really want something nice to happen to the good characters for once! I was really looking forward to what might have been the first happy moment in more than 2 books: Arya returning to her mother! It would have been a breath of fresh air! Then they can go and kill off people, but at least give us that.... but no of course that's asking too much!

PS: Jaime has REALLY grown on me ever since they cut off his hand. Speaking of which, dude why can't they tell Cersei about it already, I want to hear her in pain for once! And then marry her off-- just torture her already! And if they're going to kill someone why can't it be Joffrey?

._. Poor Sansa too. Though I do want to see her and Tyrion get it on already >.> Whatever happened to lovely Shae?

I'm still crying for Robb in my heart. He was one of the best characters, the most pure, I think. It's even more painful than when his father died in the first book (whom was my favorite character at the time). ;_; Gah plz to stop torturing the Starks!!

EDIT: NO MORE JOFFREY YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! *sings and dances* Finally, it feels like there is justice in the world. =D Good riddance!! Now the only problem is that I can't scream inwardly, "why didn't you kill Joffrey instead?!?!!?????" every time that someone awesome dies. And yay Arya's not dead! I really thought that she was. I don't think Catelyn is dead either, though we'll see... but oh man, do I feel sorry for Jaime. And poor Sansa. And poor Tyrion when she ran off. And I will really miss Robb, but I guess that he's really gone now. Ned was my favorite character at the time that he was killed too.

But oh man, what a fitting end for that awful Joffrey. Gave the Red Wedding a run for it's money!

George R.R. Martin doesn't pull any punches... I love the Song of Ice and Fire books, but man, they are intense.

Yeah.. it's really rare that I read a book that makes me tear my hair out! It really endears me to the book, but at the same time makes me feel a kind of obsessive hate towards them as well. >.>;;

Jaime went from HATEJAIME to probably my favorite character between the first book and the third. I think he really grew up, and it probably says something about GRRM that he can make me like a character that threw an eight year old out a window. ^^

Why oh why does he always keep killing off/maiming/whatever the characters that I like the most?

Because he's a dirty bastard. Better get used to it. (When asked if there would be anyone alive by the seventh book, he said no, it would just be snow blowing across empty landscapes, haha :P)

And I hated that part of the book so much. Arya was RIGHT THERE. He's a big meaniehead.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 27th, 2008 12:41 am (UTC)
Yeah, I really hated Jamie!!! But as soon as he got his hand cut off, I started to like him. It seemed like that one act made him more human and real and fallible.. And of course, I am waiting in hope that him and Brienne get it on one day. :D;;

Gah, George Martin is such an ass. LOL But I guess that's how good authors are supposed to be!

Jaime/Brienne = ♥

Keep reading. OH keep reading. It's such a roller coaster!

I cannot decide if I want Sansa to get it on with Tyrion or the Hound though...

Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 27th, 2008 12:42 am (UTC)
LOL Sansa needs to get it on with someone!!!!!! ARGH! I do feel sorry for her though. But this is where we see if there's really more to her than just a cultured little maiden. I'd really like to see her rough it and grow up. =)

I have the fourth book on order. I hope that it comes in soon aaaargggghhhh!!

Did you know that he (the author) have his very own Livejournal, btw? 8D

Yes, Jaime grew on me too... I remember having him placed in my "I hate you" category during the first and second books, but as soon as I saw his name printed across the top of a chapter, I knew I would have to like him. ._. OH JAIME! (Now he's one of my favorites... it's so strange how that happens...)

;-; AHHHHHHHHHHH! My life feels so ... so empty without these books !! They took over everything for an entire month, and now I am left with nothing... I can't even bring myself to finish His Dark Materials... it's just not the same... so depressing...
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 27th, 2008 12:45 am (UTC)
LOL I stubbornly continued my hate of Jaime even after we first heard his point of view. But slowly and surely he grew on me, and I think that he's one of my favorite characters left! (though maybe that's because they only keep killing the characters that I like!)

LOL I can't believe that you read them all in a month! It takes me a month to read one, but I am really busy so I only get to read them on the trains and in bed at night and stuff.. >.>;; I'm not in a huge hurry to finish though, since I don't like waiting games. And without a good library here I'd have to wait for paperbacks to go on sale, and that would take so long.... I'm definitely happier taking it slowly and absorbing all of the info! ^^

(just read your edit)

that kid had no redemption. I'm glad we didn't have to read from him.

just here for a few days
hey Jamie, I found your blog and I wanna ask.

I want to immerse myself into manga for the 2 days I am here.

I am from Australia and would love to find and view some real manga locations .. if there is such a thing.

I went to Harajuku today to look at the young vampy goths and surreal dress sence but it was to cold or something.
tomorrow I want to go to the museum to see some really old kimonos cause there is such art in those that I can only be impressed.

can u advise me on any locations or areas I sould see. I am leaving on the 29th of jan. back to Australia.

any info would be fab.

Re: just here for a few days
Go to Ikebukuro, walk down towards Sunshine City (there should be many cinemas and a Tokyuu Hands store on that street), then pass an underpass (Toyota showcase on your right hand side, Libro Bookstore to your left), walk down the street till it meets another. If you walk left there is K-Books and Animate and some other store. If you walk right there is Mandarake, another K-Books and another K-Books.

Alternatively Akihabara for merchandise and games.

Re: just here for a few days
Hello Julian,

Hmmm, real manga locations..

First off, you need to go to Harajuku on a Sunday to get the best array of goth costumes.

Aside from that, I really recommend that you buy a travel guide and look around in there. There will be lots of suggestions on places to go, and as I don't know you, I can't say for sure the things that you will be interested in. Some not-misses though, if you like ancient architecture, are the Nihon Minka-en, and Edo period museum. Also make sure to check out Asakusa temple!

As far as anime goes, it depends on what you like. As some people already said, Ikebukuro Sunshins City is good, but really only for those that are interested in BL doujinshi. If you like the other, or just anime in general, then Electric Street in Akihabara and the surrounding area is a lot better. Also be sure to check out Center-gai in Shibuya (directly across from Hachiko square, between HMV and the pharmacy) during the afternoon to get a glimpse of colorfully-dressed people. ^^ Ahhh, and yoyogi park is a good one as well!

Yeah, it sometimes sucks that he's willing to kill off the good guys. But then again, it can get boring in series where the good guys never die.

I'm still waiting for book 5, and the scary thing is he already has titles for books 6 & 7.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 27th, 2008 02:49 am (UTC)
Yeah, though I do like when they keep us on our toes wondering if any of the good guys die, it really sucks when they all die. I kind of feel like the Starks have been through enough already.. the Lannisters are the ones that should be dying in droves!!

I'm glad there's going to be more books ^__^ I'm taking my time now though, since I don't want to have to wait as long as most everyone else has been. XD
Firsa Asahiasahifirsa on January 26th, 2008 12:44 pm (UTC)
I thought the true name of this series is "Torture the Starks"? Sometimes those dead end better off than those alive :)

Nah, I have no idea anymore, I've read the books ages ago and then waited for the next volume and then waited for the paperback and by then I was in serious need of a re-read. I'm waiting for him to finish the next book and then I'll hopefully be able to read it through without having to wait years for the end :)
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 27th, 2008 02:54 am (UTC)
Yeah, I feel so bad for them! Why make a certain family the main characters if you're going to kill them all off in the end?? ^^;;;
Chiakichiaki777 on January 27th, 2008 02:44 am (UTC)
Ah, you read it too! Yay! Though, yeah, that parts a bit tearful...
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 28th, 2008 09:51 pm (UTC)
Yeah, it was so sad. But I'm glad to see where it changed for the better later on!!
