Nakano makes me nostalgic...
I have to admit.. the weather makes me think of old things. Rainy and cold, it feels like times when I was living in Aberdeen (WA), or times when it would rain in the Tri-cities (rare!!) and sit in the house and stare out the windows, curled up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa and a magazine or book or sketchbook. It makes me think of my family. It's strange that I associate my family with rain, but maybe.. it's because outside of Japan, the only time that I've lived in rainy places, I was still living with my family (Mom, Dad, sister, brother, pets), and occasionally with extended family, especially my Grandma Gen. And there is a part of me that associates the rain with my sis Alsie. Ties greater than blood, there. ^-^

Ahhh, so nostalgic. Now the rainy scenery out the window has changed (from pine trees to japanese city streets), and the situation has changed (family to housemates), and the drink has changed (cocoa to tea.. sometimes). But the smell is the same. The chill in my hands and feet is the same. The color of the light is the same. The feel of the air is the same. If I shut my eyes, I could almost believe that I've travelled in time. Strange, huh... I'm not a big fan of the rain unless it's warm out and I can run in it, but I think that, in some ways, it will always be a part of me.

Well, yesterday I had plans but they were cancelled at the last minute. So I found myself alone and feeling like I needed to get out of the house. I can't really tap into my creative genes recently, so I just get out when I can. Fill life with experiences to cherish.. I walked in the pouring, cold rain to Animate to see if they had the Death Note figures that I wanted. They only had Misa, and even though they came out that day, L was already all claimed by people who'd reserved it. I wish that I'd known about the reservations, because I would have reserved it too. So I headed to Nakano down the road since I was out already, and I texted Eda along the way, who joined me. I felt so calm and serene. It was a really great feeling.... we browsed the anime shops looking for figures, but I didn't end up finding anything so I suggested going to Akihabara. Eda was game, so out we went, just a little farther down the line. ^-^ Now that I have a weekly job there, I have gotten a lot more familiar with the area and where to find things. Unfortunately, nowhere had L, to my sadness. But I'll still keep my eyes out and eventually get it. (*determined*) Until then, I guess Light has to handcuff himself to the happy Misamisa.

It ended up being a late, lazy afternoon. It was cold but really nice. Eda and I tried a new chou-cream cupcake (sorta) place in Nakano, and then getting sushi. There's nothing like cheap sushi for lunch. =^-^= The chilly weather makes me dream of soup, so tonight I'm going to try to make bean-with-bacon soup as long as I can find the ingredients. Wish me luck~~~ ^-^

Chou-Patti, the new cream puff place in Nakano. They were shaped more like cupcakes, though, which surprised me. I had a chocolate one and Eda a chestnut one, which were really good! Well mine certainly was, and she said hers was. ^^

Mistries decorated like little animals were sat next to the register. ^^

Nakano's side streets near the station. I felt as if it really looked like older Japan there.. it was so moody and felt really nice to walk in it, despite the cold. ^^

Nessie likes to curl up against my side while I'm sitting on my bed. She's so cute. ^^

Funniest Captain Jack figure I've ever seen. It's so cute!! And yet, kind of scary..

My new Misa is chilling out with Light. Light pretends to enjoy it.. or does he maybe enjoy it just the tiniest bit...?

I've been eyeing this $30 deluxe Ringo figure for a while, so when Eda found it for half price, I had to but it! ^o^

PS: It's still really cold and rainy today. But I'm cuddled up warm inside with blankets. I *do* like that feeling.. And there is nothing like taking a bath with the window open, when it's so chilly. Nothing.. ^-^

I like Nakano. It is lots of fun poking around all the shops there. I just wish I knew where to eat in or around that Nakano Broadway building. I had okonomiyaki there at one of the shops. It wasn't too bad...but when you're only there for a day or two, you don't get a lot of chances to explore.

It does seem like there are a lot of bars and such in the little side streets surrounding Broadway...

Re: Nakano
It's really a nice, out-of-the-way place, isn't it? Nakano is kind of quaint and homely, but still fairly busy. It's a really nice medium, and I just perfect for a rainy day! ^^

This is the first time I think I've actually eaten there, aside from the McDonald's on the other side of the station. Usually I just run in and out, but it turns out that there are actually a ton of places to eat in there! I definitely want to go and check them out sometime. ^^

Ne, Hi-chan~ could I get your e-mail address? :D I finally have plenty of funds to do a Japanese shinies / American foods exchange as we'd talked about in the past. I'd love to talk to you about it!

Either that or you can e-mail me at sosiqui at gmail dot com. ^^

You miss your family! But I agree that rain and cold brings forth nostalgia. It reminds me of Tokyo, but I think I've said this 143 times already.

Your toys look like fun to play with!

You mean the one in the Air Gear series 2 set? I wouldn't recommend it, because it's really really bad quality. If they release a nice version, then I'd say go for it, but I doubt it.

Have you been in Nakano Broadway? It's a huge store with lots of thrift store type places inside. They have lots of dolls and anime figures. I'm actually going to blog about our trip there. ^_^
