Domestic bliss..?
I got an oven!! Yayayayayay!! *celebrates*

So, yesterday I randomly found an oven for 1995 yen (less than $20) at Don Quixote! It's a tiny thing, only a little bit bigger than my toaster oven, but it's definitely the best thing that I've ever bought in Japan! I'm sooooo excited!! ^o^ Ami made fish and potatoes, and I made raspberry cobbler last night. OMG cobbler.. *drools* I've almost finished off the leftovers already today. ^^;; I've already started planning the ton of other things that I want to make! Just wait for the cakes and cookies, yay!! ♥

Ahhhh, an oven makes me so happy. ^_^ I also went out looking for a desk to draw on and ended up getting this tiny little thing for 800 yen. It's not very big or very great, but it's good for drawing on for the time being. ^^ Now it's time to work on drawings, finally!! It feels like the summer vacation that I never had, lol, these last two weeks of summer vacation. I wonder if I can finish, I think that I really can do it!! ^o^

Although... it is a little bit lonely not having so many friends around or really going out with them. I only see the roommates recently, and they're great people but.. it's not the same. I miss my friends! I just need to throw myself into my manga and illustration, eh? I also think that I might want to write my memoirs, just for fun. =^-^= To see if I can write down all that I remember about my childhood ~ ☆

Yay oven! =D

It's amazing how you miss something so basic, ya know? I just moved into a new place that's really great, but there's no dishwasher (or garbage disposal boo)! It's not like I have a lot of dishes, but I miss just turning a knob and having clean dishes >.>

Oh maaaan, I know. Japanese apartments come with absolutely nothing, (not even a stove or fridge!). And of course there's no such thing as dishwashers or garbage disposals either. Well, they exist but they're rare. I've never actually seen an American-style dishwasher here before. Oh man I really miss that! ;_;

Ooh, your cobbler looks yummy...what recipe do you use? The one I have is all right but it's not really what I think of when I picture cobbler so I'm looking for a new one.

Oooh. I'll have to try that. Someone brought in raspberries to my team meeting at work yesterday, they were good just plain too. I also like cut up fruit on vanilla ice cream, lazy, AND yummy.

That's an amazing deal on the little oven. I paid about that much for a TOASTER. :) Now you can have all manner of nice fluffy and CRISPY things, isn't it great?

My own kitchen here in IL is old, there's no dishwasher or garbage disposal (I use a corner metal box with holes in it from Japan just like always, and toss it in the compost) but... it did come with an oven when I bought the place (pretty standard in my neighborhood).

It broke though, being from the 60's, and after fixing it once, I got the fun of buying a new one, so I've got a giant black GE stove, it's great. Modern ones have a flame element in the top of the oven box too, so you can broil things without squatting 5 inches off of the floor, definitely an improvement.

Wow, that looks delicious.
We have a cute little oven like that but we use it for baking Fimo beads and cooking food in it now would potentially be lethal.
I tried writing down my childhood memories, but it was boring ; P

I wish I could get raspberries here :(

I would have died if my apartment hadn't come with the crappy oven it has. In fact, I'm going to make roasted chicken tonight :D
