Can't see the street for the rain~~%@
It's pouuuuuuring! Also thundering and lightninging, if that makes sense. In any case, it's a heavy thunderstorm just on the cusp of night, and I LOVE it! I love thunderstorms. There's nothing to get your heart racing, blood pumping, like a run through a rainy street with lightning striking all around you. That's definitely one of the things that I miss about Arizona-- the amazing storms (granted, they're only really once a year, but they're unlike anything I've ever seen before). There are few things that fascinate me as much as mother nature at her strongest. =^__^=

So yeah, I'm soaked and covered in a towel from my romp through the rain. It's amazing and wonderful. The smell of the rain is wonderful, the wetness is wonderful, the sound of the thunder is wonderful. I couldn't be happier unless I was snuggled up in a cozy cabin in the wilderness watching the same thing outside with someone special (of course, after taking a long run in it together). *lets imagination wander...*

So, yesterday I did something that seemed rather daunting at the time, and went to get new glasses&contacts!! I haven't had any new glasses in years, so the prescription was really old and everything was blurry (though I only wore them at night when I didn't have my contacts in..), and I ran out of new contacts. It was surprisingly easy! And of course, the best thing about Japan is that the exams are free!! I just chose the glasses that I wanted and they did the standard eye tests on me (with only a little bit of misunderstanding on my part), and an hour later-- glasses! \^o^/ With contacts, I went next door and within 30 minutes was examined and had my new contacts! They're comfy and I can see oh-so-well. I love being able to see. =^____^= It even makes me rethink (for only a moment) getting that corrective eye surgery someday. ♥

Rather glad it didn't rain like that when I was there though. .^^;

Best part is curling up in bed under a thick blanket with a hot drink, and just listening to the rain outside <3

Oooh. Contacts. xD I've always wanted to try wearing those. Trouble is, you always have to remember to remove them before you go to sleep. Or else...

OMG I know.. I love curling up (I prefer the couch to a bed as a bed feels like I haven't gotten ready for the day) and watching the rain. Or better, reading and listening to the rain together. It's so calming. ^^

With dim lights and all that wonderful ambiance~

I'm imagining it right now. *__* Ahahaha!

Oh dude, you just reminded me I need to buy some new glasses before my prescription expires. Did you go to one of the eyeglass chains? Which one did you go to? How much did you pay for glasses (frames and lenses)? I'm just wondering how much I'll need to save up to get me a new pair.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on August 28th, 2007 03:17 pm (UTC)
For my glasses, I paid 14,000, at a chain store called "Hatch" in Kichijoji. The frame was about 7000 and then because my eyes were so bad (my prescription is really strong) it cost 7000 for the lenses. But prescriptions of less strength cost a lot less. ^^

I originally went to another of the big chain stores, but they were a lot more expensive for the frames, so I ended up at Hatch and I really liked their deals. ^^ Plus the doctors were so friendly!

I love storms too! Well, except when they cut off my electricity and power like one did a few days back...*sigh* Storms are greatly refreshing and really cools the temperatures down ^_^

Sometimes, the pictures you use as part of your post are so amazing, that I just have to sit here in my chair and stare at it for a long time! I feel that way with this particular picture, it's so pretty.

I also like it when it rains, but when it t-storms, then I'll just sit inside. It rains too much in Washington, you know XDDD

Cool, exams are free in Japan! I didn't know that, and you got glasses and contacts so quickly! That's awesome compared to America *grumbles*

Awww, thank you ^__^

Yeah, the japanese eyecare system is definitely better than the American one!

Good to know it's raining back in Japan. I suppose it's getting a lot cooler. Or I hope. XD

And for glasses, thought ZOFF was fun. (^^)b
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on August 28th, 2007 11:54 pm (UTC)
Nope, it's still the same temperature, except when it's raining at night. ^^;; And actually it's probably still the same, just that it's so windy that when you're wet it feels really cold.

Eye exams are free?!? I've been wanting to get either new glasses or contacts while here, but didn't bring my prescription with me and have no idea what I'd need (let alone how much my eyes have changed since the last time I had them checked). This is covered by the national health insurance, then? And I can just go anywhere that sells glasses and have my eyes check there? Oh, if this is true I'm so going out next week for glasses... *eyes gleam*

I was also looking into corrective eye surgery, and thought about getting it done here, but I think it'll be cheaper if I wait and do it when I go back to Canada. But if you're interested, the place I thought about going was here:

The doctors apparently speak English and if for whatever reason you don't get really good vision after the first operation, you can go in a second time, free.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on August 29th, 2007 04:06 am (UTC)
You don't need any insurance at all (I don't have any), just go to one of the eyeglass places (they're all over) and pick out a frame. They'll take your old glasses and test them to find out the old prescription and start from there. ^^ The exam is free~ ^^

Wow, the lasik there is so expensive!! I think I'll wait for America too. 3 years ago in Arizona and in Washington they were advertising it for about $500 per eye. The place that you linked to is more than double that! x.x Wow, so expensive. I was expecting to pay around $1000 max total when I have mine done one day.
