Happy Birthday Miyu!
For some reason, this picture says "happy birthday!!" to me! =D; I really like how it turned out, even if it's blurry.. maybe because it's blurry. <3

Yesterday, I went with A and M to karaoke. It turns out that our usual location when we're in Shibuya has really gotten bad. They've gotten really strict (they confiscated our drinks upon arrival) and they changed their free-time karaoke for summer, so that it's limited to three hours. ;_; I wanted my 6 hours (which would have been the same price usually). So, never going to go there again if I can help it! It's too bad too, because that's the place where there was randomly a DDR machine in our room two summers ago that timed itself to whatever songs were being sung. It was so cool!! In any case, they put in more Air Gear musical songs, and I tried a bunch of songs that I'd never tried before. It's so much fun to sing new things!! My voice definitely matches guy's music more than girl's, at least as far as Japan artists go.

After that, it was on to Miyu's birthday party! It's good that she comes here every summer, because then we can all celebrate it together!! ^^ I met a few lj-friends that I haven't met before (I forgot just who though... refresh me?), and we had a great dinner at the Outback! I love the Outback, they have much better food than TGI Friday's and they're about the same price. Though no apple cobbler = lose. But free yummy!bread = win? And of course the flavored lemonade, delicious!! Even though I'm watching my money so I didn't have any this time..

I guess that some of Minda rubbed off on me. I don't think I ever would have liked this song before but it's stuck in my head now.. Gah, so many emails and phone calls to catch up on (Sorry Hikaru for missing you!). But I have to get ready and run out the door now..!!

I think that is because japanese boys' voice are in the western girls' tone and japanese grils' voice are in a supernatural and hyper high level of tone.

Yes definitely!!! ^o^
Are you interested in going to the Vampire or Alice cafe at all? I really want to go! Of course, there's tons of other things that we can do too. ^^

It's in Ginza. Is that too far for you? Here is their webpage:

LOL I actually don't like Tsuchiya Anna at all. Some of her songs I've thought were catchy though. ^^

For some odd reason, I like TGIF. It is so yummy. I don't like outback that much. Hahaha. ♥

TGIF has good desserts. But their menu is so small, there's very little selection on it for someone who doesn't like pasta. ;_;

Thank you
Hi Jamie. I don't know how, but I came across your lj somehow today. Well, not true ... I can hazard a guess how. I was probably googling "living in Japan" or something. ^_^

So, I wanted to thank you for your lj! I went all the way back to Summer of '04 and found myself reading your whole saga of moving to Japan -- your first days and weeks there, first venturing out onto the trains, buying that Prince of Tennis Winter Musical ticket...

I'm coming to Japan in the first two weeks of October as kind of a scouting trip. I know I want to move there -- I only wish I had done so sooner. But I'm also totally scared about landing by my lonesome and braving the trains from Narita with my limited Japanese! I'm getting a ticket to Matsuura Aya's concert when they go onsale 9/9 and am equally self-conscious picturing myself as the only gaijin (tall, blond!) in a theater-full of Japanese fans. O_o

BUT... your lj has really helped me realize that it is all navigable with perseverance. [Already picturing myself wandering through Shibuya trying to match Kanji with signs overhead.]

Anyway, at least for a while your lj has won a spot on my Bookmarks Bar! XD And like seriously major kudos for keeping this thing going for 3 years! I get more an more encouraged about living there by the day.

Re: Thank you
Hi Austin, and welcome to livejournal! ^_^ I hope that you make your dream come true.. follow your heart and see where it leads, that's the best way in my eyes. ^^

Don't be self-conscious. I'm 99% sure that you won't be the only obvious gaijin at any of Matsuura's concerts. ^^

ありがと ヒーちゃん。

I was looking at pictures of your flat (awesome place!) and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me how much the rent is and how much the key money was?

Re: Thank you
Where I live is really expensive. My part is the same as in Shinjuku, about $600 a month, and that's split between three people. The down payment (key money plus all other fees) was about $7,000.
