At World's End ^oO
I was completely blown away with Pirates of the Caribbean 3 *sputters*. Mere words cannot possibly even begin to express my love for this movie (series). I love the ride in Disneyland too. And I love pirates. To make a long story short, I was really impressed with, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

I've always loved the first movie, and liked (but not loved) the second. The second one seemed a little bit like a random romp through whatever, without a lot of really good plot development. But the third makes up for that completely. I can't believe how much has changed, and I'm really, really satisfied with the way that things came out. Bittersweet, awesome, and with an air of comedy and drama mixed together really well. Captain Jack full circle? Love. <3

The movie itself was great and with such great supporting cast performances, I'm blown away. Story-wise too it had what the second movie lacked, and I'm not entirely sure if this isn't actually my favorite of the three. It might be a tie between the first one and this one. I'm really glad that Tia Dalma (witchdoctor chick, so to speak..) got so much screen time this time around! Her+Captain Jack=OTP. She was always a really neat character and this time around she got even more exciting. This fall, I'm definitely going to be a pirate for Halloween.

I really hope that this isn't the end. I don't know how they'll make another one unless they cut out Elizabeth/etc.. But I'm okay with that! It's all about Captain Jack, seriously, and I'd love to see the other characters get more time, and I want to continue on where it.. ended. :D I really, really hope HE finds what he's now looking for. I also think that a Capt Jack/Will continuation story would be really great if it's kept dramatic enough. Wow, about what happened to Will. Wow, just wow.

Discuss?? I want to talk about this movie with those of you whom have seen it!

I love Pirates.. Never mind my messy hair and frumpy clothes. I ran from work1 to work2 to the movie, so this was at the end of a 16 hour day..

I love Pirates 2... There were no big posters inside. ;_;

Pendant I recieved in the mail the other day. Isn't it GORGEOUS?? ♥ I love the sea~

On the way home, this guy kept putting his cell phone into his CROTCH. That is, until it buzzed and he took it out. LOL I think he knows what it's about! <3

*skipes post, fearing possible spoilers*
Oooh, I'm so jealous~ I was going to watch it today, but my father went out of the city for work and therefore we couldn't go (we always go in family~ ♪).
On the other hand, it sounds like it was made of pure win, so now I'm even eager to watch it *wakuwakusuru~*

Don't worry, there are no spoilers, just vague references about it and general feelings and my wish of a sequel. ^__^ But there will definitely be spoilers in the comments!

Yeah, I was completely surprised about Will!!!! That might have been what turned the movie from great into completely amazing, that plot twist!!! I really, really loved that! How amazing!! <3<3 I'm so glad that they did that, and I hope that they make more movies following up on that, I really do!!

I saw rumors on the net about a 4th possibly being made, so I hope that it comes to fruition! There's definitely room!! (Though they can't change Will much because of the part after the credits..)

Oh man, don't wait for the second movie, because this one is really, really good!!! I recommend catching it in a theater NOW! (But then, I'm completely blown away by it. If I had the money, I would go and see it again immediately)

It was pretty good, but it totally didn't match my predictions on how the story ended. I was expecting it to end with something like Will and Elizabeth's wedding at Port Royal. But as for the wedding that did take place, the choreography for that little bit looked a lot more like dancing, lol. The plot was good, but I'm really sad about the deaths that occurred in this movie. I guess that their deaths allowed for a particular character to go on with his or her life as he or she did in the end, but one was always kind of amusing to watch and the other had finally grew on me before his or her death.

Tried to keep this as spoiler free as possible!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on May 26th, 2007 03:11 am (UTC)
You can spoiler away since it's in the comments and it's obvious that people will be talking about spoilers in the comments! ^^ I can't remember who else died... Elizabeth's dad (I LOVED that scene, it was amazing), and Davy Jones.. Anyone else?

I really loved the ending. It was completely unpredictable, and bittersweet but still happy in a way. ^__^ Rather than a predictable wedding (okay the wedding during the fight was kind of lame..) something different was really refreshing. ^__^

I think 'At World's End' is definitely my favorite of the three. Yes, it's not the light, more humorous first movie, but it's so much more intense. I really liked what they did with Tia Dalma's part. It was good to see another strong female character in the mostly male pirate world.

Will at the end made me happy. Not what happened to him, per se, but how he eventually ended up.

I think the way they left it, there could be more, but I agree that it would have to be very Jack & Will centered to work. I hope they go on with it. Jack's next adventure sounds fun.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on May 26th, 2007 03:13 am (UTC)
YES! And wow is Tia HOT. I would really like to see more of her as Calypso in future movies. And I agree, I was happy for Will too. It seems like he really was happy with his fate, more so than he would have been losing his father and going to live with Elizabeth.

Yeah, I hope so too!! I heard that Keira doesn't want to play again in a sequel, so it's very possible that they could pick up Jack's quest to become immortal, and it would be really interesting!

I loved it, the movie made me laugh Jack is soo funny. My friend is a HUGE Jack fan and when she saw the picture *but we saw a HUGE Jack poster* she wanted to take it home. I like Will and I was like aww I want a poster like that too.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on May 26th, 2007 05:33 am (UTC)
I'm sure that they sell the big posters over there. ^__^ They sell them here in Japan and it's not even where the movie came from!

I agree with everything you just said! I ADORED the first movie. I saw it three times at the cinema, bought the soundtrack and had the main theme for my ringtone for two years ;) But the second movie largely disappointed me - it was far too comic and not piratey enough for me.

But wow, I was so surprised by At World's End. I was not suspecting much at all and I really loved it (much more dark and adventurous).

The start was great - really chilling with all the hangings, and you gotta love the singing.

And I kinda saw Will 'dying' like that - there were so many references to his heart throughout the movie - but I still screamed a little when he got stabbed. And OMG the look on Jack's face! Are there really any moments throughout the films where you think you see Jack's real emotions. He always puts on such a front, but when he sees Will get stabbed his face is just ... wow... you can tell that he was genuinely shocked. And when he said his last goodbye to Elizabeth, there was a real caring look on his face.

Man, I really want to see this film again.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on May 26th, 2007 05:35 am (UTC)
Me too!!! I was really amazed by the scene where Will is stabbed especially. I loved all of the references that Jack made of Living forever vs Living with yourself. It was really poignant and shows that he really is a good man deep down inside. I love that about him. <3 Jack is quite the optomist! I would LOVE to see more about that in a future movie-- Jack's emotions.

I wanna go see it again tooooooooo. If I had the money I definitely would.
Vickytoldtojoinlj on May 26th, 2007 04:48 am (UTC)
Saw it at Midnight last night as I figured we would.
I absolutely loved the graphics of the water and explosions, and I also loved how diverse the cast of pirates was. *yay diversity!* Yes, this was better than the second one. :3
What really made it better, for me, was being around other people who laugh and crack jokes - great atmosphere for me and the girls.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on May 26th, 2007 05:36 am (UTC)
LOL in Japan I think a lot of people have trouble understanding the jokes, because I would sometimes find myself laughing and be the only one in the entire theater. ^^;; But it works the other way, I don't get japanese humor most of the time either. ^^;;;

Oh man though, the special effects were really great, weren't they!!! <3

Saw the movie, loved it, seeing it again tonight with family.

Did you stick around for the credits? There is an extra scene at the end just like in the first 2 movies ^^
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on May 26th, 2007 05:38 am (UTC)
Yep!!! Actually in Japan they don't turn on the lights until the end of the credits anyways, so there's no way to get out (it's too dark!). It was a really touching scene, though by showing it I feel that they already say a lot by saying that they're all alright at the end of those 10 years, you know? Interesting that even after 10 years Elizabeth didn't look a day older. ^^;;

Oooo. I saw pirates today. ^^ I liked it. I liked the fact that it was a bit darker than the other two, but it still had a few lines.

I personally don't like the Will-Elizabeth stuff and I think that they did overkill with it in the movie, but *shrug* it could have been worse.

I must say that the beginning of the movie for me was a bit overshadowed by the fact that "The Golden Compass" trailer played, and it looks like (even if it sucks as a book adaptation) the movie will (still) be Shiny in regards to graphics and techy-stuff.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on May 26th, 2007 05:40 am (UTC)
I'm not a big fan of Will-Elizabeth either, though I do think that it's important to the movie's story. Just not all that exciting, lol. I still wanted her to kiss Jack again! There is some major chemistry going on there!

LOL the only thing I know about the Golden Compass is the meme that went around. I'd guess Japan won't be getting it any time soon after it comes out. ^^;;

I haven't seen pirates 3, but since I know the ending, I'm not too sure I'll like it.

Anyhoo, Hi. Lawl. You don't know me and I don't know you, but I kinda just stumbled across your LJ somehow O.o And I just wanted to say good luck on becoming a Mangaka.

I live in Japan as well, and I'm also studying and learning hard to make my debut here in Japan as a mangaka. Let's both do our best! Maybe we'll cross paths ^^
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on May 26th, 2007 09:55 am (UTC)
But the ending was completely and totally amazing! I was really surprised, and honestly, I think that it was a good way to turn. Not predictable at all, and that's the best. <3

Good luck on becoming a mangaka too!! You're really lucky to be able to live here and study instead of have to have a fulltime job. I wish that I could do that!! ;O;

Just got back in from the movies, went out with my family, ironically they wanted to see PotC3 (as I mentioned in my earlier comment), however, it seems they didn't like the movie T_T According to them, there was "too much fighting and not enough plotline"

Oh well, I personally enjoyed it, even if it WAS my 2nd time seeing it =p
