Why hikari-fiber internet is the BEST

I love this service. It's so much better than my DSL ever was and for the same price. These speeds are normal, too plus it's more stable than my DSL ever was. <3<3<3

なんじゃこりゃー? that's insane fast!

p.s.--just bought my shinkansen tickets--I'm planning to get to Tokyo-eki around 2:30 on wednesday, depending on how full the seats are in non-reserved. Is that okay, or should I try for earlier/later?

That's fine ^__^ Come whenever you'd like!
forestspritered_rapture on April 30th, 2007 02:10 pm (UTC)
How exactly do you get this service, and how much is it? I'm still really new in Tokyo; a friend of mine is getting internet installed in her room sometime next week (I think DSL) and it'll be $40 a month once it's hooked up (although I hear this is a normal price for the area).

Just ask for it with your NTT DSL provider. It may not be offered in her area yet, though.

OH WOW. o_o

I can only dream of those speeds. Ain't ever gonna happen here. T_T
xiyuxiyu on April 30th, 2007 03:03 pm (UTC)
o.O That is AMAZING. The fastest I've EVER got here was like, 200kbps, which is TEN TIMES SLOWER!

Yeah, that's to be expected since them and Korea and HUGE Internet users.

Actually last week one of Japan's technology teams that's working on the 'Internet2' project broke the record of reaching 9.08 GigaBytes per second within a 10,000 mile radius or something to that nature. I forsee Japan implementing those numbers in the next 10 years from now. I can't wait!

What?! 408 kb/s?!!!!
The max i can download is 15 kb/s. I hate wireless internet (>_>)
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on April 30th, 2007 09:52 pm (UTC)
Nono, that's upload speed! I'm downloading at over 2,000 kbs. =)

uh. wow. >_>
that's too crazy, really. o.o
ah japann...when will the rest of the world catch up...
Mewgokumew2 on April 30th, 2007 05:08 pm (UTC)
Oh how I long for those hikari fiber speeds at Japanese prices in the U.S. You'd probably be paying like $100/mo for speeds like that over here!
Patricktallanvor on April 30th, 2007 06:12 pm (UTC)
I want that service! How much do you pay for it?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on April 30th, 2007 09:54 pm (UTC)
It's the same price as my DSL was, about 4,000 yen a month.
Fiammattafusakugyoku on April 30th, 2007 10:24 pm (UTC)
FRICK. I'm ecstatic when I get like 10 kB/s.

OH JAPANNNNNN.
waremonowaremono on April 30th, 2007 11:16 pm (UTC)
I want to cry now. Living as I do in what is probably the most backwards county in America, I've almost resigned myself to being unable to download anything. But looking at that, and thinking of my average 4.5 kB/s download speed...

I cannot wait until I am in Japan!
Chiakichiaki777 on May 1st, 2007 05:03 am (UTC)
Not fair, I get nothing, because the school servers are too abused. XD

I'm sure that they have it overseas though, too.... The reason that it's so fast for me is that I'm probably one of the very very few people in my building that has it, so I don't really have to share the connection with anyone. I think it might be the same as fiber-optic internet?
r e i: pokazahaya_undeadmikorei_desu on May 1st, 2007 04:14 pm (UTC)
Oh. My. God. That's hella fast!

*looks at max download speed of 20kb/s and cries*

OMG....

*sighes mournfully* Sometimes I wish Australia's speed was that good.
