Last night, I felt like doing calligraphy with a little personal spin on it. I chose yellow as the second color (it's poster paint, while the bottom layer is artist's ink) since I don't have any calligraphy ink) because yellow is bright and lively-- just how I love to live! ^^

"命" (inochi) means "life", and it was the kanji chosen to represent 2006. It's one of my favorites.. maybe because it's easy? But moreso because it's beautiful, just like life itself. I also like that it's part of 'unmei' (destiny, fate), which is another of my favorites.

I'm going to go buy some fruit after I take a shower, and then spend the rest of the day drawing, I think.. I have so much to catch up on, so much to do that I haven't done this week! Suddenly my lazy week last week turned into this one, where I have something to do almost every day! :O

Wow, that's soo pretty. I did not know that they choose characters to represent years in Japan. that's neat. I love the affect with the yellow and black.

Good luck finding free time during your free time :) It can be harder than it seems sometimes.

I think the gold over black looks really good, gives sumi-e a new feel!

wrong link?
Hi Sweetie,
It's Mom. I love your postings and drawings and calligraphy. You are sooo talented!! Your link that says 'in my room in the sunlight', links to google map. I don't think it's supposed to do that. Love ya lots!

Re: wrong link?
Oh yeah-- it's actually an automatic thing by the livejournal site. Theoretically you're supposed to put in where you are, and they link it automatically for you. But it's pretty hard to map that, lol.

I've been reading Gaijinsmash.net and I have to ask - are Japanese school kids really that bad?!?

Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on March 29th, 2007 03:58 pm (UTC)
LOL Well, they're just like kids in any country-- there are good ones and bad ones. ^^
