Flower chair~~~~☆★
Yesterday, we had what's definitely the best weather that we've had so far this year! ^__^ I didn't even need a heavy coat until later in the day. I have to admit that I'm pretty jealous of places like Chicago, that seem to have the warm weather that I want. Isn't it supposed to be much colder in Chicago? *cries* But at least it's definitely warming up! Today was pretty warm this morning, though it's getting a little bit chilly now that the sky has clouded over. I think that rain might be heading our way (it only rains on the weekend).

So anyways, yesterday I walked down to Shinjuku to get some fabric and supplies that I have been meaning to get for a while! I picked up some things to make myself a light jacket (my first time making one, wish me luck!! I'm trying to make a zip-up striped hoodie-type thing). I also picked up some other fabrics that were on clearance just because. I don't know what to do with them yet, but I have a ton of ideas! ^^ I re-covered my little computer stool and added some extra padding so that it's more comfortable (it really is!). I like it a lot!! The way that it was before was red, but it was stained because a lot of the time I'm sitting on my bed or on the floor and I set mugs of tea or hot cocoa on it and it spills..... so from now on I'll have to be more careful! But I really, really like it!! I haev a lot of fabric left over too, so I'm going to try and make a skirt or shirt out of it. What do you think? Which would be better? Yaaaay for cheap fabric! I might have to go and get some more, because it was 50% off for this particular one. (I only got 1 meter)

Today, I tried to get tickets to yet another hopelessly sold-out-in-3-seconds show. In this case, the first D-Boys stage. I thought that it would be fun to see Yanagi on stage again since it's been a long time, but I guess that I won't get to go. -_-;; It seems that almost everything that I want is sold out within seconds with no possible chance of getting tickets nowadays. But I felt a little better when I was leaving and got a message from a friend that he could get me tickets to his sold-out play next week. So, feeling much better, and looking forward to seeing all of the people that I met a few weeks ago again! =^_^=

I used to have a pillow made of the same fabric! Small world.

A skirt would be easier, but I think it'll work a lot nicer as a shirt. :)

Ohh, this is a bit random but I was wondering if I could gank your Miki icon. I've fallen in love with it and Marmalade Boy :D I promise to credit of course.

LOL go ahead. ^__^ I just love her new artwork!!

I think I might try and make a button-up shirt with it.. Though it sounds so hard!! :O Maybe a tank-top would be easier, hmm.... Maybe some lace would help! It's such pretty fabric, and I love those types of flowers! ^^

Beautiful fabric ♥

I kinda think, making a shirt with that fabric, it'd a little overwhelming by itself. If you put it together with something(...I'm not quite sure what) though, that'd be one awesome shirt. It'd look really neat as a skirt as well.

Either way, it'll look cute (like the chair!! x3)

Oh hey maybe you can help me. I have this chair that is stained and really gross looking. I tried using stain remover on it and it just made it WORSE.

Anyway, I want to make some sort of cover for it, but have no idea how to go about doing that. It's one of those pretty standard floor chairs they sell everywhere that can (sort of) recline back. Would I need a sewing machine to make something like that?

Also, I will be in Tokyo next month for a couple hours. It's a Sunday, I think the third Sunday in April? Anyway, we should try to grab lunch or something ^__^ My friend Mariko and I are also talking about going up to Tokyo for a couple days during Golden Week. Will you be in town then?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on March 24th, 2007 10:55 pm (UTC)
You wouldn't really need a sewing machine, you could definitely do it by hand if you really wanted to. But the types of chairs like that-- if you can see seams in the fabric now, then you'd need to be able to sew it somehow, even if just by hand. ^^ For most chairs, look for bolts or screws on the bottom and if you undo those, it will let go of the padded part so that you can take it away separately and re-upholster it. (I hope that makes sense). ^^

Sounds fun!! I should be in Tokyo both times and not working, so definitely let me know the exact times when you know! ^^ I've been meaning to plan a short vacation but as I have no money, I'll probably just be lazing about the city still. ^^;;;

Sold out in less than a minute?! O.O Realistically that shouldn't be possible unless there's some online or fan club deal that allows most people to get the tickets beforehand like for the musical "Wicked".

That's a pretty nice seat cover. I'm not sure whether it's because of the quality of the picture, but I find it to be out there.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on March 24th, 2007 11:01 pm (UTC)
Oh trust me, it's definitely possible. Tenimyu, which is in a much bigger place for a much longer time sold out in 3 minutes this time, and before that 5 minutes for the show that's a week long. Other ones have sold out in less than a minute. What happens is that people all over the country try at the exact moment they go on sale and 99% of the time you can't even get through at all, it's so clogged. So typical ticket sale day goes for me:
10:00 - choose show day and time (the screen only opens at 10) and search
10:01 - machine searches and suddenly says "too many people are trying so please try again in a moment" I search immediately again.
10:02 - Still busy screen.
10:03 - This time the screen says "sold out". I haven't even gotten through to the 'buy tickets' screen. It's just busy busy busy sold out. -_- But at this point I hit the button to search for any open ticket for any show anywhere.
10:04 - Screen says "entire venue is sold out." Not even a 'sorry.'
10:15 - I'm still trying in vain even though it says "sold out" every time. Because I don't want to believe it. But nothing ever comes of it and I leave the store upset. Again.

So yeah... buying tickets is a PAIN. I hate it. >.

That stool is ubber cute! If you are planning on making something out of that fabric.. I would go skirt. Weather was beautiful here today also. I great treat from the windy, cold days we have been having. yay for spring. I noticed trees budding out today, and it made me happy to see that touch of green. The daffodiles and tulips are blooming also. They look soo pretty. I need to take my camera with me and take some pictures!

Wow, you re-covered the stool? It looks so pretty. And because of the sunflowers, it reminds me of that superb film Be with You *______*

It's a real pity that you didn't get to see the D-Boys stage; I think it would be great if you'd gotten to see how they've gotten over time. But I guess a part of me is kind of a little glad that people bought their tickets because I'm always worried that they won't get enough work/love/salary... I hope at least you get to watch more stuff you want to :p Hope you have fun at your friend's sold-out play! :D
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on March 24th, 2007 11:06 pm (UTC)
At first I had no idea what that film was, and then I saw the japanese title. LOL I've seen that movie before! It was really weird (though the english title is a little odd.. not a correct translation -_-;;)

Oh, don't worry about the DBoys at all. They have TONS of rabid fangirls of the Johnny's variety, so they're in no danger of becoming unneeded. ^^;; I almost didn't want to go to the show because of the stupid fangirls that will shout in your ear and make you deaf (Bleach myu and Tenimyu are both like that now. They didn't used to be.. X.x). So I guess I'm not that upset. But I did personally want to see Yanako on stage again at least.. -_-;;

weather report

Now wait a minute. ;=)
The weather today in Chicago was very similar to that on half the days when I was in Tokyo back in December (2006). It was overcast, misty, and foggy. The temperature was 52°F when I left here yesterday evening for the Central Electric Railfans' Association's monthly meeting.
When that ended (@ 21:00 hours), I checked my E-Mail, and then went over to Cal's Liquors to see The Strange Attractor play out.

They didn't get on stage until 23:30 hours [two other acts].
By the time the show ended, it was 01:00 hours today; and it was 55°F. But guess what?
I was able to get back home for only $2.00 because, unlike some other world-renown city which should remain nameless, the transit system here does not shut down at midnight.
I caught the #N77 Belmont bus off the subway stop. I didn't have to walk the equivalent of from Ueno to Asakusa.
And some media report that the U.S.A. is completely besotten by the culture of automobiles. Well, it may be besotten by it, but not completely.

The weather will be warming up here. And hopefully, so will I.

There are some fairly good and cheap manga shops in Shinjuku, mostly west of the JR station; in Nishi-Shinjuku 1-(11~19).

Re: weather report
Haha, glad to hear that it's not as warm there anymore. =D It makes me feel better. Oh how I want the warmth baaaaaaack!! I've been waiting! And yeah, I wish that the train lines didn't shut down here. I really think they're in league with the bars/clubs and karaoke places.

Ah~ that's a pretty fabric for a stool! I wish I'm better with sewing and making stuff... *has a tendency to spoil things instead* If I do, maybe I'll start making pretty cushion covers for my desk chair! And good luck with your jacket~ Looking forward to see it =D

today was quiet nice here as well. I only needed a long sleeve shirt for most of the day. It was windy though, but enjoyed it.

The stool looks very nice :D good job.

Too bad about the d-boys, I wanted to go as well, but knew it would not happen, except to pay a fortune online.

I may be going to dl4 when i get there, but I don't know yet. ^^

Awesome. I love cheap fabrics. Maybe you can make, maybe shorts or pants?

I love the spring and fall weather. Its not too hot and not too cold. Its perfect!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on March 24th, 2007 11:10 pm (UTC)
Omg but... shorts or pants in that fabric..!! LOL I don't think they'd be cute at all!! :O Plus a skirt is easier. =D

I'm glad to hear the weather is warming up :-)

You sew! That's awesome. I'm trying to get back into sewing (I'm no expert, mind you, and I lose patience fast, but I like clothes so much!), and I went to get some fabric this morning, as well. I'll be looking forward to seeing pics of your new jacket ;-)

Have fun^^
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on March 25th, 2007 12:09 am (UTC)
Yep! I rarely get the chance to sew (I'm admittedly lazy, lol), but I really like to do it. ^^ I'm not that great, but I used to make cosplay costumes years back, so ever since then I've been in love with making things! ^^
Chiakichiaki777 on March 24th, 2007 08:01 pm (UTC)
ahh, very cool on the stool. ^^

And good luck on the jacket dear ^^ I'm sure it'll turn out dandy, at which point you'll need to post photos. :B

Ooh, I think that fabric would make a great shirt with buttons! I can definitely imagine that! Nice <3

Good luck ;o)
