Nana 2 on set ♥ Lotus and Strawberry ☆
On Wednesday, Chelsea and I also took a short trip to a place that I've been meaning to go to for a while now.. the Nana 2 "Lotus and Strawberry" cafe*museum! Of course, for obvious reasons, Nana 2 holds a special place in my heart, and this museum, though small, was a real treat! =^__^=

Next to the 'cafe' were real sets from the movie, including the famous table that Nana builds that most of the series takes place at, Hachi's makeup dresser and the poster of Trapnest that she tacked to her wall, their kitchen including sink and dishes, and the famous strawberry glasses, the bathroom sink (lol), and some of the costumes.

I was a little surprised by the lack of quality of the costumes!! Up close, though they seemed to be made of nice materials, but the stitching wasn't very good and there were threads coming out in places. I guess that costumes go through a lot of wear and tear, and they don't have to be well-made to look good on film, ne? They didn't have any of the costumes from the part of the movie that I was in, but there were a few photos of Blast on stage from that time, so it was really kind of nostalgic ♥ (I was trying to pick out my hand but it's impossible. Too dark....)

We took some pictures. My favorite picture of me, EVER, is now the picture of me at Nana's table. Oh love love love ♥

The display downstairs:

Hachi's room. That's the actual poster from the movie (or one of them), and her vanity.

Chelsea and me in Hachi's mirror ♥

Such a GREAT location!!! ^o^ It was set up to look just like the real location, hardwood floors and everything. I am in love with these pictures (am I retarded?).

The famous strawberry glasses from the movie.

707's sink area. I love how it says "kitchen utensils" on the holder for the utensils.

Their bathroom stuff. I love how they included the toothbrushes, lol. Kind of random. XD;;

Me being dumb in one of the other mirrors from the apartment.

My favorite moment from the movie, or one of them.... Okay, actually in the movie I didn't like them as a couple at all. In the anime either. But I love them as a couple in the manga. ^^;;; I wonder why.

These are out of focus, but it was a little dark in this area. These are some of the fliers for Blast. They're the same fliers that were on the walls when we did the concert scene. Some of the names of the bands are really funny. =D Unfortunately the flier with Blast listed twice isn't there. ;__; Aww..

Ahhh, what an experience. <3 After that, I went to Animate and ordered a necklace that looks like Matsumoto's from Bleach. ^^;; But it was pretty!! (and cheap.I wonder if the quality will be any good...) I just might not be very cool after all, huh.. ^-^;;

aw, I love the picture of you at their table, too! I think I like the strawberry glasses from the anime better, though. I saw them at the 315 yen shop, but my sister wouldn't let me get them cos she said it wasn't worth 630 yen for two 100 yen glasses >< I may still go back and get them, though... Although I think I've seen the ones from the movie at the actual 100 yen shop...

I think you should wait for the 100-yen shop versions. ^o^ I've seen them before too!! Though I always forget to buy them!! I'll definitely buy them the next time.

Oooh, I love these pictures! I hope I get a chance to visit the museum at some point~ *O*

Out of curiosity, why do you like it in the manga but not the anime (haven't seen NANA 2 yet, so I can't speak for that one)? I personally find I like the relationship in the anime a little more than in the manga. I think it's because in the manga you can see it beautifully, but in the anime you can hear it too. For example, I found the entire scene at the end of episode 31 when he shows up and Hachi is getting sick at lot more touching than when I first read it in the manga, because I could hear Takumi's concern. In the manga you can see the expression, but you're never sure how genuine it is. It always made him seem very mysterious to me.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 12th, 2007 01:59 am (UTC)
It's only open until this Sunday, so you'd have to hurry!! (I waited so long I almost missed it! ^^;;)

I think that I dislike it in the anime/movie because it really comes to life how much of a jerk Takumi is. He really, REALLY doesn't treat Hachi well and she just puts up with it. I kind of want to yell at her to let him go and move on. But in the manga, they show a lot more of the 'good' parts of her relationship with Takumi (like the nice house, being taken care of and getting spoiled, getting married, her trip with him to her family house where he was really awesomely awesome), and in the anime and movie they didn't get that far yet. It's also just unnerving to hear him yell at her like she's a spoiled child (though she admittedly IS), but it seems too harsh. It's easier to ignore it or play it down in my head when reading the manga. I guess that it doesn't help that I've really loved some of the more recent things with them in the manga, like the tabloids thing, and the visit to the family. He was actually human there, almost, it seemed. Plus points for him.

When he shows up to see the sick Hachi, I actually really started to hate him in the movie/anime. He yells too much, and what he does on the phone with Nobu is so cruel! He doesn't seem to care at all about Hachi-- I keep getting the impression that he only is going for her because he wants to beat Blast at everything, and stealing her from Nobu is one thing that he can easily do, since she is so flakey. I think that if he really cared about Hachi, he would have comforted her rather than stealing her phone and leaving her sobbing outside her own door. So, so cruel. ;__;

Oh no~ I'm going to miss it. I won't be in Japan until the summer. ;_;

Oh man, yea, the whole thing with the phone was increadibly painful for me to watch (and read). When I first read it I just kept thinking "What a bastard" over and over. And then at the end of episode 32 when Nana and Nobu are both in her bedroom just crying really broke my heart. That part of the story is always so painful for me, because I think that if that hadn't happened Hachi and Nobu would have stuck together. Even in the manga in some of the flash forwards you can tell they still have these hidden, unremitting feelings for each other. It's so sad~ ;__;

Oh WOW! ^_^ It really makes you feel like you're in the 'Nana-world'...even by just looking at the pictures. -amused at all the little detials there on the kitchen counters and stuff-

Aww, I wanna go there too! I want a strawberry glass! It's really cute how they managed to replicate Room 707, I really wanna see it sometime (and enter the NaNa world at least :D)
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on January 12th, 2007 02:39 am (UTC)
It closes on Sunday, but maybe they'll put it up again in another more permanent place... I hope so!

Insomniainsomnia on January 12th, 2007 06:12 am (UTC)
I just downloaded and watched the first Nana movie recently. Quite good, with a nice friendship/quasi-romance between the leads and lots of atmosphere.

They don't seem to have the second movie available online yet. :-/ Must wait longer, I guess...

The vertical picture of you sitting by the table was really nice! It had a really calming feeling to it ^^
kidabean on January 12th, 2007 11:36 pm (UTC)
Love the pics! I agree with chazagi, I really like that one ^_^. I have an idea of why the place has a special meaning for you, but I haven't read up to how it all came to be yet!

I'm still reading your stuff from 2002 onwards!

You're a really good writer you know? If you're still thinking of ideas to earn some money you could always write an autobiography and get it published!! =P I'd buy a copy, ha!

Glad you had a great time, and expect to see comments on some of your ealier entries. Waaaaaaaaay ealier! XD

And I did what you said and went to Tokyo tower xD felt like a dork...but gah, wow. If a place ever made you feel tiny that does it. And I got really lost xD *dork*

I hope that necklace is of somewhat good quiality, it looked really nice in the picture...well...pictures are deceiving.
