On New Years in Japan, there is a very popular tradiiton to send out Nengajyou (年賀状), or basically a postcard that the Post Office delivers on New Years day. There are various reasons for it, both to people whom you have professional relationships with, and friends or family.

I was really happy to receive some this year.... though I didn't send them out. I guess that I still haven't quite become japanese enough. ^^;;;; But I think that next year, I will make some and send them out to the people in Japan that are special to me!

Okay, I only got three this year plus one from a big art store that I have a membership at, but. ^^; It's still very sweet to be in people's thoughts! Nagayan's was really cute. And some from my students!!! Wai! ^o^ They'd asked for my address, so I knew that it was coming, but I still really appreciate it. ^^ It makes me wonder if maybe, I actually have made a little mark in these children's lives. Someday, when they're grown up they may remember me and fondly. ^^ That makes me think a little better of my job. I love interacting with them, and while I know that teaching isn't for me, it really is special. And heartwarming ♥

I haven't played basketball in years, but I really love it.. it turns out that Yo-kun (Junko's brother) thinks that he's better than me so.... I must start playing again! All so that I can beat him one day. >=D I look forward to it!!!! I do love basketball though... and have been thinking about playing it for fun somewhere, and this is the perfect excuse!! ^O^

On a side note, in the second half of 2006 I lost about 20 pounds. Half of this is due to being sick recently, but the rest is just because I started eating healthier and became more active.  I am lighter by 10 pounds than I was in high school, but still fatter... ahhhhhh don't you love the human body muscle dynamics(not)? I lost a lot of muscle being sick and I'm sure that it will come right back but... damnit. I want to be able to wear a bikini like when I was little (not that I ever did, but I could have.. and now I want to). But a flat stomach eludes me....... o.o;;; Don't you wish that eating better and losing weight meant that your fat went bye-bye? But nope, the sickness ate up my muscles. Now that I'm on the 'getting better' track, I guess it's time to build them up again!!

Oh and not related, but the other day I got an email from Yoshitsugu Abe. (the first Kawamura in Tenimyu) I thought that was really sweet of him. I've been meaning to write back to him, but I'm kind of lazy recently. ^^;;;;;; One day...

And on another note.... Happy Birthday to some very dear friends of mine!! Wally, Eda, and Nana-chan ♥ I hope your birthdays are/were great!!

Re : your students
It makes me wonder if maybe, I actually have made a little mark in these children's lives.

Of course that is. They will grow up and always remember you as good and nice teacher. ^_^

I think that is because in Japan they eat more healthly than in America, don't you think so?
And yo really like to travel or going out with friends, and that helps a lot.

(sorry if I wrote something wrong; my english is actually on off mode)

I think that traditional japanese food is healthier than what most Americans eat nowadays... but I don't like most of the really healthy japanese food very much, so I don't eat it as often. ^^;; But I just started eating a lot of fruits and vegetables instead of candy, and that seemed to do the trick. In general, I've felt a lot better for it too. ^^

That tradition is rox ^^ The cards seem really cute, see kids aren't all about bad things XD
I don't like basketball very much, I think it's because you have to actually RUN, which I hate XD
But GO GO \O/
And answer Yoshitsugu XD don't be that lazy (yeah I've a lot of moral to talk about laziness :P)

I'm glad you're getting better from your sickness***

Awww...those nengajyou are so cute! I think it was really sweet of your students to send you them. And I hope you beat the pants of Yo-kun when you play against him XD Oh, and it was sweet of Abe to write you, ne? Write him back so he knows you appreciate it, even if it's just a quick note to say thanks <3

-hugs- Take care of yourself!! I don't want to hear that you're sick like that again.

Hehe, yesh~ I got my first nengajyou this year, too ^^
Oh yes and I heard that the post offices in Japan hold the cards back, so that they won´t arrive to early ^^ that´s great !~

Hnn~ well first of all congrats for losing weight !
BUT I personally think that it´s not important how HEAVY someone is, but how someone LOOKS. And you look really thin, so what ??!
And I also think that Japanese food is pretty healthy .. more healthy than American and German stuff I guess ^^
They always say that every 3rd person in Germany is too fat... but when I look around me I don´t see so many fat people ... guess it´s the same with America ? I´ve never been there, but I think that there are NOT as much fat people as we Europeans think there are ?!

Yeah, I don't really care what I weight, but I want to have a flat stomach and abs, which I don't... that's the real problem. And I used to do situps and things like that, but they never seemed to make a difference. I guess that I'll have to get liposuction or something when I can afford it someday. I just hate waiting. -_-;;

LOL America.. I think that it depends on where you go, what the people look like. When I went back to visit, I landed in Seattle and I was shocked because 90% of the people thatI saw everyday were overweight. Not just a little or healthy weight, they were very obese to the point of it being bad for their health. But when I flew to Arizona, almost everyone there looked a healthy weight. People who were largely overweight were a very small percentage, I felt. So I guess that it depends on where you go, but in general, I think that it's true that most Americans are gaining weight to an unhealthy degree. It's mostly the wide availability of high-fat-content foods, and the wide lack of exercise for a lot of people that does it, I think.

I understand. Well a flat stomach is important for us YOUNG girls, isn´t it ? (and we still ARE young, right ? ;__; .. *sigh*) .. liposuction ? AAHH I guess I would be too afraid of that ^^; ... but on the other hand .. why not if you really get a flat stomach :) (well I guess it´s really expensive x_x and if I had the choice I would go to America to get it done ^^;)

I see ! I´ve heard that there´s now even a law that forbids a special kind of fat in French fries and other fast food. Way to go ^^

Good job with the healthy eating and being active! I really admire people who really get it going because I never get far with it >.< I start it but it doesn't take long when it one way or another just gets forgotten. Mou. A week ago or so I decided to try to eat more fruit. Sure I do eat more of them, but what about other food? Man, am I missing self-control. I guess I really need to learn to eat before I get too weak ^^'''

Me blabbering again xD
