To everyone: The 8.1 earthquake that struck wasn't near Tokyo. I didn't even feel it at all.. ^^;; I didn't even know something had happened until I woke up to emails and things like that...... ^^;;

Edit: Erin said it best here.

Hooo that’s great… I was worried about it, when I heard about the earthquake I started to think if you were fine. It’s a relief… thanks for post this.

*grins* ^___^

Glad you're ok!
Ironically this was the day I taught my kids about the Ring of Fire and tsunami.
I had a nice lead in (because by the time we went to school we knew the tsunami wasn't very bad) to tell the kids about the experience in Japan.

Dear CNN. Tokyo does not equal Japan.

Love, me.

You mean that you're still safe, even though it was over a thousand miles away from you?

I find it amusing that most people outside of those of us who live near active faults don't really *GET* earthquakes. They always seem compelled to call after any quake, even when the distance involved is more or less equal to the distance between California and Colorado.

I mean, it's not like I call people in Atlanta whenever a hurricane touches down in the Midwest.

A hurricane in the midwest...?

Perhaps you mean a tornado.

Sorry, brain hiccup.

I saw a picture of its location in the newspaper today. Seriously, my mom uses every chance she gets to try to convince my bro not to go to Japan for an exchange student year. She was like. 'Look now. They had an 8.1 earthquake in Japan and a tsunami warning.' I just came to the room and was like 'So what'. Gosh, can't she just give up and support him going? Stupid woman.

Well, I'm glad you're okay. If I remember correctly you don't really mind earthquakes ^^
