Naka naka ii jyan nya (=^o^=)
Is Po-chan not the cutest thing you've ever seen? Hoshiiiiii-nya!!

This afternoon/tonight I went to Jun's place again to check up on her progress for the song. She must have been doing a lot of practicing, because she was amazing!!! We had lots of chatting about lots of things, and then her live manager and I helped her get the feeling right on the song... how to make her fans swoon the most.. it was so much fun, we all sang together (even though my voice sucks!!) and I played a rabid otaku fanboy, it was a great time♪♪

We went out to eat sushi afterwards even though it was pretty late, and it was so much fun! Wow, it's really been a long time since I went to eat sushi! Wow, it was so much fun with the four of us too, and kind of a feeling of nakama (close friends?) that I haven't felt so quickly with anyone in a long time. It really relaxed me and put me in a great mood. Today I wanted to write a post about some of the things that have been bothering me (private though..) but I think that, just for tonight, it's okay to forget all about them. Not to think about them is iin jya nai nya? ^^

I am really practicing my japanese a lot now.. I'm slowly but steadily building on what I know, and I can hold casual conversations more easily now... though of course there is still a loooooooong way to go and a lot of subjects that I can't talk about or feelings that I can't express in Japanese, but I'm glad to make progress (I know I say that a lot but..) I'm finding it easier to talk and ask questions, and it's easier (though not easy) to understand the answers a lot of the time. A question for people who learn japanese... do you also find that occasionally, there are words that you learn that you can't really express well in your native language? Like for example, I could say that "kakkoi" is translated as "cool", but really it's not that simple. Not even close......

Today I also learned how to talk and make it the cutest possible.. LOL at times apparently I was speaking like a man, lol. Of course I can't tell the difference very well, but it is reeeaaaaallllllly fun to let loose with the neko mimi. ♥

Jun-chan is going to take me out driving in a little while, when the leaves start to turn, too. And tonight's foursome are planning karaoke and many trips together. I can't wait, I've really grown fond of her, she is such a sweet, funny person♪♪ I'm looking forward to the live this weekend, too♪♪If you've ever seen any of Junko's anime, please let me know and I'll translate any comments that you'd like me to give her. ^^ She'll be happy for sure ☆★

You know so many cool people! [jealous] I've seen Card Captor Sakura (I think Wiki said she was in that) but it's been too long since I have so I don't know what to say. ;_; But I'll see if any of my friends have something to say if that's all right~! You can practice your Japanese. ^_^

Oh, I always have that problem. I'm constantly being asked what something means in Japanese (or, if I'm talking to someone in English, and my friends want to know what we were talking about), or vice versa. かっこい is definitely one I run into problems with, since it could be translated as like... "cool," "hot," "good looking," "neat"... and in all other sorts of ways. I mean, boys are かっこい and cool looking clothing is かっこい, and many, many more. That's a difficult word. XD; Translating from Japanese > English is just really difficult period - I could know exactly what the person is talking about in Japanese, but when I try to translate it in Japanese in my head, it just doesn't work. I'm at the point where I just automatically respond/process things instead of translating it in my head - it's probably why I do have such a hard time with translating things period.

That said, glad you had fun. <3 You're really lucky to have friends you can consider that - I'm having a real difficult time trying to make friends here.

Oh oh oh oh.. Junko Iwao. *just squees a little bit*

She was Tomoyo in Card Captor Sakura. Tell her that I loved her voice for that character, it was so pure and sweet. And tell her that I wish her luck for her Live and I hope she does her best!

*SQUEE JUNKO IWAO -done now*

Wooow! o(°__°)o Iwao Junko!!!
Well that’s more スゴイ than かっこい … xDDDD
(I bought a kanji trainer today so I can remember them better… There were thinks like:
母 -> association: ‘she has got two rooms for her two children’--> so it's the kanji for 'mother' XDD forgive me this randomness xDDD)
Love reading your lj! (o^0^)o がんばってね。d(^w^)b

BTW: Ever heard something about the Japanese Language Proficiecy Test? =)
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on October 23rd, 2006 09:31 pm (UTC)
Yep. That test is the goal for almost everyone studying japanese in Japan. Ohhhhh how I wish that I could at least get to the level that could pass 2-que soon. ;o;

Po-chan is quite the cutie!! ^_~ I've been contemplating on either getting a Pomeranian or a Chihauhau when I get my own place. I love small dogs. :D ~~

I should pick up my Japanese again. I had taken it two years in high school and i'm starting to miss it. Once in awhile I go to the club meetings (they're going to Japan this year *_*) but I can't make it this time. Next year, though!

Have a great time Karaoking! ^_^

" A question for people who learn japanese... do you also find that occasionally, there are words that you learn that you can't really express well in your native language?"

I'm taking my first year of Japanese at the university of Oslo and our lessons are a big mish-mash of Japanese, English and Norwegian since some of the Japanese words can't be translated well to English and some don't translate very well to Norwegian, etc. Some days it just feels like my head is going to fall off, and I walk around the rest of the day talking in Japanese-English-Norwegain @_@; It's fun, though.. but also a bit frustrating, since it feels like I can't really properly express what I want to say, and finding good translations for some sentences just seem impossible ^^;

Ohh wow, could you please tell her that all of her songs from Card Captor Sakura are by far my favorites?? The way she can make her voice go up so high (must be so uncomfortable and hard to really sing with, I'm guessing her real voice is more like the way she sings in Scarlett) and yet the songs are so calm and gorgeous, they always make me feel so nice :) Card Captor Sakura is one of my most favorite anime/manga ever XD

Also, I read all your blogs and you're always so kind and optomistic about things, it's really inspirational :)

I absoluetly adore "Scarlet", opening to Ayashi no Ceres. That song brings a tear to my eye each time I hear it, it's sung with such sincerity. It's always interesting hearing about your new adventures! ^_^

I find it strange that you live in japan and know a LOT more japanese then me but havent really noticed that before (or maybe you have?) But yeah, there are some words that you just can't translate properly because the cultures are so different there isnt anything that's really equivalent to it.

I know you said people don't have to comment when they add you, but XP Hello anyway. I really want to work in japan when I'm out of school, and depending on how much I love it, maybe live there too, so I'll love hearing about your life in Tokyo :}
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on October 24th, 2006 11:27 am (UTC)
I've noticed it before, I just haven't really written about it. ^^

Good luck getting to Tokyo!! It's been a really wonderful experience for most people that I know who've come here. ^^
