Enoshima ~ 昨日江ノ島に行った☆
Yesterday, friends gave us a guided tour of Enoshima. Perfect, since they live there!! =^__^= It was.. amazing!! I am definitely, DEFINITELY going back!! And next summer, I'm going to go swimming on the beach and on the rocks. It was amazing... I can't believe that I've lived so close to it for so long and never been there! (okay, it's about 90 mins away by rapid train, so not close per se..) But wow.... so so beautiful!! I would live there if I didn't want to live in Tokyo (my lovely Tokyo). Just... gorgeous. ♥

There is a gorgeous little village at the bottom of the mountain that leads around to caves and rocky inlets, and the hill is dotted with little shrines, a lighthouse and gardens, all kinds of people, and then on the other side are gorgeous beaches and an aquarium!! The aquarium wasn't as good as Sea Paradise, but it has a jellyfish exhibit, which made it awesome!!!! ^o^

A-chan and I went with Pappy and Kaito. Kaito is a third grader right now, and my favorite third-grader in the entire world. =^__^= He's so adorable!!! And such a ham!! ^o^ Pappy and Kaito really gave us the whole inside tour, it was great!! Though in 90% humidity, glaring sunlight, and roughly 90 degree temperatures, it was brutal at times!! I really got baked by the sun, I am red all over! ^_^;; It's far worse than last time, but I wasn't expecting it this time! It's been cloudy and overcast most days, and it was supposed to be cloudy yesterday too, but.... ahhhh well!! I was dead tired last night too, but got a lot of sleep and feel ready (almost) to go back again!! It tired me out, but refreshed me at the same time. ~_~ Friends and clean sea air... what more can one ask for in life?? ^o^//

I LOVE jellyfish, did I ever tell you that? I do!! ^o^

I also love the ocean... It makes me feel so nostalgic and excited, like few things really do. I want to sigh, thinking about it again. ^^ Maybe, just maybe, I should have became a marine biologist. I think I would really enjoy that career, though perhaps not quite as much as being an artist. But I am happy and excited about what I've chosen to pursue..

I also love boats. ^o^ I would really like a yacht of my own one day. Ot a tallship, but I'm sure that'll always be a little bit out of my price range. ^^;;;

Heading over to Enoshima island. ^o^

Kaito is a ham ^_^

I want one of those waterskis!!!! I am definitely going to get one one day!!

This is a very, very expensive onsen according to Pappy. Does anybody want to go with me sometime during the winter? It is supposed to be over 2,000 metres deep!!

Shopping district.

My friends shopping... ^^ (minus A-chan.... I forgot to take a group picture! ^_^;;;)

Looking down at the beach from the hills.

I love these talismans that hang in the temples to ward off spirits. ^^

The fountain in the temple was a turtle... regurgitating water. =D

Can you SEE how hot it was?

A small shrine entrance. The dragon was only put there about 10 years ago..

And this... THIS is gorgeous!!!!!! These rocks reminded me of something out of the Myst games (which I LOVE too!!!). There are pictures of them interspersed with pictures of the caves because of the way that we walked around... ^^

You can barely see in the distance one of the smaller islands of Japan. I forgot the name, but it's home to an active volcano that erupted about 2 years ago. Sometimes you can see it throwing lava in the dark. And yes, people live there..

Inside the cave, they gave us candles to light the way.......

Ghosts? ^o^

There were these little statues placed in the tunnels to guard it..

Don't hit your head!! There were times when I had to bend almost halfway over! ^_^;

Kaito wanted a picture of the no-smoking sign. =D Very important in a cave!!

Going back out, on the way to the second cave..

There were all these disgusting bugs there, that have changed little since ancient days, according to Pappy.

Inside the second cave, there were "jewels" that led the way to a... dragon!! There were sound effects too, kinda cheesy. LOL But I like dragons. ^^ And caves. (and jewels, incidentally), so I can't complain!

"I see the light!!"

The lanterns near the entrance. ^^

And then, we went onto the gorgeous ethereal rocks!! I was spellbound, it was one of the most gorgeous places that I've ever seen in my LIFE. ♥

We weren't sure what it was.. or what it used to be, rather..

A fisherman.. ^o^

A panorama of Enoshima bay!! ^o^ I put it together from a few photos.. I'm definitely going to get a panoramic camera one of these days!! Click on it for a larger version!

This was near the lighthouse.... So gorgeous!!

Eheheheh.... I don't know if "cocking" has another meaning in Britain, but in America, it's only associated with guns and dirty words.. XD;;;; At least on the west coast!!

From inside the lighthouse. =D

And more of the gardens. ^^

These were supposedly the handprints of some famous kabuki actors. ^^

This is a very famous suicide spot near the top of the mountain. I didn't see anybody jump... or any bodies (though you couldn't really see far down). Wow... o.o

Near the temple =D So much pink!!

I got told that I take pictures from a lot of funny places after taking this.... LOL

At the temple...... (of money?) I prayed!!!

Back to the village. ^^

And to the BEACH!!!! The first time I have seen the beach in years!!! ^o^ (And the first time ever in Japan!)

Walking in the surf....

And on to the aquarium ^__^

This little girl is so cute!!

This is a giant Japanese spider crab. I can't give you a good idea of it's size from the picture, but imagine a crab twice the size of a full-grown cat and you get the idea!! I tried to get a picture of them at Sea Paradise too, but they didn't come out. This is a little better. The light is just too dim, since they live pretty deeply!

Stingrays.... which are kinda sad, now. But still beautiful creatures....

These are just weird. Standing fish..... o.o;; These were also at Sea Para, I think that I took pictures..

Heheeee!!!! I have stuffed versions of these hanging from my computer desk from SeaPara!!! =D =D =D

And JELLYFISH!!!! Kurage yay!!!!! ♥

Those round things that look like stones are eggs!!! OoO

These are gorgeous!!

These are the kind that you see around the Seattle area...

These are really, really deadly!!

Do you agree?

Close-up of the eggs...

That is Mt. Fuji in the distance. ♥ I have yet to go there, but I will someday soon!!

This is how sunburned I got.. and how windblown!!! x.x It doesn't hurt as much today as itches!! (Though it does hurt a little bit...)

And what I look like tired, wearing the hat of an 8-year old boy. =D

On the way home, A-chan and I took the romance car (thank you Pappy!! ^o^). (It's not romantic, by the way... LOL still no idea why that name was chosen) It was so comfortable!!!! It's not too expensive, and was definitely worth it. It was only an hour's trip too, much less than it took to get to Enoshima! ^o^ But anyways... the on-board menu..... XDXDXD So if you can only read english, your choice of snacks is quite... interesting. XD;

Annnnd back to reality.......!! (no!! ;o;)

So I am back to normal life..... but I think that I'm going to work even harder now on my goal, and definitely, definitely take more vacations out of the city. It's cheap, and a great way to get my mind energized!! ^o^ Go go! Faito faito!!

Ahhhh so tired!! I have a lot of things to do this evening!! *gets to work* I bought the new issue of Ribon to research some things... I didn't know that the new Powerpuff Girls Z manga runs in there! =D

I dunno why, but I just love to look at mantas and jellyfish *behind glass, from a save distance* lol
maybe they emmit a certain signal/tone that makes the fish come to them, I can't imagine their 'meals' to just swim up to them by themselves...

I found your LJ through japan_pics and I just wanted to drop a line and tell you how gorgeous your pictures are. They were all absolutely breathtaking. I particularly loved the one "near the lighthouse" and I also liked the pictures overlooking the beach, with the rocks... how wonderful. The jellyfish were awesome, too ;-)
Thanks so much for posting and sharing your pics.
