Yokohama Sea Paradise
I'm quite sore today! I'm a bit sunburned, and definitely dehydrated~! I decided to stay home today and cancel plans, because I am just not up to going out and socializing.. It's all because of yesterday! But I wouldn't trade it for the world!! ^o^ I had so much fun!!! (And I went a whole day without saying anything in english!! Wow! *o*)

I went with Motoki and Yuuko to Yokohama Sea Paradise. Starting at 10 am, I didn't get home until after midnight!! It was my first time being there, and really exciting!! It's a bit like Sea World, but different too. If you didn't know, I actually love the sea!! The creatures of the sea fascinate me, especially jellyfish (くらげ), seahorses (シーホース), and starfish (ひとで). ☆

There were a lot of rides, my favorite of which was this roller-coaster that jutted out over the sea. So exciting!!!! In the morning there was no wait, and we pretty much went right on, but that night when we came back there was a long line, so we only got to go once.. Yuuko was scared stiff, though! XD;; But I LOVE rollercoasters!!  \(^o^)/ ~wooooooooo! There is also a Freefall-type ride that we all loved!! ^O^ I loooooooooooove rollercoasters!!!!

We went on a 15-minute cruise that rounded the island, and it was so refreshing!! It was extremely hot and sunny, but the cool sea breeze felt great, so early in the morning. Then afterwards, we went to check out the Dolphin Fantasy attraction, which was gorgeous, and then on to the aquarium. Soooooo gorgeous!!! ^o^ We watched a really nice Dolphin show, and then shopping, and dinner, and sightseeing.

At this point, my camera died and when we went back into the aquarium, I couldn't take any more pictures with it. But I took pictures with my cell phone, and Yuuko took lots of pics too. ^^ I finally figured out, around the time of fireworks, that I could take full-quality pics with my ketai though, and took some nice ones of the fireworks! ^^

I tried yuzu-flavored ice cream, which was like a dream!!! Next time I go back (and I will!!), I will definitely try the wasabi ice cream, though!! If I had been hungrier, then I would have tried more than one. ^^

And now on to the pictures!!! ^-^ There are so many that I have to post, some from my camera, some from my cell phone camera when I ran out of batteries..
I keep saying that photography is one of my hobbies, and it's true.. ^^;;; Never truer. I take so many pictures! It's okay if people don't like them, because I enjoy taking them and that's why I do it. Also, I do it because I like to be able to look back at them and remember. ^^ I want to have a show one day, though of course these kinds of casual pictures aren't what I would put in a show...... ^^

On the train on the way to the park.. See what I mean about new hair color? I like it, I want to add blonde streaks though. ^^

I loved the sign!

This is the rollercoaster that just over the water (on the other side of the island)

Me and Yuuko on the ferry ^_^

Motoki on the ferry ^_^

Through the porthole

Ahhhh feel the breeze!

I loved the spray of the water churned up by the ferry wheel! =D

Approaching the island again. ^__^

This was the Freefall!!! I wanted to take a picture from the top, but it wasn't allowed to take cameras with you, since they can fall and hurt people.

"Welcome Happy Island" It's the thought that counts. ^^;;

SO COOL looking! Inside here was the aquarium.

The water ride!! It was fun and SUZUSHII but too short!! I soaked my hat in the water before I got off so that I'd have something to keep me cool. =D;;

I thought this sign was funny. *BONK*

Dolphin Fantasy ^o^

The dolphins liked to dive down in the water, and just... stay there.. LOL

So beautiful!!! ^o^

This diver is covered in fishes!!

Ummmm....... Only the BEST picture EVER!!! ♥ He was... um, well let's leave it to your imagination what it looks like. =D

Pretty yellow fishes.

Çlown fish and pretty anenomes. =D

I love jellyfish!!

There was this gold sparkling light behind the fishes... So pretty!!! It wouldn't come out on film, though..

Some pretty anenomes that you could kind of touch...

PENGIN!!!! Or, at least, that's how they say it in japanese..

I just like the colors in this one. ^^

Lookin' at myself in the mirror.. ^^

This is what it looked like, the lights were really low... Pretty, deshou? ^^

Polar bear ^-^

PENGIN again!!

This penguin made #2 in the pool!! And of course, everyone whipped out their cameras, lol!

I really love this..

The walrus doing a sexy pose! ^.^

Dolphin tricks. ^^

This sculpture in a courtyard-like area was really pretty. ^^

These starfish were touchable. ^__^

These are standing eels.... aren't they cool? ^^

Sunken ship???

There is an octopus hidding in there...

Yuuko thought that these fish had human-like faces! =D Kind of creepy, ne?

This is a GIANT octopus!!! Kind of creepy!! I couldn't get a good picture, unfortunately..

Lobster, anyone?

Tell me you don't think this looks like something other than a fish!! Okay, it's not a FISH, but what does it remind you of? You get three guesses, and the first 2 don't count!! ^o^ *coughs* Below I have a ketai camera version of it, and that's even more *ahem*. =D キラキラ

In the middle, those are alien experiments. Not sure what they're trying to do, but I can't believe they'd show it off to everyone!

Not your average garden-variety snail!

There are fish in this picture, somewhere........

I love seahorses. ♥

This turtle was HUGE!! You can't tell by the picture, but it was HUGE HUGE!!

And at this point my camera died for good. ;__; So ketai pics!

Hello!! =D

See what I mean?!?!?!!!!!
What do you think it looks like?? This was my FAVORITE exhibit in the museum.... how could it not be?!

Giant crab.......

Pretty jellyfish!

More random denizens of the dark~~~

Pretty, ne?

This too (STALKER Motoki again) thrived in the deep, sunless environment.

E he he he he he he he!!!!

And fireworks!!! When I figured out that my camera phone could take real camera-like pictures. =D

And here are some pictures that Yuko sent me ^-^

Me and Motoki at the tank where you could touch the starfish. ^^

Here pretty shrimpies!! ^o^

It sat on my head!! Whatever shall I do!

Yuzu Ice cream =D

STALKER??? ^_~

^o^ Hanabiiii!

And some extra videos:
Here is the finale for the dolphin show ^-^

Wow, glad you had fun. Looks so lovely, everything :p The part about not wanting people to bring their cameras up in case they drop them--that's amazing. I never knew places thought about things like that :) And the expressions on the "bonk/head-banging" signs are so cute--practically emoticons!! ><

Somehow, I'm reminded of that hilarious movie "Waterboys".

Defintely going there one day even though sea world already has these kinds of exhibits.

Eee, I love aquarium type places *o*
Looks like a TON of fun too- it's cool they also have rides.
I might be wrong, but I know there's an aquarium in Japan that houses a whale shark- is it Sea Paradise?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on August 21st, 2006 02:53 pm (UTC)
I'm not sure.. I don't remember seeing one, but I might have missed it?

darn i NEED to go to an amusement park xD; it looks so fun (from your pics)~ it looked fun in the tv commercials too lol.....
the only themepark i've been to in japan so far is yomiuri land, which would have been so dull without my friends...could you reccomend any xD?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on August 21st, 2006 02:54 pm (UTC)
Hmmmm...... I do recommend this one if you like the sea!! It's a great place!! ^o^ The only other one that I've went to was Tokyo Dome, but it's not all that interesting. It's good to go once, but not much of an amusement park.

I've heard that FujiQ Highlands is a really cool park, though!! You should check it out!!

Wow~ great pictures. It is kind of like Sea World, but it seems like there's more.

LOL, the alien experiments look like shark eggs or something. XD
Mewgokumew2 on August 20th, 2006 05:32 pm (UTC)
The place looks real cool!
Very nice pictures. I especially like the ones of the dolphins. .^^

hooray for fishes!
Glad you enjoyed the fishes, Jamie. Going to geek out on you for a moment here:

The alien experiment thingmos are shark or skate egg cases. They are also called 'mermaid's purses.' Not sure what species the ones pictured are from.

The beast in the picture below that one is a nautilus. It is a cephalopod (relative of octopuses, squids, and cuttlefish). The 6 living species of nautilus are the only extant cephalopods with an external shell.

The cryptic fishes in the picture below that are goosefishes (also known as monkfish) in the genus Lophius. They are tasty! You may have had them in Japan, where they are prized (my advisor was once served Lophius at a dinner with Emperor Akihito).

I could go on with fish IDs, but I'll spare you. ... If you liked this aquarium, you MUST see the Osaka Aquarium -- best in Japan.

Re: hooray for fishes!
*hugs* Thank you for the information, Shannon!!! ^-^

I'll definitely check out the Osaka Aquarium when I get a chance to go down there!!

I've never eaten a Goosefish, but not I really want to!! I hope that it doesn't taste like blowfish, though, which was a big letdown! ;_;
Pure Trancepure_trance on August 20th, 2006 06:59 pm (UTC)
I love how the dolphins weren't bottlenose for once. Looks like so much fun...I wanna go T_T`
