Me plus comics
After having a conversation with a friend about American comic books (specifically Gen13 and Generation X, two of the best comics EVER, in the beginning..), I felt like drawing me in comic-book style. <3<3 I used to draw in a style like this all of the time, before I got into anime/manga.

That was fun. ^-^ I miss comics!! Maybe it will influence my manga a little bit... just a little bit. ^-~ Few people that read this journal know that I used to be obsessed with comic books. Every Wednesday right after school, I could be found at the local comic book shop, where they knew me by name and knew my preferences well enough to always pull new stuff that they knew I would like. XD Ahhh the old days!! ^-^ For a long time, I used to want to be a comic book artist, before falling in love with manga and eventually changing my mind back to animation and then eventually on to mangaka. ^^

P.S.: The results are in, and
-->Happy people do live longer~!<--
So don't worry, be happy now♪

I'm glad you are liking it more now :D

I didn't know you used to like comic books. Since we are in the topic of comic books, I was wondering if you ever attended the Comic-Con in San Diego. I am going for the first time this year on July 20-23. Its going to be great! Nobuhiro Watsuki will be there (Kenshin creator) and my boyfriend loves Kenshin so I know it will be great having to meet him.

Well.. reason why I ask is because if you have before, I was wondering if there is anything I should know about a con like this. Any advise?

I used to be SUCH a comic book geek! =D I even looked the part-- big plastic glasses, hunched over all the time, only dressed in baggy shirts, acne, etc. Very very standard "geek" look, lol!

I never went to ComicCon, although I always wanted to. By the time that I was able to go to conventions alone (19...), I was already going to Anime Expo every year, and ComicCon was just too close to it to be able to afford it, unfortunately. But I would always read Wizard magazine and wonder over how much fun it must be. =D Ahhh, I feel nostalgic now!! ^-^

The only advice that I can give in general about a con is... don't lose your map! And have as much fun as humanly possible!! Oh, and drama is best left at home for a good con experience!! ^____^

I was almost sure you went to ComicCon at least once. Well.. I am going, my first time and I bet is going to be fantastic. I will take as many pictures a possible. I shall post all I can on my lj.

LOL.. I will do my best not to loose my map.

sorry for not saying it before, but that is a great drawing! I only wish I could draw half as good as you can.

Definately has that Caitlin Fairchild thing going =) I loved Gen13 back when it was being done by Campbell. I went through a BIIIIIIIIIIG american comic fan phase for a while. Till Joe Madurera started doing Xmen >_< Ugh. Battle Chasers was great but damn he was NOT great on Uncanny. Give me Kubert any day.

This particular style fits you very well.

Thank you ^__^ Drawing like this brings me back to old times... I think I've improved a lot since then, though! XD;;

Campbell was so good during the regular series run on Gen13. I wish that he'd never left, because then maybe it wouldn't have started sucking so badly. Well, some of it had to do with the writers, but man.. x.x It had so much potential! ;o;

It's cute =D I wish I could draw in comic book style sometimes, but I can't break away from anime style ^^; That's really neat though, that you went to a comic place that knew you so well! It's getting harder and harder to find those sort of places it seems .-.

Is it really? Oh man, that sucks! In Phoenix, they knew me fairly well, but I read more manga than comics at that point, and didn't have a box with them, but they still knew my name. ^^ One thing that I always liked about small comic book stores was that the staff would get to know you, or at least what you would like. (and subsequently steal ALL of your money! Argh!!)
