*patpat*

Psst. Bass.

I live in an apartment too, so I feel your pain. >_<;; It's worse when the old ladies go for all-out mahjong and/or karaoke sessions. o________o You can feel the glass straining and beginning to crack...

Just put on your own headphones, I guess. Or if it's that loud, bring a loaf of bread or something, and knock, politely ask him to shut up. xD I think it'll work, as long as you're nice.

Oh, I know EXACTLY what you´re talking about !!
And it´s definitely NOT only in Tokyo !! That´s a problem that occurs in huge cities EVERYWHERE ... in buildings with a lot of apartments x___X
I HATE PEOPLE like that !!! Why can´t they be considerate of others ??? ARGH !!! §$%§$% (x_x)
It should be forbidden by law to do so XDDDD
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on June 13th, 2006 02:38 pm (UTC)
Yeah, gah it's SO annoying!! I mean, if I have on music I can even still feel their base. And I never turn my music up that loud!! x.x That's what concerts are for, and stuff..

Thing is, it's illegal in America to do it, but I used to call the cops on my neighbors and they'd STILL keep doing it! My roommates used to get really mad at me, because they for some reason thought it was rude to call the police on a neighbor who was breaking the law. But I almost always did. SO RUDE!!! Gah it makes me mad to just remember it!!
超ちゃ人: my ass hurts !! XDchochajin on June 13th, 2006 02:59 pm (UTC)
That´s the problem !
We can call the police, too. But all they do is to say that they should be more quiet and just warn them. So ... it´s almost useless .______.
And I HATE noisiness !!!! It doesn´t matter if it´s music, tv, someone playing an instrument or hammering and stuff x___X ... it´s especially annoying at night, but also at daytime.

I don´t want to remember it ! (x____X#)

i have never had ppl near me who are *that* inconsiderate O_O poor you... sometimes they start renovating their houses at 8 am on saturday, if that counts as too much noise..... (seems like me is lucky)

but calling the police is O_O er... maybe it's the way ppl deal with inconsideration in america O_O i mean calling the police is like a really big deal to me and i wouldn't call them if i'm not in real danger or something O_O but that's probably just er... regional difference, or something...
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on June 13th, 2006 10:01 pm (UTC)
I think that calling the police is totally normal. That's what they're there for, after all. It's breaking the law to disturb the peace like that. I thikn it's more of a personality difference than a regional one though, since there are plenty of people in America who still won't call the police, they'll just suffer through the torture quietly.
ore-samathesundaywriter on June 13th, 2006 02:50 pm (UTC)
>.> haven't experienced that but the people in the next apt building are quite noisy, screaming and shouting at weird times in the night at god knows what when i wanna sleep ... i have a friend used to have a flatmate who listened to loud music too and the music was so loud he wouldn't even hear you knock on his door. and he used to play it when my friend's cellgroup was at her place too. sigh. such people are so selfish.
Maisonokoszk on June 13th, 2006 03:16 pm (UTC)
I hate noise, I hate base!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can still hear the annoying sound even with earphones on +__+
I'm the type who would go immediately to tell that guy to shut his music OFF.
Do I look too scary or something but it ALWAYS works!!!

But I still hate base though
I mean what do people think really, what's wrong with listening to music WITHOUT base????
I feel no different at all
And do they know how much it annoys people around????????
I can tell them to turn off their music but I have to do that EVERY time, even when I am sleeping
--> I hate base I hate base
tenikimetenikime on June 13th, 2006 03:23 pm (UTC)
I'd be totally intollerant of that person, I once had one neighbour who always played music as high as he possibly could early in the morning. EVERY DAY. Until of course I couldn't take it anymore, so I nearly blew his head of yelling at him, he hasn't played high music ever since^__^

Tell the person to be more considerate, cause what he/she's doing, especially at this very late hour is very rude.
thenefariouslee on June 13th, 2006 03:31 pm (UTC)
I totally know how you feel. In my dorm last semester, a lot of people were SO extremely noisy all the time, even during the nonexistent "quiet hours"... If you're on the second floor, I should NOT know what you're listening to when I'm on the ninth!! >_>

If the police won't help, how about talking to the landlord/building supervisor? I dunno, but if it's a constant problem...?

Oh, god. Here comes the Japanese fun of "complaining." Can you believe that we had an entire SECTION of our book dedicated to the PROPER way to complain.

PLZ sic your gaijin power of doom on him. He won't know what hit him ftw.

Thank god I don't live in an apartment, I would kill myself. We could call on the cops if the music is too loud on a car or what not. I did that and the guy never turn on his music ever again. grins Actually, yelling out to your neighbors always work. I always do that. I'm like: "TURN THAT THING DOWN. SOME PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO SLEEP!" xD
But yeah, you should attack him. nods furiously

Oh hey, I think I lived below that guy. Only his favorite time was 3am.
Mew: Greed - f-offgokumew2 on June 13th, 2006 07:06 pm (UTC)
Ugh. Not to mention a lot of bass makes it sound awful and just shakes walls. .>_< If he keeps it up, you should definitely tell him to knock it off or tell the landlord. That's so rude!
jean_kun on June 13th, 2006 07:26 pm (UTC)
It just doesn't happen in apartments, it's unfortunate for everyone too! But having that problem in an apartment is probably worse D: But I know what you mean! Sometimes, for no reason, people, probably really stupid hormonal male teenagers, will rev up their cars to the max and speed out on neighborhood roads just for fun! And more worse than that, they do it at night when people are sleeping! Also, while vacationing with the family once, we were spending the night at a relative's house, and the house next door decided it was okay to celebrate the 4th of July the night earlier, so when people were trying to sleep, fireworks went off and they cranked up their music to the max. And the relatives we were staying with are old people too. So inconsiderate!

You should really just scare him with your mystical Gaijin powers, it would be amusing XD

You have my sincere empathy. I loathe, hate, and detest bass, especially in excess. It doesn't have to be anywhere near me for me to get earaches from it, and where I live by the ocean, sound carries and reverberates throughout the neighborhood. If one person plays something with bass, we all hear it, even with our windows shut.

I hate that shit. Annoying. ._. Loud thumping and walls shaking. Fuck. At least they're not next door, right? X0

I love bass, but NOT when it's blasting ear drums. ~_~

Ugh! So rude!!! I don't know WHY people can't think about others, specially when they're in an apartment. Some people are just idiots. Period.

But I know how that feels...one of my room-mates, loves his music - does not care what time it is and will blare it at all hours of the day/night >_> I think I'm the only one who complains...and they think I'm being a bother when I do...
racingwindracingwind on June 14th, 2006 06:09 am (UTC)
>.<; That is rude. I had the same problem with my neighbor blasting the music and having a party.
Though couldn't you make a complaint to the person who manages the building? Or is it different in Japan?
jedijellyjedijelly on June 14th, 2006 02:32 pm (UTC)
On the whole "calling police" thing ... it's really up to how you feel the neighbor can be handled. I've gone to neighbors before and politely asked them to turn music or a TV down, and they have ... it depends on the neighbors. But then, like the guys who live below me, I have no tolerance for ... they shout and yell as though they live out in the country ... they gave up their right to being politely asked when they started behaving so badly. Or at least, they have in my mind. Plus, they seem a little violent, so it's not worth my safety just to make them feel as though they should be politely asked first. I know it probably wouldn't do any good, and if I were to ask, and they acted like jerks, and then I called the police on them, they will know it was me.

They should be happy they don't live in China ... I've seen people just throw stuff at each other when neighbors are too loud in apartments ^_^; ... that was scary ...
