In Shinjuku.....
All I have to say is... wtf?

Shinjuku makes the strangest choice in stores, I swear. Yes, they were selling drug paraphanelia inside. Ooooh dear. XD;;;;

Did you know that they sell something called a "legal drug" on the streets of Kabuki-cho Shinjuku? I've heard that it's really potent, and yes, it's completely legal. They sell it out of these shady-looking stalls. I'd never try drugs of any kind, but it does make me turn my head.

Crazy crazy Tokyo. =D

People really like the marijuana design here, even though of course it's illegal. x.x I didn't have my camera at the time, but the other day there was this restaurant that said "no drugs", but there was a picture of marijuana on the wall. Contradict much? XD;

Lol, that's really funny! Though selling drugs right in the street is kinda scary. And it's legal! But at least this is not adopted in America...if it was, I'd move out of the country right away ^^;
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on April 28th, 2006 05:25 am (UTC)
Well, of course normal drugs aren't legal (marijuana, cocaine, etc). It's this 'special' kind of drug that was made in a labratory, that's new enough where it hasn't been outlawed yet. I hope it does soon!!

One interesting thing that I heard is that it's only jail or a fine if you're caught with drugs. But if you're a foreigner caught with drugs, you're deported and NEVER allowed back into the country. How unfair is that? X.x (Not that I would ever use drugs, but people deserve the same treatment if they want to make Japan their home)

...Yeah, see, my brain went something like this:
Legal drug => Lawful Drug => Gohou Drug => CLAMP?!

xDDD;

But ohman, that's crazy. 8D;
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on April 28th, 2006 05:26 am (UTC)
Haha, yeah that's what I thought.. XD Do they call it "Lawful Drug" in the states? I always liked the translation "Legal Drug" better. =D

Drug
Legal or not, drugs are still drugs. >_> I say it's bad nevertheless. Nyeh.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on April 28th, 2006 05:46 am (UTC)
もちろん歌舞伎町です(汗) I almost moved there, too, because it's SO convenient to live in Shinjuku. But the place was smaller than my current place, which made it quite too small. ^^;;;

Yeah, I don't understand the need to use drugs. Some of my close friends used to use them, and I can never understand that part of them. I would never EVER do drugs. They're so bad for you. Same with smoking. If I had it my way, smoking would be banned completely. X.X

I guess what I really want to say is that it would be nice to have had the choice to live in Japan without having to go to such lengths as I have to to stay here. I don't like my current job very much, but I have to keep it because of laws governing American ex-patriots here. I don't think that it's fair for anyone, just because they are born in one place, that they can't choose to live in any place in the world that they'd like to. I think that everybody in the world should have that free choice. Certainly there are many Japanese citizens who would like to live freely in America, deshou? I think they also should be able to freely make that choice.

(sorry that I switched to english. I'm really tired at the moment.. ^^;;)

Of course I chose to live in Japan, and I've had to abide by immigration laws in doing so. And of course I will continue to do so. Perhaps I need to look into changing them, to make it easier for people who come after me? So that other people can find the choices that they want to make easier to carry out.

8 years and counting until I can get permanent residency. Certainly I don't want to give up my American citizenship, so this is the way that I'll have to go.
