Spring has finally come to Tokyo~☆
春が来たな♪

It's been alternating between beautiful, sunny days that are this close to being warm, and cool, rainy days lately. The sakura petals in Tokyo are almost gone, and the streets are littered with them, turning the walkways and thoroughfares into ethereal paths paved with the remnants of the japanese sakura season. It's really, really pretty. One thing is for certain, Spring has come to Tokyo.

Spring is my favorite season. I love the anticipated coming of the life-giving warmth, and perhaps even more so, the sight of blossoms that have hidden all winter making their appearance. It's as if life is finally coming back to the world, slowly driving back the chill feelings of winter.

On Friday, when I had to go to Shibuya to sign my new contract, there happened to be the annual Shibuya Sakura Matsuri!! ^__^ There were a surprising number of people packing the street outside of the Shibuya Animate ("Sakura Dori"), despite the fact that it was overcast and a bit randomly rainy, so I took the time to take a few pictures and walk around in the cold a little bit. ^_^

Some Sakura in Shinjuku Garden Park on Thursday. ^^

Arent' they gorgeous in the light? I didn't alter these pictures at all, they were really this pink!! ^__^

The Sakura Matsuri on Friday. ^__^

They look white because of the overcast sky. ^^

Engrish everywhere!!! Actually, it's a passage from "Alice in Wonderland", so it's not really engrish. But, I mean... come on!!

In non-weather-related news, I had a GOOD contract meeting! I got a LOT of praise, a big pay raise (yay!), an unexpected contract completion bonus (to be deposited this Friday into my acct), and a happy boss. ^_____^ I'm very very proud of myself!! I know that teaching isn't what I want to do in life, but I did try really hard to adjust this year to something completely new to me, with no training at all. I think this means that I came out on top!! ^__^

Woot! ^o^

Oooh! *squeals at the pretty flowers*

I must say, you've got really good photography skills! *snuggles* It's really nice browsing around your pictures, I always get a nice surprise, and it soothes the eye too! How I wish I could be in Japan during the sakura season...

Congrats to the good contract meeting! I'm glad that you've got a pay rise - that means you can go watch more concerts and musicals *giggles* - and a happy boss is always good, 'cos you'll get to stay in Japan longer (I hope)! LOL.

Thank you! ^__^ I studied photography for about 4 years, in college and high school, so it's nice to hear compliments on it. ^^ A side job I've always wanted is to work in photography somehow. ^^

Re: my contract. Well I'm contracted for another year, so I will get a visa that extends through September 2007 (this job will go through Feb 2007). ^^ So I'm guaranteed to be able to stay in Japan for at least that long. But by then, I plan to at least get started on the right career path, and I'm definitely not planning to leave Japan anytime soon!! Or ever! ^^

Congrats on the contract!!! :D

the lovely, lovely flowers...wish i were there! funnily, the trees behind my place are blooming, sort of. the pink ones flanking the now-dead tree that used to be covered with white blossoms at this time of the year, the pink ones are blooming; the white ones, no more.

but beautiful, right down to the ones white because of the overcast sky. :D Thanks for the pics!!! love pics like that, always make me want to travel :p

Who do you work for again?

Poor occamsrezr is really torn up about not getting into JET and the possibility of not moving to Japan with me. I wish I could help him more in the private sector but I know nothing of it myself.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on April 9th, 2006 04:33 pm (UTC)
I work for a reeeeeeeaally small company. I'd give you their name and website, but I'm afraid to mention them on my journal.. who knows what would happen nowadays. O.o;;

They're only in Tokyo and only hire locally, though, so it wouldn't really help for your friend, as none of the JET people get placed anywhere close to Tokyo. (Not close enough to commute, anyways)

Has he applied to NOVA yet? http://www.teachinjapan.com/
There is also AEON: http://www.aeonet.com/
GEOS: http://www.geoscareer.com/

And this group helped me out a lot when I first wanted to come to Japan. ^^ eikaiwa

Hopefully that helps a little bit!! ^^ If there's any other questions that you need help with, let me know and I'll do my best to help answer them. ^____^

sakura >.< oh I really wish to be in Japan now.

Speaking of sakura, Hinoai san, it seems that our local Nestle company decided to sell their new products... Sakura kit kats.

I remember you said you would like to get some more of those? If you would want any let me know yeah?
