Asakusa temple~
Japanese architecture is gorgeous...Yesterday, I spent the day going around to Asakusa temple and a few other places in Tokyo with Mika (Or should I use your real name? ^^) Awww, I wish that she didn't have to go back to Germany today... we had a great time together yesterday and I really liked her! ^^

Asakusa was really deserted, and the light was absolutely perfect for photos, so I took advantage of it. And here's my photo diary of Asakusa temple. ^^ This was my second time there, but it's still gorgeous the second time around. ^^

I experimented a lot with angles and light to get what I wanted. It reminded me how much I love photography. ^^

Asakusa temple's main gates..~~~

Mika praying at the main shrine. ^^ I love how the photo shows that she's completely still while the world moves around her. I can't believe that I got what I was trying for... *happy*

Rather boring picture of a statue...

All hail the buddha..!!

Leaf on the water of the koi pond.. how still, how tranquil. It's winter finally, and fall has passed..

Koi in their habitat..

These are idols dedicated to the Chinese calendar. Mine is the third one from the left.

I don't know what it says... sorry this picture is a bit boring too...

Much better. ^^

I love it!!!!

Even more love!

Another koi pond

Little shrine..

I uh... wasn't supposed to take pictures. ^^;; Which I found out afterwards.

And leaving Asakusa, we were in Shinjuku at night and I loved the lights... ^__^

So gorgeous!!!! I want to take some more pics like this soon!!

Random extras: Some of the candy that Mika had from Germany cracked me up!! The names!!!! ROFL!

Sorry there aren't any pictures of me.. ^^;;; Mika took some though, so I'll link to them after she posts them. ^^ Or post them myself. ^^

So what do you think is the best picture? I'm really proud of some, and others are a little boring. LOL

I think we stopped by there. Is that the temple near Akahibara or am I thinking of a different temple?

Know anyone who lives in Germany who would not mind guest from a friend of a friend for two weeks ^_^. I really want to go to Europe next fall, but I don’t want to get a hotel.

Jason is coming back to Phoenix, and he did not have room for guest anyhow *pout*. I thought he was moving to Germany for good.

Sorry, I don't know anyone that I can volunteer up. ^^;;

Whoa..... I didn't know that Jason moved to Germany!!!! I thought that he was still in the US!!! ;o; Wah, I'm really, really out of it! I miss Jason a lot...

My favorite is the one with Mika praying. There ren't a lot of temple-specific bits of scenery so it lends a certain ambiguity to the photo- a universality you might say. The variant motion and eyelines in the background also lend to a sort of quiet isolation for the photo. It speaks of a search for serenity in a hectic world. If you ever entered a photo competition, this would be one to submit, I think. Right, I'll stop with the nerd talk now.

Those are really pretty pictures. I thought Asakusa would be crowded this time of year...?

Milkas are good. ^__^
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on December 22nd, 2005 11:31 pm (UTC)
On the weekends they would, but not on Wed mornings ^____^ Next wekk It'll be really crowded, though...
Omegalildevilyouko on December 23rd, 2005 12:48 am (UTC)
Oh... yeah that would make sense that there aren't many people on a Wednesday. ^^;
I can imagine, it's Christmas and then there's new years.
By any chance, my package arrived yet? ^____^;
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on December 23rd, 2005 12:50 am (UTC)
I got a notice yesterday that I have a package, but I haven't gone to pick it up from the post office.. maybe that was it? ^^

Possibly. They did say it would take a bit of a while.

MILKA! My friend went to Germany, and upon request, bought me tons of it.

My favorite picture is the first shot of the temple on the blue sky. It looks like an absolutely gorgeous day~! And everything looks so peaceful. I feel slightly envious, as the holidays has everyone in a rush, now.

Glad you had fun. (:

I really enjoy seeing your pics, but I'm most fond of the one where she'd praying. I agree with you -- it's neat how the world is rushing around her. ^^
