JUMP Festa 2006 day 1~~~~ LONG report!!
Renji gives me irreversible brain-damage... I have been on winter vacation for 3 days now, and I feel like I've been busier than ever. And it's all thanks to JUMP Festa 2006!! If there was one way to describe my weekend, it'd be "FUN!!" Though honestly, "tiring" does a good job of it, too.

I barely even know where to start. We did a LOT of things.

We woke up super early on the first day of JUMP Festa, since it's all the way in friggin' Chiba (outskirts of Tokyo), about an hour away from Shinjuku. Geh. X_x Well, when we got there we realized why it had to be so far out-- it's friggin' HUGE!!! :O Whoa. There aren't any places big enough in Tokyo to hold something like this, I'm pretty sure.

My first impression of the place was.. "Wow... this is the closest thing that I've seen to Anime Expo in Japan." And that impression held throughout both days of the absolutely enormous event. Go figure that I, an avid participant in Anime Expo (masquerade especially) for years would immediately link it to that. I really miss being able to go to Anime Expo, but it really does seem that it'll be a while before I can go back there. Unless maybe one day I'm a guest and my plane fare is paid for. That would ROCK!

So, day 1......

We got there at the asscrack of dawn to take up our stances in line. Actually, Miyu and A-chan got there early, and T-chan and I had to sneak into line with them because we took the wrong train and had to backtrack a lot because we weren't paying attention (mostly my fault since I was supposed to be the guide..). I think this is where I show one of my not-so-nice sides. But I'm really, REALLY tired of people being rude to me over here (and it happens often, but I usually overlook it, I'm generally really easygoing), and so, well.. I won't hesitate to take advantage of the fact that I'm a gaijin when it comes to something like this. Being a really obvious foreigner causes me a lot of problems in Japan (like not being able to rent a lot of apartments - discrimination at it's best, baby!), so well... I was well going to take advantage of it. They weren't letting people cut in the massive line to be with their friends, but being foreigner, all we have to do is stand there and stare or look scared, and bam, nobody says a word! I actually snuck in without being noticed, but T-chan got caught and she looked like she was going to cry and they let her in. We're horrible.. ^^;;; But I don't regret it one bit. Next time that some asshole pushes me rudely out of the way on the train to beat me to the only spot open to sit, I'll remember this time and the benefits that I do have. :x But yeah, aaaaanyways~!!

We went in at 8:30, and along with many people, RAN through the halls to get to where we wanted, which happened to be hall 3, the last of the absolutely ENORMOUS things. Seriously, they were HUUUUUUUGE warehouse-like buildings. There were three halls, each of them packed with the kind of displays that you see from the big companies at Anime Expo, only MUCH bigger and fancier here! Ballons and giant video screens were really the theme of the day! It seemed that every booth had some sort of gimmick surrounding their products to make you come over! So yeah... we didn't get to see a lot of it, we just took our pamphlets and like the rest of the people around us, tried to get around the staff people who shouted "don't run!!" or "don't hurry!!" at everyone and stepped in their way if they were trying to run. I totally understand why they don't want people to run, but as someone who wants something and waited in the freezing cold for some time, nooo way were the other people running going to beat me. LOL Well, we did our best and hurried and only ran when we could get away with it. Soooooo, we finally arrived in the other hall. I didn't know what I wanted to do, so I follwed Miyu and A-chan who wanted to go and get advance ticket for Sunday's Bleach B-station events with Mori-Eiji, Nagayan, Kengo, Hayashi, and others. It turned out that unlike a lot of events at JUMP festa, they weren't free. You had to buy these special Bleach-themed snacks, and they'd give you a ticket, but only the first 150 people could get them. Of course, even if you didn't buy something, you could watch from outside the booth, but the experience was a lot better from inside, and we did get our tickets. ^^ And some nummy chocolate rice snacks, and a red cloth bag with a Bleach character on it. ^^

MMV's booth from afar MMV's booth from the side... sorry, but pictures weren't allowed during the events.
After this, we went to hang out for a while at the booth where The NaB's would be performing at 10:00. It just so happened to be in Marvelous Entertainment's booth right next door!! ^-^ I have to say... Marvelous had the BEST booth. And not because the booth itself was the most interesting. It was because they had the COOLEST guests!! And everything was free free free!! I love free!! ^-^

The Marvelous staff was on the floor giving out cool plastic fliers shaped like tennis rackets with pictures and cool cast announcements about the Tenipuri live action movie on the back of them!!! (Check gekipuri for more information!) They also gave out round.... fliers? Well whatever with pictures and OAV info on them! Uwa uwa uwa! I love cool freebies about my favorite shows!! ^-^

The NaB's came on, and we had a spot right next to the stage on the far right. They launched right into Wake Up Your Heart, with Kenn looking hot as usual, and Karl sporting a new hairstyle yet again. Every time I see him it's different, lol! I suppose that's how it goes in the music biz, ne? They did a great job, and the crowd was excellent! A lot of people stopped to watch or were already around. After the song, the emcee, this really bouncy girl, had an "iro iro hanase" ("conversation about various things") with the boys. They were really funny, with Kenn and Karl both doing a lot of talking. Kippy and Rasta weren't as talkative, but really, Kippy is always like that at the lives at least. Kenn first asked us how many people were seeing the NaB's for the first time, and I think out of several hundred people only 3 or 4 raised their hands.. o.o He then asked how many people had seen the NaB's before, and most of them raised their hands. Well, the fans were definitely out in force on Saturday! ^-^ The NaB's have great fans.. I've only had good experiences where these boys are concerned! =D After that, they basically talked a little bit about Yu-Gi-Oh, Kenn also did several impressions of his character for the fans, and asked how many people in the audience were fans of the show. He was surprised that there were so many! (I'm not.........) After this, the Emcee read off a few questions that she'd collected from the audience before the show, most of which were random things like "can you talk like your character please?" or "what food do you like?" I can't remmeber the answers to them. ^^;; But one of them, one I'm surprised that they let get through the screening process, was "Why is it that the band's name is The NaB's, but today you're called Kenn with the NaB's?" Kenn seemed surprised by the question, and honestly, I was too. That's really REALLY rude to ask, don't you think?! I mean, not to mention that it's pretty obvious... they want to draw in more people, and Kenn's name is the one that's drawing in more fans right now, ne? Karl stole the mic from Kenn, and he answered that it was because Kenn is in the show and they wanted to tie together the band with Kenn's name, since otherwise the audience might not know that he was a part of it. After the questions, everyone said a short goodbye message to fans, most of which were things like, "Thank you for coming" and "Please support us in the future!". Kenn included another Yu-Gi-Oh character impersonation, complete with a pose, and they left the stage. The whole thing, song included, was only about 20 minutes long.

We thought about going to see the band after this, but didn't really get a chance to. Instead, we hung around in the area around the booth for a while, since in about an hour the Tenimyu event with Shirota, Yanagi, and Kazuki was scheduled to start. The MMV booth was playing a lot of really interesting videos on the screen, including clips from Hyoutei myu and Dream Live 2nd, as well as clips from the HxH Greed Island Final OAVs and the best of all---- previews of the Tenipuri live action movie!!! Mmmm it looks like it'll be a lot of fun..!! As a japanese friend told me, "tanoshimi ni shite kudasai!", or "look forward to it!"

Well, after a while it was time for the Tenimyu event!! Booyeah!! <----- *shows oh-so-American roots there*

The emcee announced Shirota, Yanagi, and Kazuki, and this is when I noticed that the crowd had nearly doubled in size! I mean, it was HUGE!!! We were still pretty much in our same places to the right of the stage, with what seemed to be a lot of surprise from Kazuki, lol. They were all dressed in their team Jerseys (Seigaku and Hyoutei), and jeans! LOL, the combination seemed really natural for them, XD. Yanagi likes baggy jeans I guess. And Kazuki was wearing pointy shoes (Why is this hideous fashion popular in Japan?) whie the other two had on sneakers. Kazuki didn't have his wig on, thank god, but he had his own hair (dyed a nice brown), all curled up at the ends to look like Atobe's... and my god, I wonder if my heart stopped for a moment. Because, DAMN, the guy is HOT. Hot hot HOT. Again, it was time for "iro iro hanase". XD The boys joked around a lot, and um, wow.... Yuu used a LOT of english. His english was better than Yanagi's, which seems strange since I know Yanagi can speak fluent english and has perfect pronunciation. LOL dork. The english was really random.... but do you think that I'm wrong to say that it's because he saw us there and likes to play up to that? I think maybe they find that funny, just like Nagayan seems to. I guess I could be wrong, but I really think that's the case, because they never do that on their radio show or any other kind of event where we're not really really noticeable.

So, in the beginning of the talk, it was mostly free talk, and the boys talking about the upcoming musical. They made a LOT of jokes with each other, and some clips from Hyoutei myu were shown on the stage, much to Kazuki's dismay. He tried to cover up the screen (twice as tall as him) with his body when a close-up of his face in the muical appeared, and told us all not to look because it was embarrassing to be so big! But Yanagi and Shirota both thought that his Atobe was kakkoi. After a few minutes of this it was time for them to answer the questions that had been collected earlier. One person asked them to say a message to each other in character, and Kazuki stepped off to the side, turned to face Tezuka from across the stage, and said in a very croony voice, "Aishiteru yo, Tezuka". ("I love you, Tezuka") The squealing from the fans was SO LOUD it was almost deafening, but damn... they know what sells! (Ato-Tez fans rejoice, ne? I'm not a fan of that pairing, but it was hot nonetheless.. XD) I don't remember the other two's messages, actually, after that. ^^;; The next question was if they would each sing a song. Yuu almost immediately tried to sing something, but Kazuki cut in with "Ore-sama no Bigi ni Boogie-woogie" and stole the stage. LOL After that, Yanagi and Shirota started to ignore Kazuki, and when Kazuki got annoyed by it, he walked up to confront Tezuka. But Yanagi shoved him away and glomped Shirota, very very much like he did in Hyoutei myu's curtain call. XD More screaming from fangirls (and boys? Well.... actually I don't know that there were any boys in the audience..). ^^;

Next were questions like "What's your favorite line for your character?" Kazuki's was of course "Ore-sama no bigi yoi na" and he launched into a short version of the song all on his own, including the little twirl at the end. XD I can't remember Yanagi's, but it was a very standard Ryoma line. Shirota joked that his was "Ore-sama no bigi ni..." but applied to Tezuka, but then admitted that it was actually "Ahhhh, Tezuka-buchou is here!!" (He said it in Japanese, but I can't remember the exact line. It was Kachiro's line from Bukimyu, I believe). He even said it in this high voice imitating Kachiro's, lol!!

Then Kazuki got asked what kind of cooking he liked to do. LOL He seemed confused by the question, but admitted that he likes to make things with eggs in them. Which launched Yuu into explaining to the audience really randomly that Tamago was spelled "T-A-M-A-G-O"... Um, okay.. LOL Thank you for the english spelling lesson. XDXD There were a few other questions, and for some reason, Yanagi and Kazuki had an unannounced competition to kiss the audience the most times, it seemed. They both kept blowing kisses to the audience to get applause, lol. OH!!! And everyone was asked to say something sexy. LOL I wonder which fan asked that.. XDXDXD Kazuki and Yuu pulled it off perfectly, but Yanagi.... ^_^; Well, Yanagi is CUTE, but I don't know if sexy really applies to him. He's cute like a girl or a little boy.. I think that he's one of the most adorable boys that I've EVER seen, but well.. not really sexy. Lol, sorry, Yanagi. ^_^;; He was really really cute though, lol!!

Eventually it was over. It was only about 20 minutes long also, and after the boys, the emcee stayed on stage to announce a few things......... namely that winter's Hyoutei myu will be put onto DVD in March!!! It will feature backstage clips from the summer performance and come with special prizes!! :O So THAT'S WHY they didn't put backstage clips onto the summer Hyoutei myu DVD!! They gave us a preview of some of the backstage footage, and it was REALLY CUTE! Everyone's so funny backstage!

The JUMP Festa main stage

After this, we mostly just walked around the hall and checked out the other booths. I totally forgot to come back for the Marvelous Radio Vibration live broadcast with Yanagi and Yuu. ^^;; But it's okay.. I had more fun finding the Bandai Tenipuri booth and taking pictures with the "lifesize" team members painted on the side! =D Also found out that earlier in the day, I'd walked past a GIANT blow-up chibi Ryoma! XDXDXD As well as a Tennis Court thing that tested your speed at serves (but it was for kids so I didn't try..), and a booth filled with cardboard stand-ups of Bleach characters. XD I took pictures with Mori-Eiji's character because it was right in front, and right at the height to get a comical picture out of it. XDXD

Tired already even though it couldn't have been past noon or one, I plopped down next to a CUTE Ryoma cosplayer on a bench across from the giant blow-up Ryoma. No problems there with my choice in seat!!! Oooooh no~!! =D I love cute Ryomas!! ^-^ I totally missed that she was a foreigner until she talked to me, though!!! With an "Excuse me... but are you Hinoai from livejournal?" I was really surprised!!! My first thought then was that she was one of the people that I'd been looking for and expecting to see (though I never did see either of them) But it was mikaikitsune!! I really, REALLY liked her! So cute!!! ^__^ We hung out for a little while, and with the others, went to watch the second NaB's performance that day before parting ways. After that, we said a really quick hello to the members after they left the stage (Kenn, you are SO amusing!), and had to rush out of the hall to get back to the station and into Tokyo to go to Nagayan's Xmas party!!

Edit: I totally forgot to add something! (I was tired...) During the NaB's second performance, we happened to accidentally stand next to a certain trio of boys! LOL Well, a little behind them, but it was a bit surprising!! I still think Kazuki is really hot, and damn, Yanagi is so genki. XD He was yelling and pumping his fists as much as the girls, it was really cute to see him all excited for his friend. ^-^ Couldn't really say anything to them, because I don't think they noticed us and it wasn't really the place when they were being guarded so heavily. LOL

I love you, cute little Ryoma!
Hahahaaaaaa little tiny Atobe.. really!!

Ostukaresama JUMP Festa day 1!!

Wow, this is SO LONG all ready! I'll continue tomorrow in another post... and tomorrow (later today, technically) is Tenimyu! Yay!!!!!!! *excited* Tanoshimi ni! ^^

XDD I love the pictures!

...Did anybody get an extra photo set at Nagayan's event? I totally forgot to ask for one :(((((((((((

as for tenimyu, there's no info on the site yet. So for now I guess can you get me the program, the photo sets, and Kazuki and Shirota's CDs? If the CDs will be in stores, then I can just get them at animate when I get to Japan, though.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on December 19th, 2005 11:43 pm (UTC)
Silly dear girl. ^-^ I picked you up both of his photosets as part of my Xmas present to you. ^__^ He had a little photo binder thing too, but I didn't have enough money for that too (Spent too much at JUMP ^^;;;;). But I think they'll sell that at later events, or definitely on the site. The photos this time are BIG! They're too big to fit in the regular binders! :O (They're postcard-sized!)

There's info on the site... this time the extra is Postcards!!!!!!!! :O They're SO GORGEOUS on the site!!! AND OMG The sample of Kazuki's picture......... *drool* *drool x 500* Nomg....... Go look, it's in the Q&A section!! Of course I'll pick you up a full run of everything minus poster. ^.^ The CDs will be in Animate, of course, they've had the preorders up for a long time, so don't worry about that. ^.^ If there's anything extra that's exclusive to the musical that I think you'd like (like they give out posters for the CDs or something) then I'll pick you up those too. ^^ *loves*

LOL And I still haven't thought of what I need... I'll do it and email you tonight. ^^ (Well I DO need bras, but sadly I don't think those are something you could buy for me ^^;;;) I will probably ask for a few books or something. ^^

Nope, photography was strictly prohibited. I actually did take some pictures of the NaB's because I didn't know, until I was stopped by staff. From then on, I didn't take any pictures of the events, and the NaB's ones that I have I can't post them.
