Hiking up Mt. Takao
Last Thursday (The 3rd) was a holiday here in Japan, so my friends and I all had the day off! ^____^ So what did we do? Went hiking up Takao mountain!! It's a pretty famous place to go, and on a holiday like this it was PACKED. =D

It was amazing... what a GORGEOUS place!! In all honesty, I was feeling a bit sick still, but I am 100% glad that I went!! The clear mountain air made me feel almost 100% recovered!!!

And here we go, a picture diary of the day! ^__________________^ We took a chair lift most of the way up, finished on foot, and then came down on foot the whole way. ^^

Day trip to Mt. Takao:

On the train, there was a guy across from us who slept the entire 50 minute trip.. complete with a fountain of drool! ^^;; Can you see it?

Okay sorry, that was gross...
Right outside of the station, there was a HUGE map of the traditional trip! ^^

And there were also free pamphlets that you could put stamps on. Japanese people are crazy about stamps, I swear! =D

A really pretty bridge on the way....

To get up to the top, we took an AMAZING chair lift. It was gorgeous!!!! On the front of the ticket booth, they had this sign advertising an "original sticker" for the monkey park on the mountain. ^^

The pretty sign on top of the offices. ^^

Erin (ee970) and Eda (dilettantka) climbing the stairs to the chair lift. ^^

I just thought this sign was pretty. ^^

Please don't litter!! Well, it warns you to mind the wildlife and the environment. ^^

Below us there was a tram to the top, but we wanted to go the more scenic way. ^^

It was the weirdest thing.... right next to all this natural stuff, there was this old-fashioned phone (you can't see it well, sorry!). The conductor guy was talking on it for a while! O.o

On our way up the lift!!

Hehee.... it arrives soon. XDXD

On the trail the rest of the way up to the top, there were a lot of neat things, like temples, markers, etc. ^^

And near the top, a GORGEOUS view of the city below...

Hahahaaaaa, Japan has the most random and cutest signs!!!

Pimpin' it!

Aren't these lanterns just gorgeous???

I think these are some of the most beautiful pictures EVER.... uwaaa.....

Erin says cheese!!

These reliefs were so intricate. So gorgeous!!

And at the top, there was a gorgeous mini-village and temple. ♥

This building was particularily gorgeous!

I love this pictures. There were so many of the little statues. ♥

Look at his nipples! XDXD This is an old traditional god of some sort.

The last stop was.. the monkey park!!! XDXD It was really cute!!!

On the other side of the enclosure, there was a gorgeous view..... I had to snap a few pictures.

Exposed for the sky:

The trees are changing colors ^_________________^

I feel a lot better now. ^_______^ And it's the weekend, so YAY!!!! Tonight I'm going to dedicate to finishing up a really cool art project for my dear dear Elvy, and then tomorrow is going to be murder, frustration, and fun!! ^^;; I think. I'll be getting Tenimyu tickets (or trying! ^^;;;), going to the Ryoma-doujinshi event, and then on to the JUMP store. All with yume_no_koe coming along! It should be interesting! I hope Tenimyu doesn't frustrate me so much that I start crying again! ^^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; -_-;;

Uwaaaa~ Good luck for the tickets...

The monkeys! The monkeys! So cute... How far away is this place from Tokyo?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on November 5th, 2005 11:20 am (UTC)
It was about a 50 minute train ride from Tokyo. ^^ There is a direct express so there was hardly any stops. ^^

Gogerous pictures. I wish I could go hiking, I never went hiking before. XD Maybe I'll go hiking once I go to DC.
I just love the culture and environment there; so very peaceful. Mai wants to go.

Wo~w that looks so nice :D I can see why it was so crowded!
Monkey park XD;; I guess that's a plus for all the children who are dragged on a hiking trip by their parents >__o
Beautiful pictures, thank you!

Wow, that's gorgeous! I'll have to add that to my long list of stuff to do when I have money to go to Japan for a few weeks.

Instead of taking the tram or the lifts can you hike up it?
Saeriskippytoad on November 5th, 2005 03:53 pm (UTC)
I'm guessing there are probably trails up the mountain as well; at least there were for Mount Rokko near Kobe when I was visiting a friend there. But I don't know how much bigger Takao-san is than Rokko-san...
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on November 5th, 2005 09:45 pm (UTC)
Yep, you can hike it, but it's LONG and STEEP!! We hiked all the way down. But even if you take the lift or tram, there's still another hour of hiking before you reach the top, so don't worry. ^^
Saeriskippytoad on November 5th, 2005 03:51 pm (UTC)
Oh wow, those are some great pictures! I love hiking, and am firmly convinced that it cures many ills. *hugs* Feel better!
taishitaishi on November 5th, 2005 07:23 pm (UTC)
This was added to my list of things to do on my next trip to Japan.

Will you still be in Japan 2009?

I hope so ^_^.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on November 5th, 2005 09:53 pm (UTC)
Yep!!! And I'll have a house by then for sure! ^__________^

Omegalildevilyouko on November 5th, 2005 08:02 pm (UTC)
The mountain is so pretty~! ^-^
I wish I was able to go. The monkeys are so adorable.
This sounds a bit weird but I think that's the same guy I saw on the train back to Shinjuku, o_o and he was doing the same thing. He was sleeping and there were droplets of drool dropping from his mouth.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on November 5th, 2005 09:54 pm (UTC)
Isn't it so disgusting??? X_x What's funny though is that he slept the ENTIRE trip. All the way to the end of the line, which is where Mt. Takao is. And when everyone got off, he was still sleeping on the train. ^^;;
Omegalildevilyouko on November 6th, 2005 12:45 pm (UTC)
XD Wow. I guess nothing can disturb his sleep.
How long was the train ride?

So cool! ^^ I really enjoy looking at your pics. But you're not in them this time, Hi-san. ^^;;
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on November 11th, 2005 03:12 pm (UTC)
I'm sorry! ;_; I know, but they were all taken by me, so it was hard to have me in them.

I'm still waiting on getting copies of Erin. ^^ I know I'm in a few of them! ^^
