Recently.. job, pictures, etc....
LOL well I just noticed something about the toilets in my new house today. It's a common thing with japanese western-style toilets but I'd neglected to think much about it. Maybe it's because I can read the kanji now... On a japanese toilet, usually you can turn the handle two ways. For what, I didn't know........ except that I noticed tonight that one way reads "big" and the other "small"... so in other words, for big and small loads. XD;;;;; Don't know why that amuses me so much. See the picture under the cut. XD;

I saw this ad for mascara on the train the other day and the engrish is so lovely. ♥

And this one on the side of a pharmacy in Shinjuku.. XD

I'm loving my new job. It's tiring, or it's just me adjusting to so many changes at once, but I still love it. It's fun to play with the kids, and they're all SO ADORABLE! (and um..... 6th grade boys love climbing all over each other and swatting each other on the butt and then shouting "hentai!!" or changing my english words into "sukebe" (pervert, lecher) during the telephone game.. XD Too amusing!). I nearly got myself mauled today playing a 'touch the color' game with 1st graders and the special ed kids. XD;;;;; I was wearing a pink shirt, and I said "okay, touch pink....... GO!" I think the entire 2 combined classes headed for me and grabbed onto my shirt! XD;;;;;;;; Too cute! But I was being mobbed and one teacher was filming it. XD;;;; Just wait, it'll appear on a school website one day. ^_^;; They did it when I said "touch brown" too, since I was wearing brown pants.. XD;;

School lunches = good! I like them so far! It's been really hard communicating with the students, but they seem to like me since they try really really hard. Tomorrow I'm in a new school, and I don't think that I'll be back to Dai-ni Ojima for a few weeks. Sad. T__T But it should be interesting! The rest of this week should be a bit longer since I have japanese classes starting up again on Thursday night and an inter-school teacher's meeting on Friday afternoon.... oooo.....

Japanese toilets amuse me..... this is from a western-style one.

And here is a picture of a japanese style toilet. It's scary and every bit as strange as it looks. I don't get it no matter how many times it's explained to me. It's just UNCOMFORTABLE and MESSY!!! (I've never been in one that DIDN'T have pee all over the floor around it, or something watery....)

This is the hall where Dream Live 2 took place.. And a LOT of fans leaving after the last show... Ahhh, memories! Wait, it was less than a week ago and I already feel nostalgic... ^^;;

Here is the hall leading to my new room:

Here's what my room looks like RIGHT NOW..... I haven't even moved in half of my stuff. ^^;;;; omg.

Tokyo Dome amusement park, where the Shonen Jump shop is. ^__^

Speaking of which, some shots of the shop itself! ^__^

Mmm, returning to 'real life' is hard, instead of the wonderful vacation I just had. I can't wait for the next one!!!!! :O

The toilet handles are weird. o_O I kept on pulling it to the small one all the time, took me a while to adjust to the way Japanese toilets handles were. xD

Tokyo dome is the coolest of the parks other than Spaland. ^_^ I'm dying to get over there, ride that hubless ferris wheel, and take a spin on Thunder Dolphin!

Can we tell I'm a coaster junkie? ^_~
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on May 10th, 2005 12:13 pm (UTC)
I'm such a coaster junkie too XD
Hehee!!! They're worth a ride once, though I wasn't too impressed. ^^;; I like the rides at 6 flags Magic Mountain in California a lot better! ^^;; But I prefer coasters that go SUPERFAST! ^^ But they were still fun! <3

Japanese-style toilets are so not my friend. I refuse to squat! I AM NOT OUTDOORS. >< I am pampered.
so many places only had, like, one western style one so we all had to wait and take turns going ^^;;;

I don't understand how anyone can use the Japanese style ones on the Shikansen. wtfbatman?

pictures!!! I see a Kimeru shirt!

Re the Japanese toilet: the watery stuff around may be water people use to 'wash up'. *cough* I hope. We have the same squatting toilets over here too, and I hate those... I can't understand how people prefer to use them either. >_<;;

your kids sound cute too. Hahaha. Have fun at the job!

ah, yess. the way u see boys interact with each other in J-schools, is just surprising. You think they'd grow out of it, but no it continues on to jr. high to sr. high. On tv and stuff..i thought it was all just fan service...but seeing the behavior in schools here I see its a reality here.:p
I have my first Elem.S. since they break tomorrow. It should be fun and I should be thoroughly worn out after Im done teaching. But at least I have half day!

Those toilets are SO gross. They're not just Japanese style, though, there're tons of them in China too >_>; The entire time that I was there during last summer, I absolutely refused to go in one of those things XD Who in their right mind would? They're filthy, they smelled, and the toilet paper's always gone because people steal it all x_x; Or maybe I've just been spoiled by Western-style toilets XD;
