domain names??
Yatta! ^__^

So, I finally got my bank account working! And this means that I can do what I've been wanting to do for a LONG time-- get my own domain!! Yatta!! =^__^=

Can anyone help me out and suggest domain names??
I don't know what to pick!!

Possible choices included
hinoai.com
geneiryodan.net
........
I don't know what else. I don't really like hinoai.com (don't know why!), and while I adore the other one, I want something that can really be for whatever I want, not just hxh.

Does anyone have any suggestions? *braindead*

Just think of something interesting that's not too specific, and look for synonyms or older forms to come up with something more original. --Telesm is an older form of talisman, for example. Of course, it turns out it's also the name of a city in Iran, but, well, what can you do?

Be careful though, despite what people have already posted, both ICANN and the courts can and have taken away domain names from people that are similar to company names or are company names where the business who first owned the domain had been around longer than the company that took it. And unfortunately the burden would fall on you to prove that you weren't trying to infringe on their name or trademark. There's a specific case where something like that happened. And ICANN unfortuantely isn't a community system anymore. They've basically gone corporate, and their policies benefit large businesses more than individuals.

Microsoft backed off on the mikerowesoft case due to the publicity it garnered. --If it hadn't made national news in both the US and Canada (and probably other countries as well), you can bet that Microsoft would have continued the fight. As it is, they still ended up taking over the site, and the deal they struck was far less than the legal fees to actually go through with the case.

But now that one case is going to bug me until I can think of the name...
