Japanese engrish students v. II
Today at school it was the time of weirdness... At least my first class, which had three students in it, one of whose name was Fukuyo. Of course, my mind is starting to laugh, but I wasn't going to say anything. It turns out that I didn't have to, because she followed up her introduction by saying that she has to change her name when she goes travelling in America because , quote, "my name sounds like... well.." *whispers* "American cuss word." I cracked a smile, thinking of that scene from Austin powers 3. I didn't need to bring it up, because one of the other students brought it up right then! ^_^;;;; It was interesting, and we all had a good laugh. XD Me more than the others, I think. ^^;;

These three students (level 4) could also decidedly not pronounce "clerk." When the first student tried to repeat it, she went on her own going "creeearky clooook, craaark" along with every other possible combination of the vowels. ^^;; By this point I couldn't help it and laughed hard. It was really funny. I told her she was my favorite student because she made me laugh. ^^ I needed that today after my morning at home (more about that some other time). Then the other two students tried to pronounce clerk with similar results, and we all kept laughing. It was hard not to. XDD They did eventually get a reasonably decent pronunciation of the word though. Later on one of my students also told me that I was a good teacher.. I wonder if people could just sense the tension in me today and that's why they did it. Either way, it was amusing. Though by the end of the day, I was dead tired. ^.^;; I am sooo looking forward to Halloween night, an allnighter in Roppongi. I'm going to be dead going into work the next day, but it should be fun either way. ^^

My last student of the day also asked me for advice on what to name her store she's opening in a month-- "roco-heart" or "loco-heart". I told her what loco means in spanish and why it was a bad choice. XDD I like roco-heart better anyway. It's a really cute name.

My 'weekend' was awesome too, and I have lots to tell. However, it's time for me to catch some sleep, since I have an early shift tomorrow. ^^ I have Hilary Duff stuck in my head-- is that a good thing? And art, I am sooo stuck. Trying my hardest to work through it but it seems to be an uphill battle.. *sighs*
