Crazy crazy Ikeburo!
It really is crazy over there!! XD *bounces* But today, even though I was dead tired getting home, has been my favorite day so far... why? Because Animate rocks my world!!!!!! <3 They have a whole floor (out of 7 or 8) dedicated to Boy's Love! I nearly died in heaven.. so did about 3253406736095724 squealing fangirls that invaded the store at roughly the same time. XDD Oh wow, Japanese fangirls put us american ones to shame. Especially this one girl on the ground floor that was REALLY squealing over a poster with some guy on it (singer? I dunno). It was soooooooo cute! I was in heaven. ^_____^ I found a ton of PoT stuff, including the mousepads that you'd wanted before, Alsie! ^^ They're 400 yen each... or were they 800 yen each? I can't remember. O_o I got a few presents there, still looking for some for other people. I'm kind of dreading the post office though. ^.^;;

Mmmm.. more observations about Japan.....

-Humidity sucks (okay I said that last time)
-At most supermarkets, when you check out, you don't bag your own things.. you take them to a separate place and bag them. O_o
-There is almost none of our favorite sodas from America. I've only seen Coke, and Pepsi Twist. Most japanese soda is clear and varying tastes. And there is no 2-liter bottles of soda ANYWHERE. I found 1-liter bottles of coke finally, but they were freakin' 300 yen! O_O
-I was seriously surprised at this one-- anime is hard to find here... at least anime-related things. You'll find little things here and there, but my only real exposure was at Animate today. Oh man, but the store is a mecca.. I'm in looooooove.
-"Boys love" (in english) is big here with the female anime crowd. I knew this, but it wasn't so obvious until now.
-I spent 1500 yen in a UFO catcher machine trying to get a Prince of Tennis doll out of it, with no success.. T_T I'm sad. I wanted that Eiji! They also had PoT teacup sets and coin purses in different machines!!!!!!!!! <3 I wanted them all, and got none. T_T These arcades are dangerous for my pocketbook.
-Disney is BIG with the schoolgirls. I saw a Disney store in Shinjuku yesterday, and I'd say that 75% of the schoolgirls I've seen with bookbags have had some kind of Disney character attached to it somehow.
-Heheee, even the businessmen read manga on the trains, and practically every kind of store having magazines or books carries some form of manga.
-Duuude.. the walls here are thin. With my windows closed, it's so loud that I keep thinking that they're still open. O_o
-The japanese seem to be immune to the sun. They don't wear sunglasses, except the select few. O_o
-Kimonos, business suits, school uniforms, guys that look like girls, all standing next to each other. It's rather common. Wow.
-I bought too much stuff.. bad me. =P I can't find wallscrolls anywhere, either.
-The sun rises very early and sets very early. It's usually dark by 5.
-Stores close too early. It seems the average time for a store to close is 7 or 8. Except grocery stores. Most of those are open 24 hours.
-Bikes, they're EVERYWHERE! Little kids, couples, teens with short skirts, businessmen in suits, they all ride them! ^^;
-Vending machines are EVERYWHERE.. even on the tiny streets.

There's not too many this time either, but it's all stuff from today's excursion to Ikeburo.

This is the street out the back of my house. To the back of me and right is that Kids car dealership. ^^ The mural on the wall is because of the preschool there. ^^

The mural is too adorable! ^^

More of my street, it goes along the canal. It's calm and quiet there, and although cars are allowed there, not very many drive there. Now bikes, on the other hand.. O_o..

Ahead on the left past the bikes is the local train station. That's where I go if I want to go anywhere!

And the station up close. Yeah... the fare map here is ALL in kanji, so I have to match the symbols to the map that I have to know how much to pay. (You can't see the map in this pic. I'll take a pic sometime though)

I took this pic because apparently you can buy tweetie bird coffee in this vending machine. O-o

This is Ikeburo, right outside of the station. Note the Nova building in the corner. I work for them.. starting tomorrow.. (not that office, though, I don't think But they're EVERYWHERE. NOVA is plastered all over signs and buildings all over)

Heh... a taste of home? Not if you look at their menu. O_o They have strange looking burgers.... O_o Note the advertisement with a witch flying past a moon. I have no idea what kind of burger that is.. a halloween burger?

More home.. I should have gone in to see what they had for flavors.. but I sitll haven't worked up the courage to go into a food place and attempt ordering.

Lotsa people... Lots and lots of people. Everyone walks here. I’m sure I’ve lost some weight too.

*snerk* I love how that cafe is so upfront about their name.. they serve coffee.. XD

Sanrio... stangely enough, that’s the first Sanrio store that I’ve seen.

There was some kind of festival in the street and I thought this was pretty. ^__^

Heheee... advertisements for this movie are ALL OVER. It must be doing better here than in America.

And seriously, I never thought I’d see an advertisement for this movie. ^^;;;

Another street, this one not so busy..

This is what all of the vending machines look like, though the color varies. It’s odd to me..

More movies.. I wanna see the one on the right, but it’s a sequel to something. I’ll have to see if I can download the first one if I can remember the name.

This is a pretty, verybusy, times-squareish thing. ^_^;; I love my descriptions...

And finally, last but not least, my attempt at catching a picture of cute girls in cute uniforms didn’t work. ^^;; but I didn’t want to be obvious about it.. at least I have their legs! XD I feel like a dirty old man or something! XD Their uniforms were from a junior high, which I only know because they had the word “gakuen” on the crest on the back, and I only recognize THAT from Prince of Tennis. XP See, anime’s good for something! ^__^

Oh, and it’s interesting how girls from all different schools hang out together a lot. ^_^

You can get 2-liters in the grocery store, or at most convenience stores, but they will just have a few kinds.

You can find some other kinds of cokes in vending machines, though. (Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, and "Coke Lite" or whatever they call Diet Coke)
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 19th, 2004 05:48 pm (UTC)
I haven't seen those kinds yet, and the grocery store that I went to last night didn't have 2-liters.. T__T I guess I'll have to keep looking!! ^__^

LMAO! I know that corner. And I've been to that Animate too. Gotta love 8 floors of pure anime. Head down the street a little, to the right if you are facing the front of the store. Look for K-Books and go to the second floor. Tons of doujinshi there. It's my own little Mecca too.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on September 19th, 2004 05:47 pm (UTC)
Ooooooh, really??!!! <3<3 I'm sooooooo heading there next!

~~~You'd best be having loads of fun!
