Tokyo Tower is dark...
According to my user info page, I've received 49,951 comments. I want to celebrate reaching 50,000!!!!

The 49th comment received ON THIS POST will receive a postcard in the mail from me! (I'm holding back replying until the counter reaches past 49.. I will reply after that! So feel free to strike up conversations!) What will be on it? You'll just have to wait and seeeeeee~~! ^o^/ (assuming that you will consent to give me your mailing address! ^^)

In other news, Tokyo Tower is dark these days.. but don't worry! It's only because the city is trying to save energy. The 6 nuclear reactors in Fukushima that are no longer working (no danger to us, though!) supplied a lot of eastern Japan's power, and without them there is the possibility of shortages and blackouts. (Though to be honest, I think that if only all of the pachinko parlors would shut down voluntarily, there would be no concern.)

But anyways.. thanks Tokyo Tower! It was eerie to pass through Roppongi and not see it all lit-up though.

Well!!! I kinda sorta have some big news! But I can't say anything yet!!! It might be a while, but I will say things when I can. Sorry for the vagueness! *^-^* Let's just say that as I vowed to myself, things this year are slowly, but steadily changing *^^* Things that I can tell you about though, are: I am sloooooowly toning up my body. I'm becomign more flexible, too. At times it is frustrating and I do have setbacks, but I am progressing! I'm very proud of myself! Although I probably won't say too much, since I am already a skinny girl (through a lot of hard work too..) and it seems to upset people. So I suppose I will curb the boasting as much as possible... ^^;;;;;;;;;

I am also slowly but steadily improving my japanese ability! I am not so good at languages, but becoming as fluent as a native speaker is my goal, so I refuse to give up! I'm sure that it will be a number of years, but I wouldn't complain if it came earlier than that... :) (I suppose this is a bit of a pipe dream ^o^;;)

I was planning to volunteer in Ishinomaki (a place very hard-hit by the tsunami), but I attended an information meeting and decided to reevaluate and look into going during the summer instead. There are a lot of reasons for this, including work and other factors. But in the meantime, I am going to a Tokyo-based volunteer information session on Sunday night, and so hopefully will be able to participate in Tokyo volunteer efforts soon! ^^

A little bit more meme...
Day 01: 10 things about you
Day 02: 10 things you love
Day 03: 10 things you hate
Day 04: 10 things you want to say to one person
Day 05: 10 wishes
Day 06: 10 items you can’t live without

Day 07: 10 important people
Read more...Collapse )

So.. to fuel discussion and get those comments up, I have a few things to say:

Here is a funny picture of a perverted tree that I took today, here is a picture I took in the same area the day before, and here is a tiny doodle of myself that I drew the other day.

I am also wondering, does anyone have a kindle? I'm looking for opinions on your experience with it, both the good and bad! I'm considering getting one, just for novels. I just realized that the kindle is not a touch-screen....... well, I am definitely not getting one then. Oops! Didn't even occur to me.

The beauty of the Kindle is the fact that it's not a touch-screen. It is much easier on the eyes (no glare). Downside is the fact that it is only b&w.
I use mine not only for ebooks, but for reading all the PDFs assigned in my program at university (it has saved me a fortune in printouts and photocopies). The battery lasts FOREVER, and I can easily read it outdoors or in.

Yes! The only thing that you really can't do with the Kindle is read in the dark but that's bad for your eyes anyway.

Battery lasts forever. With the Wi-fi turned off, about a month on one 4-hour charge. With Wi-fi on, about two weeks.

Oh wow, PDFs!!! That could be really, really useful!! Not just school stuff, but online novels, fanfic, and instruction manuals, things like that.. I never thought of that!

I haven't read fanfic in years. But I remember really liking a few of them way back when ^^

I wish I could volunteer in Japan. If I had the money, I'd spend the summer over there. I'm taking Japanese next semester, after studying it by myself for a few years. So maybe some day I'll be able to go over and do something...

They will still need help next summer, I hear. It's going to take years and years to rebuild, so if you want to save up and spend next summer up there I"m sure they would welcome the help!

Enjoy yourself while you can! I love that you are grabbing hold of your dreams! By the way, do you know any American teachers working in Japan?

*faceplant*

POSTCARD?! I always miss out on all the fun stuff ya post/comment on.

Perverted tree...so not what I thought about first! Haha!

I saw a guy standing (bend of the trees reminded me of knees lol) all casual (imagined him smoking a cigarette while reminiscing about the day he had). Yes, I do have... a strange imagination.

As for the big news, much luck with what you have in the works! ^___^
