Doesn't it look yummy?
It's hard to keep an upbeat attitude tonight.. I'll try, but I just was really disapointed in someone today and it really got me down. I should be out right now, enjoying the lovely weather and being young, but instead I ended up with cancelled plans and feeling down. I hate that, don't you? It's not anyone's fault but I still hate it. I will turn those feelings into something productive as soon as I post this stuff, though. There is always work hanging over my head these days, as well as OTHER things, so I guess now is better than another time, right?

But *sigh*.

Ale and Ang did come over and we made Yakisoba for lunch, which was great! I love you guys ♥ It's friends that make the whole world go round, right? It really, really is. Without friends, I wouldn't be able to enjoy life like I do (And I do).

Btw, as per my body self-improvement goal this year, I've started doing yoga (almost) every day. I don't know why it took me this long, because after just a few days I feel such a difference in my body. It's all at home with a dvd, but I feel so much more energy and it's like my body can actually move. As if someone oiled my joints. Where has yoga been all my life? Or rather, why wasn't I listening?

Of course, maybe the change also has to do with the weather not being freezing the last few days. Spring, have you really come? Please never go away! But I do want to think that it's the yoga.

This was last week:

I NEVER want to see snow again. This week it was in the mid-upper 50s, and if it goes down I will commit seppuku!! Please, please get warmer soon! ToT

I went to a vegetarian place in Nakano (will get the info later) and had the greenest curry I've ever soon... but omg was it DELICIOUS ♥

Discovering Shimokitazawa a few nights ago, I happened upon a GORGEOUS little hawaiian restaurant. I almost didnt't ask, but I am so glad I did because they have a non-smoking section!!!!!!!!! A real one! And banana juice... This is sure to become one of my favorite places <3

(TMI alert)
Just random, but they only have one brand of tampons in Japan. (but a gazillion brands of pads.. yes, this is ladies stuff!) But wtf, one brand?! They are not even that good, but there just is no other choice. I just don't like pads, they are so gross... sorry you guys for the tmi, but I fully, fully support tampons.. ^^;; To each their own, though. I mean, apparently most japanese ladies, despite their penchants for wearing skirts that show off their panties, like to wear pads after all. ANYWAYS, they repackaged the tampons recently with this label proclaiming that you don't have to worry, these are great for use in pools, the ocean, on vacation, and IN THE ONSEN. Errr................. ONSEN?! Granted, I woiuldnn't want ladies bleeding in a communal bath, but neither would I want to see one walking by with a white string hanging between her legs. Bad mental image (sorry, guys!)

Anyways, yeah, wtf. I assumed that it was common courtesy to stay out of the onsen while bleeding. But the japanese version of CC is often different from mine... x.x....

By the way, in the drugstore, the feminine hygeine products were right next to the choolate. Coincidence I think not!

To continue the same line of thought..a toilet that I went to the other day had instructions for how to flush..

and better, how to wash your (buttocks). WTF Japan? (Maybe it's just me, but the idea of using a bidet in a public toilet is VERY unsanitary... x.x;;;;;

The yakisoba that we made yesterday (on my living room floor, lol)

Lovely lady Ale(_miyuchan_)

And lovelyt lady 2 Angela (angelamori)!

Randomly happened upon a delicious avant-garde (kind of like what I would come up with, but less options) taiyaki place in Shibuya... Look at those great flavors!! I had caramel-almond... mmmmmm. Of course there was a long line, proving yet again that Japan needs more of this. REALLY.

Gini, my resident spicy-food partner-in-crime (we actually got together that day, with Kira, to check out a place known for it's spicy food. The food was great but I will not recommend it until non-smoking laws are put into effect here. When that happens, expect me to go back and actually enjoy it!)

And by the way, I want to be in love. Romantic, passionate love, not the friendly kind. You know what I mean? I didn't make it a goal this year, but I do want it,w ith all my heart.

..don't they have O.B or tampax there?!!!
only one brand of tampons??? this news are really shocking....but let's face it food is more important...and what you cooked looks nice...

I wanted to ask you...this green in your soup was it because of curry or because or nuclear radiation?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 24th, 2010 01:25 pm (UTC)
It was spinach curry, that's why it was green =D

And yeah, I've only ever seen the one brand. They have it everywhere, but just one brand! They're really expensive, too. But they have TONS of kinds of pads. It's so weird. I don't get it at all.
Kira_Shadowkira_shadow on February 24th, 2010 01:38 pm (UTC)
the hawaiian place sounds awesometastic!
:D
no smoke ftw!!

mmhhh yakisoba =v= *mjam*

the curry dog was funny...but I still think japanese sausages are kind of fail ^^; but then again I am from sausage-country so... yep

so glad my picture isn't up here XD I'm zero photogenic and I guess the face I made turned out too weird, too XD

I had so much fun with you that night ♥
please keep me updated on your free-time plans! I always enjoy spending time with you!! (my mama is sending me spices from home so I can cook vietnamese food! yay~ how long has that promise been made now? I really NEED to make good on it!!) :D
money shouldn't be an issue again because my study-grant has just arrived in my account *whee*

oh no tampons in the onsen -shudders- it's terrible!
the ladies products aisle always amuses me, the drugstores nearby my home have various pads unfolded and hooked on a chain so you can compare sizes and what not.

all that food looks awesome though! i want to try those taiyaki next time i'm in tokyo~ they look so good!

i wanted to ask, what yoga dvd are you using? it sounds like a good investment, i have felt so stiff lately. i'm always skeptical of videos though, i never assume them to work.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 25th, 2010 12:03 am (UTC)
It's called "Yoga: Journey into Power (level 1)" To be honest, the guy's voice is REALLY annoying and he takes too long to count out sometimes, but it works better than the videos with soothing music for me.

The toilet pictures made me grin :D ... I actually think we*d need some instructions on how to flush toilets at school, since some people obviously have problems with that .___. ...

The food looks delicious, by the way (both the curry and what you made [Even though I am vegetarian ... ;^^;] :D) ...

I hope your wish will come true! I guess making it a goal might not work at all, so ... I think it will just happen to you ^^.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 25th, 2010 12:04 am (UTC)
The curry is vegetarian, and actually if we hadn't added meat ourselves, the yakisoba would have been vegetarian too! =D
petite_ranpetite_ran on February 24th, 2010 02:14 pm (UTC)
A first look I thought the curry was some atomic looking spinach. :)

Only one tampon brand? No way. I'm so freaked out over tampons, I only use O.B., after bad experience in great britain with another brand.

Wow, I expected some things but never that O_O thanks for the heads up! If I ever get that teaching job in Japan, I know what I'm packing...

That Yakisoba looks yummy! Care to share the recipe?
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 25th, 2010 12:05 am (UTC)
No recipe, it was just a package from the store that had noodles and sauce in it.

OMG I stayed in a hotel that had a public bath with some other students from my school. I was in a room with two other girls and one of them was on her period and the other told her don't worry, you can still go to the bath, the hot water keeps you from bleeding. I was like WHAT 0.0;;??? No way I would EVER go to a public bath or onsen during that time. The girl on her period also decided to just not go.

RE: Tampons

I could always send you some from over here. And wonder what the customs agents would think if they opened the box. :D;

That green curry looks pretty ;o;
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 25th, 2010 12:06 am (UTC)
Aww, thank you ^_^ But the tampons here work just fine. I don't love them, but I'm okay with using them. ^^

:') Yes.

Also, wtf, Japan. How to flush and wash your buttocks instructions.

Doesn't it look yummy?
so... about that chartreuse flamethrower... what? isn`t that what feminie protection is? (yosh, Bloom County)... so... amazon.com is your friend. guessing if you ordered a fair amount it would make the shipping worth it. Maybe one of your american friends would send a care package?

I thought for the onsen, that some of them are reputed to help femme issues...

elsewise I`ll have to wait till I get home to see the pictures... they don`t show on my phone mostly, but I do like the pictures you post a lot...

hang in there, it`s already thursday, yeah?

Re: Doesn't it look yummy?
Nah, I'm actually okay with the tampons. They're not the best, but they work alright and don't hurt or anything (they used to, but they've improved a lot).

And yeah it's Thursday. But I don't work the kind of job where days of the week would matter at all. x.x

Heh. I'm strictly a pads person, and people in the US find me strange for it, so I guess it's just the reverse! But I'm fond of squat toilets too over those crazy new computerized things, so YMMV. No sitting, no worries.

But... is that a flying pig logo on those pads? What is up with that?

Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on February 25th, 2010 12:07 am (UTC)
Haha, that is Japan for you!
