Okay, so.... Merry Christmas!!!!!
This post has been looooooooooooong overdue, I know! Somehow with work overwhelming me and unwinding from said work needing to be done, I just could never find the time to post on livejournal. I've been BUSY!! Really, really busy!! It might be hard to believe, but I've actually seen tons of friends and done a lot of interesting things when I could spare a bit of time! (Basically, this means that I have basically not been home, except the occasional night and rare early morning for the last two months!! o.o!)

However, from now until the end of the year............. FREEDOM!!!! Okay, I have various things planned here and there, and I need to do a ton of writing for both current and new writing jobs (which I LOVE!), but most important.... I need to work on my manga! (And my projects!!) The first step in my plan is to revamp my livejournal and move everything over to my new webspace (the old one is finally expiring. This will include the FAQ and a new layout among other things. WIP!). Second step is to make a new webpage! Third step is to get that webcomic set up! Fourth step (before the end of the year) is to finally finish the prints! Fifth step is to finish my prints v.1!! I am SO excited!!! I am also going to dig out and finish some other projects from the boonies. And I may have a New Years party, but not sure on that one yet.. Other projects (including make-apartment-awesome!! projects) exist as well, but they're just for whenever I can fit them in..

ANYWAYS!! I have been BUSY. Anybody want to see some pictures??

Belated pictures of a random trip to the Berry Cafe.... again.

This is a giant Christmas tree that was in the Ikebukuro Sunshine City mall. ^-^ I was there to go to the Gyoza stadium again, this time with a college friend that was visiting from the states. ^-^

I also saw THIS there............ ice cream with a raw egg on it! The salesgirl swore that it was delicious, but I couldn't bring myself to taste it.... yet!!

There was a One Piece promotion going on, in honor of the new movie that just came out.

Some interesting chocolate desserts that they had on sale in Namja town!

More tie-ins to the One Piece movie.

MACROSS train!!!! I hate trains, but I LOVE the outside of this one!!! This was a promotion for the new movie!

I love this picture of my gorgeous Sheryl <3

LOL, I saw this randomly in Ginza near Yurakucho station...... They are little squishable peaches that you can attach to your cell phone. Of course I got one! It feels just as delightful as the poster suggests!!

I can't remember the reason behind this dinner (I fail!), but I went to an izakaya with a few friends, and this is the proof that we are becoming japanese! I don't think we ever would have ordered this so gladly if we were fresh off the boat XD

I had to go to my modeling agency to pick up something, and the Dior building nearby was all red!! It looked really creepy XD

Christmas lights in Omote-sando.

At some point, a friend had this salad! I can't eat vinegar (so vile!), so I didn't have any.... but I do agree that salads should be made of onions! Onions and cheese!! Plus a few mushrooms =D

I found this so hilarious that I had to take a picture..... This girl got on the train with me, and sat down, and then immediately "fell asleep" with her mouth hanging open. Literally, she sat down, and her head flopped back with the mouth wide open. Just like that! This picture is seconds after we sat down across from each other!! How is this even possible??? If she was just faking (she had to be, right?!), wouldn't she NOT open her mouth? Not let drool slide out onto her neighbors? Isn't this rude? Anyways, she got straight up a few stations later and left the train, like she had never been "asleep". I just don't get it. Does anybody do this and can explain it to me? Lots of people seem to fake sleeping on the train, but never, ever with their mouths open. What is the point? And there is NO way that you can fall asleep just as you're sitting down. Not and get up a few minutes later like nothing happened. It was the strangest thing.. You can't really tell in the picture, but her mouth was so far open that I probably could have put my fist inside of it without hitting her teeth.

Stumbled upon this CUTE store in Shinjuku station randomly! They have so many cute things!! I bought a new wallet and a whisk there, but I SO wanted these canteens! But the store is really expensive, so I guess that I'll have to save up for one.

Random yummy deep-fried something. I can't remember what it was, lol!

Eda, Sarah, Miho, and me!! I had one day off from the studio in mid-December, so I went with my friends to catch Yasuka's latest play! I'm glad that this one was actually good! (honestly, the last few I saw I didn't care for. LOVED it this time tho! There were some great skits about an amateur dance troupe that would practice anywhere they could find a mirror, even in store dressing rooms. It reminded me of Lindsay XDXD) I laughed so hard!!! Said hi afterwards and us girls headed off to have a late dinner at a gorgeous korean restaurant!! I really want to go back, and I will when they pass non-smoking laws in Tokyo! (oh, the places that I will go when that happens!!)

JUMP FESTA!!!!

I don't really get why most of my gaijin friends don't go to JUMP Festa. It's the biggest anime event in the country, it's FULL of really interesting things, and it's free!! Sure it's way out in Makuhari Messe, but that is about the same distance from Tokyo (1 hr?) as Comicket, and it's way, WAY cooler. Plus, you don't have to pay to cosplay! We managed to finish our manga work in time for the Sunday shows, so I went with a few of my coworkers and one of my ex-coworkers to see Sensei's stage! I always love seeing Tenipuri events, because I can kind of see in double-vision.. I was a fan way before I was ever involved officially, so part of me is excited to hear announcements and see related people on stage (even though I knew them all ahead of time, it was still fun... I'm not sure how to explain this so that it makes sense..), and of course part of me is really happy to see other people excited about it! Sure, the manga is completely on crack, and it's not mine (though I sure put my all into it!), but I work hard on it, and I definitely feel as if I'm an important part of it these days. I do want to make my own debut (sooner rather than later, if possible!), but Sensei has been heaping praise on me, so I feel appreciated, and I also feel that I really am improving. It's the most satisfying job that I've ever had, insofar as the amount of self-satisfaction that it gives me. ^-^ I really, really understand what it would be like to work a job that you love, now (though I'm not quite there, I am on my way!).

Anyways, me and Maru-chan (another TK Works staff member) with our co-stars! XD

Outside of JUMP Festa, there were these huge posters..

And of course our contribution!!

Sorry that I didn't really take many JUMP Fest pictures! I was so busy enjoying the start of my vacation that I kind of forgot... Plus, I got to see Su-chan for the first time in FOREVER!!

On the way home, we stopped at IKEA, where I bought a CHEAP but cute kitchen table!! My first piece of furniture, yay! I also came home with this cutie <3 By the way, I have been grabbing up furniture recently with a little bit of my savings.. basically keeping an eye out when I was out for other things, and online! So coming soon is a couch (finally!) and a new bed! I also bought a tv after a meeting on Tuesday, since I was in Akihabara. YAY! It's a 32-inch all-HD flatscreen! It's SO awesome!! I have never owned a big tv before, and it was such a good deal... I'm so happy to have it! It's not that big, but it looks giant in my apartment. Next step is to make myself a tv stand so that it's not sitting on the side of an old bookcase! LOL I put my tiny old tv in the kitchen and painted it. It's the perfect size for the kitchen table =D But of course, now my bank account is starting to look pathetic, so I had to put the home-improvements on hold. (aside from DIY projects!)

On Wed, I had a meeting with Asahi weekly about next year's columns.... and it sounds like a lot of fun things are going to be coming up! I'm really excited!!!! I think that it will mean a lot of new things for me <3 Anyways, these beautiful murals were in the station.

And then Thursday, my first real day off in which I didn't have any meetings or work-related events, I hung out with a friend from high school who is visiting here in Japan! It was so great catching up!! We walked all over Shibuya, Harajuku, and Shinjuku. ^o^/ This is a random shot from the intersection near Meiji-jingu (a famous shinto shrine), which we walked through.

Sake barrels stacked ceremoniously inside the shrine.

And.. wine barrels, lol!

A rather well-known landmark in Shinjuku.

Train tracks ^^

THen yesterday.... was Christmas!! ^-----^ Yay! I went to a friend's party, and we had a blast. We also had real turkey!! (which is VERY rare in Japan....) I don't know why they don't eat turkey here, because it is so delicious..... why would anybody want chicken over turkey is beyond me! Anyways, we also had Wasabi Kit-kats! They were... well, I liked them! I might have been the only one XD

Eda made OMGSOYUMMY eggnog!

Adele and her turkey, yum!

Can you tell there is pumpkin pie on this plate?

By the way, those of us at the Christmas party all decided to adopt NOT sleeping with William Shatner (prompted by this lj post) as a New Years resolution. Wish us luck!!

And well... that's it! That brings me up to today, which I spent relaxing, accepting deliveries, and finally going out to find a tv stand (unsuccessful.. decided to build my own!), and meeting with Eda to make a vacation get-things-done gameplan!

Plan made, now time to put it into action! But first... sleep!!! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

That link is also full of rambling about my life these days... lol!

I still need suggestions for my FAQ! Anybody who wants to ask something, please head over here!

For me personally, the reason I sleep on trains is that I get really, really bad motion sickness, and the only thing that helps it is sleep. It's actually, (for me anyway) really hard for me to stay awake sometimes when I'm in a moving vehicle because the motionsickness is that bad, and it triggers me wanting to go to sleep. I can usually sleep on the trains and stuff, because I try my best not to sleep too heavily, and I make sure I put any excess stuff I own between my legs or something so I would be able to grab it quickly if someone tried to steal it..or I'd hold onto the handle or something. I never sleep with my mouth open though.. at least, I don't think I do. Maybe the girl didn't realize her mouth was open? I never fake sleep on a train though, if I look like I'm sleeping, I'm usually really asleep.

Do you ever miss your station? That is one of the most perplexing things to me. I did fall asleep on a train a few times when I was working a job that was really hard on me. Every single time I missed my station, lol.

HA! Wasabi Kit Kat bars - those would make a great prank present. Especially on April Fool's day. :)

I love the train decals, the new Macross characters look interesting. I love trains too, so I'm already biased. ;)

Glad you had fun at Jump Fiesta. That's the important part - I usually get so caught up in taking pics of everything around me during a festival, concert, etc., that I never really enjoy myself.

And have a Merry Christmas!

i always heard that people pretend to sleep on the trains so they can keep their seats. like, if an elderly/disabled/pregnant person came on, it would seem as if they didn't know, and that's why they weren't giving up their seats. is that true?? because when i was in japan i witnessed SO much fake sleep!!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on December 27th, 2009 01:58 am (UTC)
Well, for me I can't fall asleep instantly so it looks like everyone is faking sleep, lol.

But yes, I've seen people sit in the courtesy section and immediately pretend to be sleeping, or pretend when they see someone come on that would need a seat. It's far more common to see people pretend to read or play on your cell phone/DS/etc and just "not see" disabled people, though.

These are in special areas where you are supposed to give up your seats for elderly/pregnant/disabled, too. The same rule doesn't really apply to regular seats.

I wish i could have seen you again before leaving! (not to mention that i still own you money as i failed to think about leaving it at Lindsay's when i left >_>")

Eda looks great on that "eggnog-nantoka" pic!!

I've always wondered how people sleep on commutes.. It's so loud and noisy! Is it real sleep, or just kind of resting your eyes? I mean, if you really sleep, how do you not miss your station, and how would you know if someone else needs the seat? And is it possible to sit down and immediately be asleep?

Also, when you sleep do you lean on strangers? People are always leaning on me.. it's so perplexing! I could never sleep in such an uncomfortable position, and roll all over from side to side. Or do you think those people are faking it?

Haha, you're exactly like me when it comes to posting in LJ. Either you're too busy so you don't post at all, but when you do you go all out. Picture orgasm! XD

Thanks for all the really awesome and interesting photos! <3
