SUCCESS!!!!!! (???)
Today I stepped out for a little while to relax, and ended up hitting the Indian festival in Yoyogi Park with Lindsay. Which may have been the best decision of my life!

Because I found these ------------>

Documented in the Guiness book of world records as the hottest chili in the world, Naga Jolokia peppers are a challenge that I can't back down from!!

Oooooooooooooooh man, just the tiniest nibble and it was by far the spiciest food that I've ever had!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! I definitely need to find a regular supplier.. I want to use them in everything!! In fact, I think that I will make an omelette tomorrow with them!! My mouth is watering already in anticipation!!!! *wiggles*

Now, the best part is.... trying to find a spicier pepper (they may be out there!), and better yet, a spicier food!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!!

Would you try this pepper?

...You're nuts!
I can't even handle mild salsa >_>;
Tove :)twissie on September 27th, 2009 01:53 pm (UTC)
It's nice to see you this excited, but... considering regularly spicy food makes me throw up (my stomach just doesn't handle it), I think I should stay far, far away from these things xD;
Kathy: angel/devil shakerskisa829 on September 27th, 2009 02:01 pm (UTC)
Man...those sound so intense...but I think I would try them! Plus, how fun is it to tell people you've eaten the spiciest pepper ever? XD
Auroratwistedfae on September 27th, 2009 02:05 pm (UTC)
Nope not me. I can't handle spicy. XD
milkandcandiesprismatic_star on September 27th, 2009 02:14 pm (UTC)
Haha, I'm bengali. Everything spicy runs in my blood. :P
Though, I cannot stand wasabi. EVER.
Kira_Shadowkira_shadow on September 27th, 2009 02:17 pm (UTC)
oh man... O_o
I think I'd die from that XD
I can eat spicy...but not SPICY.

but I'm sure Aki/Gini would try those XD
az1989az1989 on September 27th, 2009 02:30 pm (UTC)
isn't it supposed to be real spicy? o.o!
i would like to try one if I ever got the chance. XD
Louise Fairweatherinsertevilname on September 27th, 2009 02:33 pm (UTC)
Wow, you sure are brave o.o
I could never handle that, I haven't been very fond of spicy food ever since a particular encounter with it in Thailand that made me feel like it had burned a hole in my tongue XD

Spicy food?! DDD,:
I can't stand even pepper. LMAO. (And that's not actually spice... >_>)
James Pickenstolarin on September 27th, 2009 02:37 pm (UTC)
I would definetly take on that challenge!
nyagcpinkuneko on September 27th, 2009 03:03 pm (UTC)
I was there, too, and I had a feeling you would be there. XD We hae to find a time to meet, cause I want to get my hands on one of those. D8
ルリdemonruri on September 27th, 2009 03:10 pm (UTC)

xD I'm actually not so good with spicy things. :D But oddly enough those peppers were mentioned when I was watching a program on the Travel Channel yesterday (they were at a hot sauce festival). Very cool.
neofeliss on September 27th, 2009 03:23 pm (UTC)
LOL, I can't handle spicy very well either. I can handle wasabi (though it burns my nose) and very mild-spicy salsa, but that's it. ^^;
Chacolechaco on September 27th, 2009 03:26 pm (UTC)
BRING IT ON. I would love to try this in mild portions. :) I like trying new food and love spicy food. *_*
V: Ushio - Sunshinegalyndean on September 27th, 2009 03:28 pm (UTC)
I would try it, but I doubt I would switch to eating it in everything. There's a very fine line when the spice adds to a dish and when it overpowers a dish. I don't really care for crossing that line.
akibareakibare on September 27th, 2009 03:40 pm (UTC)
Would I eat that? Hell no you have GOT to be kidding :)

However, I am going to tell one of my teammates about it, he is obsessed with chili (wins the "hottest chili" in the building contest regularly). I wanna see HIM eat one.

Ariananorcalsanjifan on September 27th, 2009 03:56 pm (UTC)
I should never go anywhere near these things lol. I think they would kill me ^^;;;;
Reiquentin_watson on September 27th, 2009 04:25 pm (UTC)
I would probably try a tiiiiiiiny bite and then instantly regret it. XD
arthurfrdent: notlaughingarthurfrdent on September 27th, 2009 04:33 pm (UTC)
so you've got a deathwish then? :fallsoverlaughing: you so very funny, but I like your hobby a lot. It's fun to watch somebody on a quest. Just remember if you over-do it, you can eat sugar directly, and that should take the edge off. hmmm, I think I may stop by one of the hatch green chili roasters this afternoon, and make Chile Rellenos, cuz they are really good with fresh roasted chilis...

In your honor of course ;)
wanderingdreamrwanderingdreamr on September 27th, 2009 04:38 pm (UTC)
Would I try those? Nope, I can barely handle bell peppers. There have been so many times when I've gone, why is there spice in my food? and my mom didn't realize I was that sensitive. Gah, now I want Mexican food and torment myself with spices...
Anguilaelectragretchen on September 27th, 2009 04:58 pm (UTC)
I'm mexican and I can honestly tell you: Never x_o

I'd never eat such a hot pepper.
BUT! Didn't I tell you that Indians know how to do spicy?
  ⌒☆Redredstars on September 27th, 2009 06:25 pm (UTC)
Those sound delicious! I wonder if I can find them here...
cinnamonghostcinnamonghost on September 27th, 2009 07:04 pm (UTC)
Aww, I'll never get why people like spicy food XD
I mean slightly spicy is okay, but at some point it just overpowers the actual taste of the food imo.
Chappy_Rukiachappy_rukia on September 27th, 2009 10:06 pm (UTC)
I commend you for stepping up to the challenge the pepper's that have made it into Guiness have presented you.

I myself ENJOY~ spicy/hot cusinines (won't eat cup of noodle's unless it's spicey) but I doubt i'd charge the pepper head on and would prob take little steps since I have already bitten off more then i could chew once before and I don't think mother would be happy that i drank another full gallon of milk cuz of my love for spices
kakibellkakibell on September 27th, 2009 11:44 pm (UTC)

While they aren't jolokias, many supermarkets do offer habaneros and jalapenos in the import markets, which may hold you over until you find these again. The best thing to do though is to save those seeds and grow the peppers yourself at home. Peppers are really easy to grow if you have the sunlight.

La Petite Fraiseyummycoffee on September 27th, 2009 11:46 pm (UTC)
I watched a TV show the other day on Extreme Conventions. They featured one on hot sauce, and they had a segment on hot sauce made from the Jolokia pepper. It's the hottest pepper in the world, yes, but there was also another vendor who doubled the spiciness of a Jolokia pepper by using Habanero pepper extract in his hot sauce.

So just find some extract from a Jolokia or Habanero pepper and you'll have something even spicier!

Wow, I have low tolerance for spicy food and I admire you how love these kinds of food.
Williamgenkischuldich on September 28th, 2009 03:43 am (UTC)
You were there too?

I didn't try the pepper, as it happens. I was alone for about half the time and there were two...
neooldetokyoneooldetokyo on September 28th, 2009 11:16 am (UTC)
We have a chili festival in my town here and it is always fun watching people try the gabazillion scoble peppers, and then begging for the antidote.
As for me, no thanks. I think I'm adventurous if I order anything with salsa!
Bambithis_weird_gurl on September 28th, 2009 04:27 pm (UTC)
I would def try this pepper!!

Oh, man. I'm no good when it comes to spicy foods. Everybody tells me I have wimpy taste buds...

So no. I DEFINITELY wouldn't try that pepper.

That sounds so good!

You are crazy..if I even get near an jalapeno my tongue swells up . I can stand wasabi and curry..but I guess i 'm allergic to fresh chiles. Wow so this chile beat out the scotch Bonnet/ Habanero? My friend jokes if the flies won't even touch the salsa it's too hot.

Hey Jamie!
I'm planning on going to Tokyo for a week in August next year. Will you be around?
Aprilpricelessmurder on October 2nd, 2009 04:10 pm (UTC)
I don't like to just eat peppers, but I would certainly try a dish with this pepper in it. Yum!
grimdc13grimdc13 on October 2nd, 2009 07:10 pm (UTC)
I grow Jalapeno's in our garden for my mom, She makes the salsas. She tries to up my immunity to chiles, but sometime it backfires.

I broke out into a sweat just looking at those.

Though I don't have your endurance level so I'll surely pass on this pepper, but I found an older video of Ai no Apron - if you know the variety - where comedians fought in "Red Wars". There was 3 different hot food in one fight, and I figured you may be interested. ^^

Mmmm, thanks for the link!! Do you know if they have any spicy sauces without vinegar in them? I usually can't have hot sauce because it's vinegar-based T____T Why oh why...
TsumiKtsumik on June 18th, 2010 05:41 pm (UTC)
unfortuantely I believe all of blairs sauces have vinegar. I think they have a dry sauce that doesn't have vinegar.

Try their sauces. I've never had this particular brand but I do like peruvian peppers. :)
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on June 18th, 2010 06:26 pm (UTC)
OMG, you are my hero.... O.O When I have some money, I am definitely ordering those!!
