When it rains, it POURS... (in a hurricane)
I didn't read the weather forecast today. Miyu said that she did, but it didn't say that a HURRICANE was going to hit Tokyo Big Site. Maybe that's because the forecasts are for Tokyo, and Tokyo Big Site, despite the name, isn't really IN Tokyo. In any case.... outside, we were SUDDENLY hit by a hurricane, full force!!

If I could sum it up in one word, I would say: AWESOME! Seriously, it is probably THE coolest thing to happen to me since I moved to Tokyo almost 2 years ago. Oh, I've been in hurricanes here before, but never caught IN them like this with no real shelter. Oooooh, amazing. Were it not for all of the doujinshi that I bought and the fact that my ketai might get ruined in the rain, I would have abandoned it all and ran around in it some more. =D Though.. my doujinshi did all get wet. And my camera. And, um... me. Less than 5 seconds and I was soaked to my skin. ^o^ I really hoped that we would beat it to central Tokyo and be able to run around in it again, but it apparently didn't hit my area. Just random lighter rain. Mou mou.

I took a video of the hurricane, click here to see it. And here is Part 2. I don't know that it does it justice, but the sound that you hear... that is ALL the rain.

I loved it... COMPLETELY amazing!! ♥ It was pretty intense and fun, and didn't matter that we were huddled under a walkway thing. The thing was, with the wind blowing hard sideways, everyone got soaked. Umbrellas didn't do much good, especially if you ran out in the rain, as we had to do to get to the station. (The first video I took is right before we ran for it, the second is right after it). Basically, right after we left the convention center, it was cloudy, but not raining. Then 10 seconds later it started a light rain, and 30 seconds later a heavier rain. So we hurried to get to the covered walkway..... and suddenly the SKIES OPENED UP ABOVE US and dumped three thousand million gallons of water on top of us... all at once. =D Amazing. It was so much fun!!! Well, at least for me and Eda. Miyu and Katsu didn't seem to enjoy it as much. ^^;;; But Eda and I love storms and seriously, we made a long break for it in the storm racing to the station (rather than stand around waiting and getting wet anyways) and were dripping water (see pictures below), and it was GREAT. ♥

Ahhhhhhh, I love Tokyo. It made Comicket so much more exciting! It doesn't hurt that Tokyo Big Site (lovely descriptive name, ne?) is located right next to the ocean. You can look out from the platform and see the ocean. In winter 2004, there was a freak snowstorm that froze us waiting in line outside, in Summer 2006 there was a huge wet hurricane. Hw much better can you get! To say nothing for the Matsumoto x Orihime x Hitsugaya porn that I left with. =D

YAAAAY!! I ran into Hiku cosplaying as Shishido! Hiku I miss you already!!!!!! ToT Well, we have next week!! I can't wait!! I also got to finally meet Karla!!! ♥ SO TALL!! *o*

This is... part of Tokyo Big Site, where Comicket is held several times a year. Comicket (Comic Market) is the biggest doujinshi convention (or event, really.. It is just selling doujin and people cosplaying, no panels or things you usually associate with anime conventions) in the world. ^o^

This was during the hurricane... This was around 2 pm, by the way...

The result of the hurricane on me....... ^o^ WET! Water was running down everything, and I was soaked through to my underwear....

Stuff from the other day at Shakey's pizza...
Me:

I want a Quater pizza!!

YUMMY banana pizza!!! Doesn't that look delicious?!

I took a GREAT picture of the moon the other night. =D

PS: This article is so interesting... it's so very very true. I see all of those kinds of fashions every day. Especially the Hime-gals one. It is quite interesting to see a 30-year old woman dressed up in pink lace skirts with curled hair and a tiara and sparkly high heels riding the train.. I don't know what more I can say about that fashion, lol......

Hurricane! I feel so alive!! I feel so, so alive!! ☆☆☆☆☆☆

Such great pictures! I'll have to watch the videos when I get home. Work computers don't like to stream anything.

Sounds interesting though; a hurricane just right then and there! Lucky~!

A... hurricane?! That's so random! X_X! It looks so dark there.

I've seen a few of those kinds of girls here, too. Not nearly the same as seeing them in Japan, but... the fashion is too ridiculous. @_@

I already been through hurricanes. It isn't so bad unless you are near the eye. Its really nice at night especially during a hurricane. The lights switch off to green to blue to yellow to pink. Its really really nice.

It kind of scares me since it shakes the house and then, there are trees blown everywhere. So far, Floridians are awaiting for our hurricanes and come and hit us again. ♥

Ohh, I love storms too. The best thing ever is being at home and watching the storm out of the window. Or at night when i'm in bed and can hear the storm outside ^^.

That video's so cool.

It took me a while to figure out what the third picture down was! lol, it's so dark. I thought it was inside a dark building. Crazy Tokyo weather rocks =)

I love the crazy fashions also. I don't think i'd dare to wear it but =) lol

XDD What's Japan's biggest highlight? The hurricanes! I've never been in one myself, but sounds pretty cool. That is, as long as you don't get speared by a pole or something. :D

It sounds like the experience was pretty exciting and it soundsn like you had lots of fun!

Also wahs....seeing Hiku with you makes me all sad and nosltagic ;O; *misses you* XD Also yea Karla's tall...Is she taller than you or about the same height =O I'm not sure, but I think I come to about the same area on both of you XD;

She's 2 inches shorter than me.. though she was wearing tall boots and a tall wig so I got to look up to her. =D

I would have loved to have been there with you, it just sounds so amazing! The downpours we've had here are probably nothing by comparison, even if they are intense. Maybe one will happen while I'm there.. *hugs* Glad you're safe though, too!

Whoa, freaky!!! X.DDDDD
Looks fun to be in, but I don't like the idea of getting soaked like that. ...So I'm glad this didn't happen last year. .^^;

Whoa! That's a lot of rain! >_> It didn't hail at least did it? That would've hurt if it did! Ah I've never been in a hurricane but it looks sorta of like it's scary and thrilling at the same time. But what do I know? -is from TN..only knows about freak show lightening storms- XD Despite the rain it looked like you had fun. o.o

I can't imagine enjoying a hurricane, but then when Juan hit us in 2003, it caused enough terror, stress, and damage that I've been phobic about them ever since.
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on August 13th, 2006 02:14 am (UTC)
The hurricanes in Japan aren't so bad. They're just lots of wind and lots of water, so they're really fun to be in. It's like a really really windy thunderstorm, so they're lots of fun. ^^
Chiakichiaki777 on August 13th, 2006 12:26 am (UTC)
Wow, that is a STRONG hurricane O.O I miss being caught in them, having to stay home to watch TV about it XD
