| T__________T Wizard magazine not only charges outrageous shipping prices, they don't ship to Japan. I miss comics, so I was thinking that I could at least read about them. I can't even find a customer service contact address to address a complaint or request to. ToT *cries* | |

| There is surprisingly a lot to write about..!! Sort of. This last week I've spent in the studio, working on the manga that is going to come with Konomi-sensei's first CD. It's... hilarious! And gay. So very, very gay. LOL, in any case, trust me it's worth it. Plus, you can listen to "Tenipuri tte ii~~~~~ na" while reading it. It's all a pretty funny situation, really.. but I'm happy for him. (even though it means more work for us T-T) Sensei is supporting my acting endeavorss (he specifically said, "I want you to go out there and be on tv and movies and then I'll say "Hey! That's MY Jamie" XDXD Thanks for your support, Sensei. I support you too!!) Right before I went into the studio, I went again to the Berry Cafe with Mamiko. I can't get enough of that place!! In my quest to find the best chocolate in Tokyo, we also went to Pierre Marcolini's. Mmmm, the chocolate drink and parfait that I had was just heaven!! I still think there can be better, though! Afterwards, we headed out to the play that my friends Nana and Wataru are in, The Best of Hyougen-Sawayaka. There were kappa!! It was so funny!! =D We went to the celebration with the cast afterward (it was opening night) and I made some good new friends. At one point, Nana shoved her phone at me and bade me talk to Kimeru (seems he had came but didn't know about the party). He was so chipper and friendly and.. eager to chat.. that I have to wonder, maybe just maybe he's not as bad as I thought. He invited me to his next concert, so if I have the time to go then I guess we'll see. Despite that we listen to it sometimes in the studio, I don't really know any of his new music, though.. And anyways, why is he so eager to talk to me now? What a change from before. Anyways, I just want to say.. the play is still going on for a few days, so GO SEE IT! It's pretty funny!! You can buy tickets at the door for all but the last show, I think. ^-^ http://www.nekohote.com/next_top.html So, then it was in to the studio for me. I got out late Tuesday night, and spent the next day (yesterday) going to a movie audition, then back to the Berry Cafe with Adrian, and then I barely had enough time to get home and change, then go out with Lindsay for a little while. We went to a bar in Shibuya-- The Chestnut and Squirrel. I don't know.. I really don't like bars. I don't drink, don't smoke,so it's like being a fish out of water. But I thought that maybe I could meet some fun people. In all, it was kind of boring, but I did meet a nice girl that will probably become a friend. ^^ So all was not in vain! Next time I have a weekend off, I am going to go on some kind of camping trip or something, definitely! Though who knows when that will be. ^^;; I have today off, and first order of business-- MY FRIDGE WAS DELIVERED!! YAY!! I now have a gorgeous steel fridge!! I LOVE IT! Okay, I haven't plugged it in yet because the movers told me to wait 1 hour, but I will do so now! I'm so excited! Gonna go buy milk :3 Of course, because of that, I have almost no money left in the bank. But YAAAAAAAAY MIIIIIILK!! So today, gonna head over to get my llicense translated, so that I can get a japanese one (eventually). Other than that, I don't have any concrete plans for today, so I think I will take the evening and write, write, write!! Write like crazy for my manga. Tomorrow is another day off, then Saturday it's back to the grind!! Oh, this month is so full that I can't even blink. But I love it! I really love the feeling of being busy, as long as I have a lot of fun things going on and I get a bit of time here and there to relax. ^-^ Now iit's off to shower!! PS: Anybody going to Tenipuri Festa?? | |
|
| I am on a quest to find the spiciest food in Tokyo!! Partly for my own personal benefit, and partly so that I can write a really awesome article for my Asahi Weekly column in a few months. So today I started my quest. Just testing the waters, I was told of a place, Bakudan-ya, that has noodles that you can dip in a spicy sauce up to spice-level 20. I asked and they gave me level 200 instead, which is the highest they let you start out on. Oh, it was hot, that's for sure! My sauce was completely red! But it wasn't HOT, if you know what I mean? They told me that the highest that they know of that someone has gone was level 400. Next time, I will definitely ask for 500. =D Just remember to bring some milk, and you're all good! I'm sure that there is more spicy stuff out there!! Cocos Curry level 10 down, Bakudanya level 200 down! Now on to the next! =D (and I will be going back to Bakudanya in Shinjuku later this month! Anyone want to come too?) | |
|
| On Tuesday, we went and filmed for Asahi Pop'n Press! It was really really fun! We went to the Canadian Embassy, and I met some great, nice people!! Honestly, out of all of the embassies that I've visited so far, this one was my favorite. Anybody can just walk in, and they have a library!!!! Even I can come in and use the library for free if I like!! Now if only it wasn't in such an inconvenient place (I have to switch train lines three times), I would go there all the time! I really want to go to Canada now. =D Just to visit! Afterwards, I learned what the difference is between a professional cook and an amateur. Wow.. The gap is HUGE!! I made a dish and so did Chef, and... erk. Whoaa. I definitely have a huge respect for chefs who know their thing! I am getting a lot more used to acting. At least acting the way that it's done in Japan. Think I am ready for my Star Trek debut? =D =D =D In any case, I really like it. I am working really hard on it, and am really glad that I was pulled into it! It's so much fun!!! ♥ | |
|
| So... one of these is really, really good and the other is not.. Any guess which? Hint: I love chai &hearrts; The chai is great and not too sweet, which is the best way to have it! Unfortunately it's a little bit too watery and the calorie (about 200 per bottle!!!!!!!) content is too high. But it's good for a bottled drink and I'm really hooked!! The shiso pepsi... Well, I had to look up what a shiso is, and it turns out that it's an herb from the mint family... So I thought, HEY! Mint can't be too bad! It might actually be good! But it's not minty at all. It's vaguely like if someone made basil pepsi. LOL I know a few people that liked it, but I'll pass. ^o^;; | |
|
| http://www.artunlimited.co.jp/nakano/tn.htmlI don't really talk a lot about works I like or what inspires me. But I'd like to change that!! I started with my offsite blog, talking about a new jewelry maker and the Bakuman manga.. It was inspired by a friend, actually. So that brings me to this.. TOKYO NOBODY.I came upon this photo book completely by accident last night on my way home from recording in Roppongi. And wow. Seriously wow. I was immediately in love with this book and bought it. It's a collection of (supposedly) non-doctored photographs of Tokyo, with nobody in them. Not a car, not a human. Completely devoid of life, and yet.. not. I love it. It's the kind of feeling that I want to give in Denkiki (the short manga that I've been writing and working on prints of). The photographer, Masataka Nakano, says that it took him 10 years to get these shots one-by-one. I really, really think it's amazing. I want to try something like that sometime. Just wow. I am impressed! I definitely will be looking for more of his work!! | |

| Last Saturday was epic.. in the way that only a really geeky thing can be! But.... I mean, how geeky can it really be when a real-size, 1:1 scale model of a Gundam exists? It sounds pretty mainstream to me. ^-^ It's also pretty damn cool. =D Anyways, it is 18 meters tall, and was just built in Odaiba to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original Gundam anime. Despite that I've only seen (and thoroughly enjoyed) the newest incarnation, Gundam 00, and the oldoldold SD Gundam OVA, this was still... epic. =D Definitely an epic win! It moved and lights and fog came out! Eda and I went together, and I think she mentioned several times that she came in her pants. =D I wasn't quite that excited, but I definitely had a few moments of awe! Promptly followed by DAMN I WANT TO PILOT THAT THING! But alas, I'm neither angsty nor a teenager, so I don't qualify. Too bad. Because think how cool it would be to fly through the sky and space in that?! Not to mention that when people asked me what I did for a living, I could nonchalantly respond, "Oh, I just pilot a gundam." Way cooler than "mangaka", right? Maybe... okay, maybe not. But it's definitely up there with "Oh, I'm captain of the USS Enterprise," right? =D (Sorry, I saw the movie for a third time today... I seriously can't get enough of it!!!) ( Gundam-y pictures... =D )Ahhhh, life in Tokyo is never boring, if you know where to look. =D BTW, it is free to see (unless you count the train fare and the fact that you will undoubtedly want to eat somewhere in the gorgeous Odaiba shopping centers) =D It's going to be there until the end of August, so go and see it if you can! Don't miss it!! | |

| Err, that's right.... cold gyoza. Seriously. Trying to catch up on the posts that I've been wanting to write but haven't had time to (this is a recurring theme these days, lol), last week sometime (err, when was that?! Not a clue..) I went with Kira-chan and Ulrike to check out the cold gyoza fair at Gyoza museum in Ikebukuro namco town. Errr... while I HIGHLY recommend Gyoza museum (they have a good variety and the setting is great!!), I can't say that cold gyoza really wasa a winner... ^^;; I had gyoza shaved ice, and... well, afterwards I wish that I hadn't. I kind of assumed that it would be sweet (am I the ONLY person who has ever made gyoza and put chocolate or strawberries in the middle? Certainly not... o.o;; right?), but what I got was.. well, regular gyoza, on ice. If that's your thing, then go for it! But I prefer mine piping hot unless they're filled with chocolate and strawberries. :3 ( some pictures... )And just in case you want to go: http://www.namja.jp/gyoza/event/account/event10.html | |

| The orange circle in the middle there, it says "Eat!" ....I wonder if live-boiled human tastes good? Apparently you can get it at this place, though... ^^;;;; | |

| I got a new twitter!! ^-^ http://twitter.com/denkikiIt sucks that my old one was suspended, but there's nothing that I can do about it... I don't know why, andd nobody from twitter has responded to my questions or requests. Oh well, it wasn't that old, anyways! Can anyone tell me how to do that thing where it automatically posts all of my twitter updates to my lj once a day? | |

| This Friday (May 29), Konomi-sensei and his studio will be on TV Tokyo! The title of the program is Jump Bang ( http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/contents/janbang/index.html), hosted by Minami Akina and America Zanigani. About three weeks ago, they came to the studio to film the episode, and we moved on to tennis courts later. It shows a lot of the studio, where Shin Tenipuri is put together every month, and even one of the pages from next month's issue ^-^ And for those of you that swing that way, Pirates playing tennis opposite of Konomi-sensei. The show is on TV Tokyo(channel 12 in Tokyo, not sure about other parts of the country) at 6:00 pm this Friday. For those outside of Tokyo, I think that there are ways to watch this channel over the internet. Does anyone know any?? (please post a comment!) I'm hoping that maybe someone can record it and put it on Youtube for those that can't watch it any other way... I would if I could, but I'm not sure that I'll be home at that time since I have another job. | |
|
| I'm baaaack!! I just wanted to say that. I've been back since Saturday actually, but busy searching for apartments, taking care of chores, etc. Hopefully things will fall back into place slowly! I can't wait!! ^^ By the way, I'm slowly migrating over to my other blog: http://blog.jamieism.comWhen I'm happy with that one, this one will more or less close, except for friends-only type personal updates (to people that I know irl, etc), and of course to follow things online. But I am really excited about starting a *real* blog!! ^-^/ Today is a day to finish errands and then draw draw draw! <3 ( What's your seduction style? ) | |
|
| Those of you whom have made 'donation'/presales so far, thank you so much!! ^o^/ The response has been great!
Just letting everyone know that I am nearing the end of the presales! I really hope that I can get (most of) the prints finished this weekend, and then I will end presale and begin the regular sales! So if you want to get in on it cheaply, there is just a tiny bit of time left! =^-^=
I am printing a limited amount of each print, each one numbered and once that's gone, those specific prints will never be offered again! So I'm hoping that it will be a collector's item one day! ^-^
EDIT: Because I'm heading into the studio now, I'm suspending the presales until I'm back! More updates later as time permits! ^__^ | |
|
| Okay!! ^^ I'm working on a set of prints that will be related to my in-development webcomic (more info later, to be announced soon!) and to several other projects that I've worked on or am working on! They're not ready yet, but they'll be good, probably B4 size (unsure just yet, however. Possibly A4. It depends. I'm also considering postcards), and they will all be individually hand-signed by me. The prices on the prints will depend on the type of materials, but I'm looking at around $10 each (USD), depending on quantity and quality of course! They will probably go up for sale either at the end of this month, or at the end of this week, depending on several factors (namely that I have to be in the Tenipuri studio most of the month, so I don't know if I will have the time to get everything set up before I get in. I will try, but quality takes time!). But I'd like to offer a deal! I'd like to build up some money with which to get the new URLs and with which to experiment with different printing places!! So I'm asking for donations-- Temporarily unavailableIt's not exactly donations.. I guess in a weird way, it's like an investment..? The amount is up to you, but basically, for every $10 (USD) that you donate, I'll give you two prints of your choice for free after they are ready to go out (near the end of this month). In effect, making this a little bit like a pre-sale! I know that you haven't seen them yet, but if you think that you'd like to have some of the first prints that I've ever sold, then it'd be a good deal for you and a big help for me! And if you don't want any of these next prints for some reason, don't worry, because I will keep full track and you can choose future prints if you so wish instead, or we can work something else out. ^^ What do you think? This is a big experiment for me, too. And who knows... when I finally publish my own first manga work, you'd have a real collectivble! Hand-numbered and signed. =D (and my appreciation, though that's not worth any money!). Well... that's that! I'll get to work on things now! ^^ | |

| Yesterday, I explored Korea town, which isn't too far from where I live. I really love it there!! Especially the food! Mmmmmmm I tell you, Korea really knows their business when it comes to food!! It was really nice losing myself in Korea-ness for a little while. It was research for my column, but I will post a little bit more about it here after it comes out. It's nice to have these little pieces of other cultures here in Japan. By the way..... SPICY FOOD = LIFE ♥ I like the Korean saying of "If it's not spicy, what's the point?" (Or something like that. Does anyone know the actual original saying?) Today I'm going to take my first capoeira class. I've been interested in it ever since a friend was doing it in college, and now's the time to hit up the classes!! *bounces* I hope that it's fun, and that it doesn't kill me! At least it's nearby! Ahhhhh, I think that I've gained weight, looking at the picture. This is not acceptable. You'd think that all of the healthy food that I've been eating would mean the opposite. Oh well, things will even themselves out eventually.... It's almost swimsuit season! XD;;; I was wondering, what is something that everyone wants to change about themselves? Either physically or mentally (or both). I was just thinking that it's probably the same types of things, no matter what continent or race or culture you're from.. People are really fundamentally alike all across the world. ^^ - Tags:life

| There's always so much that I want to write that I don't know where to start!! I need to start updating my journal in shorter, more random updates, I think... ( Rambling about healthy things and cosmetic things... )So last Wednesday amid all of this chaos, I had to go in and film again for Asahi Pop'n Press. I was really, really psyched for this filming!!!! Why? Because we were filming inside of the American Embassy!! Unfortunately, I couldn't bring my camera in (security was TIGHT), but it was a really great place! Normally, people aren't allowed inside unless they work there or are part of a special program, but somehow my wonderful Producer Suzuki-san managed to get us filming permission. =D I met a lot of really exciting people, including a guy who has the same name as me! We talked about everything from American food (I baked cookies with the daughters of the press office, who was so sweet!), and got to talk about Obama. It was there that I realized that in all of my life, I've never been excited about a President. Besides the normal childhood dream of wanting to be President (I still am debating the idea, honestly.. though I won't even be eligible for years), I've never really gotten excited about any of them. But I try to be aware of politics (even if I'm not so active... although I would like to be more active, if I had the time) at least, and really... it feels like this is the year (and age) of change. The world has changed so much in the last 20 years, and my life has changed so much in the last one year especially. I can only imagine what will happen (to me and to the world) in the next 4 years!! ( Where I want to be in 4 years.. )Well, I am just rambling on.. But suffice it to say that I've been really busy! I'll write more later, and for now I leave you with a few pictures!! ( Just a few pictures from last week... ) | |
|
| It's been a long few days.. a long few weeks, really! (or technically, a long few months). I can't remember the last full day that I had off....! Luckily, I have tomorrow off! Just one day, and I have a dentist appointment in the morning, but at least it's something, right? Then on Wednesday, I'm back to filming. We're going to the American Embassy, which was really hard to get permission to go into, so that should be interesting... I wonder what it's like! (Is it weird that I'm American, but I've never been there? The problem is that you're not allowed inside unless you work there, so there's no point, really). Well, on Saturday, we weren't finished with Chapter 4, but I had to leave in the early afternoon because I had a meeting for shooting on Sunday. I heard that the team finished about 3 am.. I really wish that I could have stayed because they would have finished earlier, but there was no way. T-T I feel so guilty... Now of course if we didn't run over our deadline (not the fault of the assistants), there would have been no problem. But these things happen, I guess... So Sunday was filming all over Roppongi! It was a lot of fun and I got to meet a lot of nice people! It was also a gorgeous and sunny day! But I was exhausted to start with from the last few weeks, and I could barely stand by the end. Looking at pictures of me, I show it. But it certainly doesn't hurt that they give us lunch of doughnuts and coffee...... ^^;;;; It's like asking our bodies to feel bad and tired! Regardless that Roppongi is full of delicious, healthy food. *complains* Oh well.. Today I went back to my healthy(er... well, sort of) diet and I feel more energized. A little bit. I had to do some artwork for the tv show, which took a few hours, and then deliver them, which more or less took up my whole day. Is that kind of sad? I'm pretty beat... BUT! I did find time to answer the questions that everyone asked! If you have any more, let me know! I also have a ton of pictures! ( Pictures are first! )And then answers to the questions!! If you don't see an answer here to something, then feel free to ask again! ^^ ( On my job working on Shin Tennis no Oujisama )( Concerning Japanese language and culture )( general art related.. )( Photography related )( Other sites.. )( Livejournal related )( Anime related )( Music-related )( Other... ) | |

| Oooooooooh man, I'm exhausted!! The deadline for the chapter that we're working on is really close, so we've not only been busy, it's hard to get any sleep! But at least it looks great (Shin Tenipuri chapter 4), and we're going to make the deadline! Right now, it's fight fight fight to get it all done and all done well!! Right before I headed off to get some sleep, T-san (what I'll call one of the other assistants) looked at the page that I was nearly finished with and had been working on for oh, about 10 hours today, and he said "Wait, behind Oni is supposed to be that building!!" (the one in the center of the courts), and both me and K-san freaked out. Only after a few moments did I realize that the picture was facing tthe other way, and Oni was turned around. So it was all okay!! I swear, I thought that I was going to die there for a moment, because most of that 10 hours had been spent on drawing the background, which was NOT the building. T________T We joked around afterwards, and K-san said, "That's the first time I've ever seen you panic, haha." To which I replied, "I never ever panic, but I had been drawing trees because sensei drew them in in pencil! If it had really been a mistake then I would have died!!" We all had a good laugh, but I think that I used all of my energy up in thaat 10-second panic, lol.... もう~~~ Thanks everyone for all of your questions!!! Please keep asking them! I haven't had the time to read everything yet, but I will this weekend, and write up a post filled with answers galore! =D Also, I tried to friend everyone back, but apparently lj has a limit on the amount of friends that one can have, and I reached it (again). ^^;; I'm waiting for them to remove the limit (last time, I asked and it was raised), so I will friend everyone back when that time comes!! (sorry!!) I do write friends-only entries sometimes, so I definitely want to be able to include everyone!! PS: I took this picture this morning on the way to the convenience store for snacks.. The sky was ridiculously blue-- it was really hard to go back into the studio after seeing the gorgeous weather!!!! I hope that it holds until at least next week!! ♥ | |
|
| Hello to everybody who found me through the lj spotlight!! ^----^ (and hello to all of my friends from before too, of course!) Thank you!! *waves* I'm so excited to be in the spotlight-- please of course feel free to friend me, I will add you back eventually!! Right now, I'm in the manga studio, so I don't have a lot of time.. but I'll try to do what I can! Otherwise, I'll catch up when we're done with chapter 4. (The deadline is pretty close, so I should maybe have some free time next week.) Have another picture of Konomi-sensei and me. ^-^ Right now, he's at home and I'm in the studio bedroom, about to go to sleep, but tomorrow morning we're going to be hard at work with the rest of the assistants!! ^^ Shin Tenipuri chapter 4 is really great so far! The story is finally getting revved up, so I think that people will be happy with it!! (I hope!) A lot of people have been asking questions, so I want to open up the floor-- if you have any questions, please ask here! I don't know how soon I can answer (probably not quickly), but I will try to answer what I can (as time permits)!! Go ahead, ask away!! (And feel free to read my back entries-- that'll answer a lot of questions that people have been asking far quicker than I will be able to) Kore kara mo よろしく!! (Please dont send me personal emails right now-- I dont have time to answer individually. Unless its a business matter. I do read all of the comments, so post away! ^^) | |
